Outing with your dolls

I took my boys out to enrollment today and checking out my dorm..I had alot of issues with people giving me a weird look and my new roommate was freaked out.Has anybody had some similar experiance or way better?I mean,I can't help the fact that I'm nervous around people and I have to have them with me to ease the nervousness.

Alot, if not most, BJD owners take their dolls outside every now and then.
It's normal for nervousness to occur amongst people who aren't familiar with the hobby.
This nervousness can sometimes also cause curiousity.
Have you ever thought of telling them about your dolls when they look at them?
It might put them (and you!) at ease. They might even get interested and ask questions.

I took my boy out with me last Monday (the album is here: http://www.abjds.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6377),
and got alot of disgusted looks from adults and teenagers,
until their children/younger siblings started asking me questions about him,
like where I got him, and if it was a boy or a girl (I think they were confused due to all of the ruffles).
It made the parents and older siblings loosen up alot!

So my suggestion to you is: See someone looking? Tell them about it!
And if they look disgusted, just let them be.

You'd better take a bow with you while taking dolls for a walk - then there won't be any questions or bad looks ))) (or better a gun ))) )

heh, i was out photographing my girl at the park, and a woman was walking by pushing a stroller. i smiled at her and she said, "S'okay...just as long as you're not doing voodoo."

when folks see me with her and make weird faces, i just tell them, "she's an art doll, i'm doing photography." the term 'art doll' almost always makes them look less weirded-out.

ive never had the guts to take my boy outside (he is too big/heavy and im scared of the sun messing his colour) but whenever i have friends over it usually goes something like this:
"omg your doll is so hot, did you buy him cos you wanted a boyfriend?"
"i bet you wish your doll was real so you could marry him"
"does it have a penis?"
yeah, apparently im some creep he wants to marry a doll. and i always have to keep an eye on my boy cos a few have tried to pull his pants down ><
