Hullo guys! I got an invite to DoA from a friend, but when I click the email link I get the following...

JUNE?? Goodness! Are they having some sort of crazy server-overloading issues? Does anyone know anything about this? I'm a little disappointed, I've been waiting to get on for ages.

They sometimes open and close registration, I had that problem when I invited one of my friends to the forum. I think if your friend PMs one of the mods, it might be able to get you situated or able to get more info about it.

Weird. I have no idea what they are doing with the registration process. It's sad that it's so difficult, though!

Partially its to keep the people who have been banned out, and I think its also to keep it mare seclusive. They have periods of open registration and periods of "Invite only". The best thing to do is to try to find someone you know who is a member to invite you. Thats what I had to do.

well now i only go for information and rarely post thing =-=
i was banne one time behaving normaly 0_o;;;( not for long by chance was from the marquet place so now iam safe and will stay safe hehe)
but o well its now pass ive learn the hard way i guess

It's 17th June 2012 now, and DoA still says, "Invitation Only". I've been reading this thread though, and I've taken the advice to write to them, as I am a complete Newbie and know only one person so far! I guess I'll see what happens.

My main reason for wanting to access it, is to try to buy a doll 2nd hand. I do not own a BJD yet, as the two dolls I have found so far that I would love to buy are sold out, so my only option is to buy them 2nd hand, providing someone is actually selling one.

From investigating BJDs and reading as widely as I can (so many sites out there yet to read) it seems very much that this particular hobby is not an easy one to take up and requires a lot of patience!

I guess, over time, by chatting with people and getting involved, eventually, a way to DoA might be found.

if you can read french theyre always material celeste
no need to register by friend or so and direct access to market place lot lesspainfull then trying fo rever with doa right ( well its a option in the meantime right ^^)

you could always do like a lot of people theyre they use a translation thingy ^^
but a lot actually speack english if you pm them thell enderstand ^^ i hope ^^

Thanks Trixy! Actually, I can read a little French, as I'd been learning it using the Michael Thomas method of learning language. I'll give material celeste a try.

Also, a new friend recently invited me to DoA, and my request is now in the final stage of being in a moderation queue, so I have my fingers crossed that they will add me!

Good to read from people experiencing the same problem. I am also new to the hobby. There are quite a few dolls that I like. DoA seems to be such a good resource to find out more about them. I'd like to see more owner pics, but when I google my way into DoA, the links to the photos are blocked (sigh!). I emailed DoA to apply for membership in June and in August, but didn't get a reply. I understand that the moderators must be overwhelmed by applications from invited bjd fans alone. But it is still a little disappointing.

Actually...I don't even think anyone on here should want to go on DoA anymore. I have honestly had my fill of them. So many rules...mods always on your back if you even slip up once. Someone hacked all my stuff and tried to create a second account under my name. I tried to explain it wasn't me and that I'd been hacked, but no luck...I couldn't get in touch with ANY of the mods. >_> It ticks me off! I'm creating my own dolly forum soon and I will hopefully open a ball jointed doll shop and work with major companies like Fairyland and Leeke. I just need to figure out how to get it all started. Trust me...everyone is better off not joining DoA...

I tried numerous times join DOA, i eventually gave up trying, I no longer care to be honest, there are other forums out there!

Hmm, well I'm hopeful people will keep an eye out as, at the moment, DOA is closed for a week (mostly) for repairs, but there may be an open period coming up sometime shortly after that...I'm just wandering here because I'm experiencing withdrawal symptoms.

It's still the best place for information. And the Marketplace is very good.

It can be a big bother to try and get on it, but be patient. It really can be a useful resource.

Yes, DOA has a lot of rules but it helps in keeping the forum organized, polite and useful. They have a tight control over repeat topics and off topic posts and it makes the site easier to navigate. Also, I never had an experience with Mods not getting back to me? They always write back promptly.

My advice is just be patient and make sure you try to get in during a registration period.

I think it's that kind of snobbery that helps hinder anyone with a genuine interest in finding out more about BJD's. Don't get me wrong. I can understand keeping the forums guarded to an extent.

I'm still searching for an invite to DoA, but I wish registration was easier. I'd really like to join so I could have access to all posts. Although there are other BJD forums, DoA is the largest and contains the most information.
