Shipping Problems...rawr...

Well back in September I bought a DZ Yi from the market place, got everything all sorted out and waited. Waited a bit longer. Got bored. Asked the seller if she knew what was up. She went to the post office and found that my boy had been returned to her so sent him out again. So I waited. Asked again. She checked again, post office have the doll again.

I have nothing against the seller, she's been wonderful and is sending hmim by a more expensive postal option out of her own pocket, not to mention she has perfect feedback.

Is this normal though?

Depends. What country are you in (Scotland?) and what country is she in? Is there anything odd about your address?

Does she have all of your information right (postal code, etc.)?

Doesn't sound particularly normal to me.

Coming back once maybe, though why the post office wouldn't let her know that a package was waiting for her and I would have double checked the address before sending it off again. Coming back twice and still no notification from the post office...... hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

The only thing I would caution about is if you paid by paypal, and the item is expensive, and it sounds like it was, make sure you have recieved it before their deadline for a chargeback. If the seller can"t ship it and provide proof of shipping to you before this deadline (I think its 90 days but don't quote me as I've never done it). I would tell the seller that you're canceling the sale and get your money back from paypal.

I've dealt with good sellers who seem to have inordinate problems with the postal service (although, to be honest, I sometimes suspect the problem is getting *them* to the post office. ^^;;; )

After awhile, the excuses wear a little thin, but if I know of them from the hobby and trust them, or if they have lots of good feedback from different people, or people I know, I just sort of buckle down and wait.

Variety of feedback is a good indication, for me. If the feedback is mainly from one or two other people, be suspicious that these other people may be "sock puppets" - different identities for the same member, there to provide the illusion of honesty.

There are not many true scammers out there (in my opinion), but they do exist, and they depend on people's niceness and patience. To be safe, I would follow Lyrajeans advice and ask for proof of shipping before initiating a claim with Paypal.

Hiya, thanks for the replies. I've double checked all of my information and have "United Kingdom" down instead of Scotland, I have this on my Ebay items and it was fine with a previous doll. I put the first send-back down to the postal strikes but the second one was a bit odd! I think it says alot(positively) about the seller that she's sending him by the more expensive shipping option out of her own pocket though(as well as getting a tracking number). Fingers crossed he'll be here by this week! It's been so long that it almost feels like getting a free doll!

Hiya, just thought I'd give a quick update! I now have a tracking number(which as usual with Parcelforce, isn't appearing on their tracking thing)! There was family illness in the seller's family so it was delayed further but to be honest, I'm just glad that it's on it's way now. The tracking number not working does make me a bit nervy I'll admit but Rodion's number didn't work right up until the day he arrived.

I'm glad that your DZ Yi is on your way to you now. I have a friend who had problems somewhat like yours and in the end, the doll got lost in the mail. @_@; The seller sent her another doll in exchange for the lost one but the replacement cost almost half less than what she was supposed to get and a refund of some of the money (but not all). But in the end, after MONTHS (@___@;.) of waiting, my friend was just glad that she got a doll (she fell for the doll when it arrived, in the end, so it was okay) and some money instead of getting nothing at all. (I still feel bad for my friend though.)

Yeah you'd think that the seller would try to make up the difference completely. Still, it's good that she loves the new doll. I kind of wanted him to arrive before Christmas but I guess the seller can't really help circumstances. *waiting patiently now*

I hope your doll turns up very soon... I am nervously awaiting a $1600 doll from Spain & even though I have a tracking # there is no info at all. I'm about to die here!

Well according to Parcelforce, my boy is out for delivery now. Looking at it, it appears that he wasn't even posted until the 27th...can't be 100% sure but I really don't know how good the feedback should be...

Date Time Location Tracking Event

31-12-2007 07:25 Motherwell Depot Out for delivery
31-12-2007 06:52 Motherwell Depot Arrived at delivery depot
30-12-2007 21:32 International Hub En route to delivery depot

27-12-2007 21:25 Delivery Agent - HONG KONG - PTT Left origin country

Good luck with your doll, Stinkerbell! Parcelforce seems to actually be working today for once so it might be worth having a look !

Well he's arrived and he was worth the wait!

After a quick face-up. He seems like an Orlando for now but I'll probably play about with names.
