I'm curious-- what do you think is horrible about a lot of the girl bodies? I've had a lot of dissatisfaction with girl body sculpts, and I want to see what bugs you about them.

I find most of them too skinny and undefined. The arms and legs look like pathetic thin tubes coming off big hooters and hips of doom. Now I happen to like big hooters and hips of doom, but I'd like to see shapely arms and legs to go with them. When I saw Domuya fin with her prominent ribs, "Ick" popped right out of my mouth.
I like the SD16 girl legs. They are beautiful. I love the Limhwa half elf as well. She had a glorious shape and were she not french resin, I'd probably have her as we speak.
I need to find a sexy body for my incoming lishe head and I was hoping for something other than a CP kicky one, but I can't find anything I like.

Hmm, for me, it tends to be the expression. Some just call out to me over others, I guess. It's odd, because sometimes an expression catches me even though I wasn't looking for anyone in particular.
As for a concrete feature, it's in the the lips and then eye shape.
I'm a sucker for pouty lips.

I think it's more the overall look to me, and how well it fits the character I have in mind (which is why I have a lot of variety in my doll family). I admit, that I do have a thing about noses, I think big noses are cute.

Tough to say. There are several important factors....head shape (I tend to prefer more oval, long faces like El), nose and mouth are probably the top ones. I like full lips. If it's a girl I do like them a bit pouty. I typically don't like really "bow" shaped lips like many Volks dolls have. Just not my thing. I might forgive a nose that I don't quite like if it's something I can fix with sanding.

Nose! You may not beleive it, but the nose is a HUGE deciding factor for me. I'm a HUGE fan of angular noses, and the #1 nose for me is a strong classical roman nose. I LOVE them. This is why I love Jace as much as I do (And have plans to buy one >_>) as well as a mini hord of Dollshe... ;~;

For me it has a lot to do with oddly shaped breasts. I mean, if they don't have pornstar silicone shaped one's, they're just.. weird. Specifically, I mean the DollShe girl bodies. I know everyone has different likes/dislikes, but to me, the DollShe femme body is horrible. She has the grossest chest I've ever seen. @_@ I'm not fully satisfied with the Dollmore girl body, but I can live with it for now. =| It's like, the boys get all the detail and stuff and the girls are just basically shaped. It sucks. Hopefully more dolls like the Limwha come out.

Just curious, will you also be thinking of getting a Soom Mecha Angel Corvi? Man that guy has got him a schnozz!

Funny, I think the same thing about a lot of boy dolls too. The craze for ripped abs and exagerated pectoral muscles doesn't seem to carry to the arms and legs. The Dollstown 15 body is still the ultimate boy body for me. Everything perfectly balanced (stands to reason since it was modeled after Michaelangelo's David ). Can't wait to get my hands on the 15 girl body! Can you believe she has biceps?!

Hmm I'd have to say the over-all face. But I the first thing I look at is the nose and eye shape. It's the same as I look at first in real people. Also I'll have to feel a certain pull towards a doll, but that's to actually buy it and is a whole other topic. lol

For me I think it's just the overall effect. There's never really one feature that stands out to me when I'm browsing the doll sites. But the mouth tends to be a deal-breaker for me: Not too huge a fan of open mouths, so I usually get turned off by them even if I love the rest of the face.

For me is the nose and lips! I love love full lips or lips with the slightly putty
look and "meaty" nose (not sure how to put it in right words)
Oh not to forget eyes too~~ I prefer smaller eyes doll
These are the 3 main factor influencing my liking towards a doll.
However am flexible as sometimes the over image can be another major
factor too

I want my dolls to express something a bit different than "prettiness". Tiny Elfdoll Bong Sun Hwa was the first to reach out of that computer screen and grab my heart with that weird little gap-toothed smile...I hunted for one and bought her not realizing how small she actually is. I've had more fun with that tiny because of her strong personality than my bigger prettier ones El and Lishe).
I go for unusual beauty I suppose. Wendy Jr (Volks Shinsaya) has extreme anime cuteness and I love her for that reason. Kkotmu is on it's way here... I am thrilled to get a doll so unique, cute and sad at the same time.
One of my dream dolls is a Dollstown Seola...her face just fascinates me...that haunting sad waify character.
There are some Ultra Beautiful dolls that leave me cold. I probably will never desire the bjds that have a fashion doll look to them, but I enjoy seeing everyone's pictures of all their precious darlings, whether they are of my taste or not .

Bunnydots: When Soom released their initial pictures of him S_P and I were fearing he'd be gorgeous, schnozzish and delicious but once they released the whole shoot, we realized he just wasn't for us. There's something about his face that reminds us of someone we really don't like so...
We WANT Sabik like something awful though. >_>

I agree. I don't like most of the ripped ab look anyway. Do not get me on how awful I think hound and model doll bodies are. Heroin chic is not my idea of hot.
My Wu has the nicest proportion to my eye but everyone else thinks his legs are too chubby and short. I think he looks like a real, plush boy and that's totally what I wanted.

It's simply too hard for me to describe what I like, except there's a general pattern to it. Eyes of a certain shape. Think, I don't know... the Volks K.Mayura family and you have it. Cecile, F17, Tohya... I didn't even realise the trend until I started researching in depth on Volks sculptors / designers. I also tend to like them with a hint of a smile. Not smiley-smiley, just a hint. Slightly smiley and/or thick/pouty.

I need to line up all my dolls and try to figure out what they have in common! This is such an interesting question, especially because it's not one that I stop to think about in any conscious way when I choose a doll.
I suppose, thinking about my crew, that in general I prefer smaller faces--but overall head size isn't really a factor. And I seem to be drawn to faces that are broader across the mask/cheekbones, with narrower jaws/chins. I know I dislike pillowy Angelina Jolie lips, and mouths whose upper and lower lips aren't pretty close to the same thickness, but beyond that I have both wide and small mouths and love 'em both ways.
Eye shape, now . . . that's a good question. I know there's something I react to, but I can't put my finger on what it is. What do a CH Sia's and a Hypermaniac Omiclon's eyes have in common?

For me it isn't so much the shape of any particular thing, it is how it all comes together to make an expressive face...I've gotta say, Soom Gena is one of my favorite dolls, because of her strong nose, and that smirk that is sculpted into her lips. I liked her so much that I sold a doll and recreated the character with the Gena because the aspects of her sculpt came together in a way that had much more character and wickedness than the other 'shell' had. So yeah, its more like a sum of its parts thing for me.
BUT...if I *had* to choose one thing that would have to be nice on a face, I'd say the lips--since I do faceups and mod work, I can change the other stuff, resculpt it. But the lips have to be just right.

Agreed on all points. I love my Elfdoll girl, but her arms and legs are just... It's why I don't get excited about most bodies, and why I'm willing to forgive some of the oddities proportionally of my SD16 girl. She's actually got elbows, kneecaps, and the most beautiful calves and ankles I've ever seen on a doll. Same feeling on the Limhwa girl, too. Fabulous sculpting-- not to mention some of the best proportions on a doll-- but I don't want to have to deal with French resin.

So, so true. One of the big reasons I haven't gotten a CP girl is the breasts; they look artificial to me. And the poor, poor DollShe girls... Mr. DollShe has apparently never seen bare breasts before.

Dollstown FTW!!! When I get a boy doll, it's going to be a Dollstown 15 body, and it'll be bringing a 15 girl with it. Both are fantastic sculpts.

Hi, similar tastes here. I'm always told by my counterpart dolly geeks that I have unusual taste, because I don't go for the usual pretty nor handsome. I tend to go for the sullen and moody or the impertinent defiant look, I've found. I only have tinies, and the most popular ones are too cute for my taste.
I'm waiting on a Kkotmu as well.
