General Info
Created by Korean sculptor Kim Kiyong,
DollShe was the first company to offer 70cm dolls, beginning in 2003 with it's release of it's first male doll, Bermann. The design and structure of the body was also unique and innovative as it was the first BJD which featured a double jointed body, allowing it a much wider degree of movement and therefore posing ability.
Before the Bermann release in 2003,
DollShe offered 3 girl dolls: Agasi April, Dodosha and Mong (57cm). Other girls, Salubia (57cm) & Mai (25cm) followed in late 2004, and Ru (26cm) & Afghan Hound (68 cm) in 2005. Moon, a cute elfish doll (26cm)was released in 2006.
The first run of Bermanns was limited to 77, though in early 2005
DollShe introduced a new head mold and body by the name of Hound for general, unlimited sale. Since then, numerous other head molds have been added (all named after specific dog breeds) to accomodate the 'hound body'. To name a few: IM (Impressive) Hound, SA (slack afternoon) Hound, Saint, Bernard, and Van.
Currently,
DollShe dolls are available through one of several authorized agents (Such as
Luts and Tensiya). They are available in white, normal, and tan skintones, though certain newer dolls can only be obtained in tan skintone through Tensiya.
Update 2010:
DollShe is now only available at Dollstown. Some mold have been Discontinued (Hound). There are new molds available (Orijean, Rosen), and a new style body. These can now be ordered in 6 skintones: Paleskin, Freshskin, Orientalskin, PaleTan, Tanskin, Ebonyskin.
