Hi new people!!!

Erlif: I think everyone joins the hobby for different reasons, but you shouldn't be ashamed to have a fun hobby! BJDs help me re-live my long-lost days of playing dolls (that I never got to do growing up with boys). So embrace your inner child!

daisysweet: What kind of girl do you have??? I love Monster High dolls! When I figure out my space situation I can to get a Ghoulia and Frankiestien. ^_^ (And lucky you for having a hubby to buy you dolls!)

What's your real name?
Coi, pronounced koo (like a bird call) ee (like pupphYh or kitthYh)

What's your occupation?
Student in college. Currently volunteering summers at Carolina Tiger Rescue

How long have you been collecting BJDs?
Just ordered them May 28, 2012! Been REALLY interested for a few months now. Been curious for years.

What dolls do you own?
Dikadollfs Chi and Doll Family-Afs Damien.

What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?
THE CUSTOMIZING!!!! Theyfre beautiful creatures with so many options and 100% yours! No two will EVER be the same! Unless, you know, the company needs identical display models that donft get played withc

Anything else you feel like telling us!
Ifm new to the bjd world, but Ifm trying to do research so I donft mess up or treat my dolls poorly. Thatfs why I joined a community. It took a few weeks, but eventually I found Resinality. It was the perfect place to find friendly people and answers to any question. My major concern is accidently abusing a doll, since I have many radical ideas I want to try. Ifm obsessed with getting everything I want out of my current two (one masculine, one feminine). I donft even want to consider buying another; Instead, I want to customize the existing ones.
Outside of bjd Ifm studying to be a Japanese translator. I hope to graduate Temple U in Tokyo and move on to teaching, tutoring, and working with Japanese-to-English books and dub scripts. My Japanese is still really bad, but I take my schooling seriously. My English could use a bit of work as well...
Other than dolls and language, I sew cosplay. A lot. I also bake sweets as I have a slight chocolate addiction ///^^///. Then therefre attempts at drawing...

- What's your real name? Jay, like Mockingjay.
- What's your occupation? Being extremely lazy, lying on my bed all day.
- How long have you been collecting BJDs? I juuuust started.
- What dolls do you own? By Christmas, I'll be owning my first doll.
- What's your favourite aspect of the BJD hobby? Photography, customization.

This is my first time actually getting into BJDs. I always saw them around on flickr and whatnot, but I never knew where to get them our find them and I'd only be limited to just staring with awe and envy. Now I'm looking for a job and planning on working to pay off the EXPENSIVENESS of the BJDs! I never knew how hardcore expensive it could be, but it's all worth it in the end, I think. Many are soooo gorgeous, it's amazing how they are hand-made!

B-but yeah. Hello!

Hello! I'm Tree, or Sebastian if you want to go personal. I'm an eighteen-year old bloke from the Netherlands, currently studying in the hope of ever becoming an English teacher. I came in contact with BJD's via my girlfriend and, to be honest, they're pretty fantastic. So I'm here, hoping to learn quite a bit more!

Don't mind me, I'm just a tree. Fine and dandy.

Hi Everyone,
My name is Alison. I'm a noobie, just got my first doll - RS Mei. I am extremely excited to get started. I first came across BJD's when searching for random stuff on Etsy....which lead me to find the BJD flickr communities. I love the beautiful photography and the customization. I have a background in makeup, so I'm especially interested in faceups.

Looking forward to chatting with you all.

Hi everyone, My name is Belinda; I'm also new to the hobby and still looking for my first doll. Alison's experience sounds very much like mine. I was also searching on Ebay/Etsy for doll patterns and found BJD's and couldn't believe how lovely they were! I'm a sewist and make all of my clothes. Lately I've been venturing into doll clothes and really like making them.

Have a great day!

I prefer the more realistic style doll with large eyes and open expressions. Innocent. There are several I like the look of, with DOD Petshe being the favorite so far.

Hi, I live in Brisbane and don't know anyone with a BJD. I have found it very difficult to even understand all the acronyms like EID and YID. I still don't know what they mean... A sticky with an acronym guide would be sooo useful.

One of the other things I find difficult is the photographs on sites. They aren't very good for looking at details, so often they only show the shoulders and head whereas I want to see the whole body and hand details.
I really want one or two or three LOL! I am looking for a more westernised type of doll, male or female, fairly large with a mature-ish face and body.

Anyway I will keep looking, eventually something will appear.

Cheers
Kym

Hello! It's nice to meet you all!

I go by Cat or Catsby (a pen name, but might as well be my real one, haha).

I'm a student studying to become a Japanese translator. Someday, I hope to translate literature, manga, anime, etc., but I've heard that the money's in scientific translation, so I'll probably end up in that field as well. I'm also a writer on the side. My hobbies include video games, anime/manga, tae kwon do, and more.

I can't say that I collect BJDs yet, because I don't own one yet, but I've been interested in them since... probably May (so three months or so). I have to say that I've become a little obsessed with them in that time.

Like I said, don't own any yet, but I hope to buy either DikaDoll's Molin or PoPoDoll's S within a couple of months. I can't decide which one I want more yet...

My favorite aspect would have to be the customization, as well as the endless artistic possibilities (faceups, photography, etc.). I just love how beautiful and (usually) androgynous dolls are~ I'm very interested in faceups.

Other than that, I'd say that I live in North Carolina, so if anyone knows of any meetups in the area, please let me know! I'm newbie to the community, but I'm eager to learn as much as I can about dolls. Again, nice to meet everyone~

I guess I should reintroduce myself. I'm Stormlight, I joined this forum back in 2007 I think? Posted a few times, and then sort of drifted away. I mostly lurk when I'm here (spend way more time on DOA and Dollieh Sanctuary), but I've been in the BJD hobby since 2006. My collection has grown ... quite a bit since I started.

My favorite aspect of this hobby? That would have to be creating characters and stories for the dolls, or being able to shell already existing characters from my novels into doll form. It's pretty fantastic.

Hello!

I'm Nevi, which is my online name, as I am a bit shy with my real name.
I work with with student veteran's and I am working on getting my art education degree.
I'm a youngling when it comes to how long I've really collected BJD's, but I've lurked in the hobby for around 4 or more years, I believe. I've only had my, currently 3, BJD's since April 2012.
I own a Dollzone Feilian-3, ResinSoul Ming, and FairyLand PukiPuki Cupid with his eyes modded to be open and he has daisy dayes hooves.
My favorite part of this hobby? Hmm, three things really. No real order 1. Meetups, I love meetups and meeting other interested in BJD's. 2. The creative aspect. 3. Playing with the dolls themselves! I love having one of them one my lap, on my desk, or anywhere nearby where I can reach out and touch them or rearrange their pose.

- What's your real name? Chris
- How long have you been collecting BJDs? Photographic books for over 10 years but dolls.....see below
- What dolls do you own? I ordered a Dream of Doll Thalia a few weeks ago
- What's your favourite aspect of the BJD hobby? Photography and ummm...shopping for cool clothes for my doll....

I got into BJD's via the photographs of Hans Bellmer and Ryoichi Yoshida. From Yoshida I got interested in the Japanese art scene built around building and photographing BJD's (mainly wooden) which I found in various magazines like Yaso. I also have a ball jointed mannequin which I'm repainting right now. I'm learning a lot from various forums so I'm looking forward to being here.

Hi everyone!
My real name is Dawn, and I've been a BJD hobbyist since 2008. So far I only have one doll,Volks MSD Hisui renewal edition. Her name is Meghann. I just ordered a Resinsoul Lan from DDE last night,so I'm really excited about that. I can't wait to post some pictures, but right now Meghann is getting a makeover,so I might as well wait.
My favorite thing about collecting BJDs is that it's a never-ending project. There's always something new to make for your dolls, something new to buy. I can always find furniture and props at yardsales,or make dresses from my old clothes. I'm not very good at faceups yet,but I've gotten better since my first one for sure!
I'm just really excited about joining Resinality,so sorry if I rambled on too much.

Smile Hi

Hello, My name is Lisa and I have been collecting dolls in general for 11 years. I started collecting them when my last daughter was born. I thought I was collecting them for her but that turned into for me!
I have been collecting bjds for three or four years which started with Evangeline. I have a DollLove MSD and her name is Alina...I recently purchased an SD Granado Fayette/Titania and she is awesome but strung too tightly and will not stand on her own...I am very frustrated with her at the moment. I really want to get Iplehouse Emilia but am a little leary due to my frustration with Titania. I try to sew for my dolls and ususally can turn out a pretty outfit but I am slow and I like my things to be as nice as my skills can turn out. I am happy to be a part of such a sweet and diverse group of fellow doll collectors....

Hi my names Edward but you can call me Eddie or Ed for short , Once had a hobby doin model cars when I was younger , I am older then most on here I think
Well I was born in time when boys played with boys toys and girls played with girls toys , And if you are a boy at this time you would not want to be catch playing with a doll for fear of being made fun of , I was pretty must like anyother boy back then (( Not telling anyone how old I am so don't try and ask ))
When a was a little boy I did not treat dolls all that good , had glued to of my sisters dolls face to one another and glued them together places other then the face , Times change and so do people , I grown out of the hole Destroy All Dolls mode and open my eye's to just how pretty and cute they all are

-Everyone have a good nice day-

Hello~
You can call me Shai. I've been collecting BJDs...for the last year but I have quite the big collection already My grails between my collection would be my Unoa sleeping Marion and Switch Kiri~
I got into the hobby thanks to my friend who bought one and I got jealous! But I really enjoy this hobby and I could talk about dolls for hours! All my dolls represent characters from our shared story~
I've been trying to learn how to face-up and sew for my dolls, so I can save money, although I go around sites looking at wigs, clothes, eyes and all that good stuff all the time
