Various Questions about BJD!

@.@ i didnt read the whole thread, i might get around to it later.... but im always so busy with work and that. So here's my questions.... (proebebly repeated!)
1. does anyone know how to get into DoA? i want to use the search feature but you have to be a member
2. im having trouble asking luts Q and A id they will make a fullset of junior delf terra doll, because it says "refused because of bad words" can anyone help on that? Dx
3. is there a size comparison chart that includes iplehouse YID boys?
4. does anyone know of cheap-ish clothing that would fit the above? because someone said iplehouse has longer legs then most dolls and i bought 1/3 size clothing, they didnt say measurements so i might be screwed..... D:
5. does anyone recommend companies? ive heard some people stick to the one company before....

EDIT: i have a new question, is there any male elf dolls currently in production? i wanna know if theres any i might like D:

Hiya! I've split your post into a new thread. Most of your questions are fairly specific, and you will get more answers this way than just posting in the general Q&A thread. Good luck! I will answer what I can.

1) DoA requires you to be invited by another user who is already a member, or else I believe you can contact the admins directly to request to be added as a member. Occasionally they do open registration, but it's fairly uncommon. Unfortunately we do not allow members of Resinality to ask other members for DoA invites. This is because when you invite someone to DoA, you are essentially held responsible for their actions; which means if they turn out to be a scammer, or a previously banned member coming back under a new name, then the person who invited them will also get in trouble. We don't feel right opening up our members to such a vulnerability. If you want to get an invite, I suggest that you make friends in the BJD community in general. Once someone knows you better, they may feel more comfortable offering you a DoA invite.

5) It's really a personal choice, and it's up to you. If you're able to attend a doll meet in your local area and meet lots of dolls, that may help you get a better feel for different company dolls, and you may find you have a preference... or you may not. Some people do, some people don't. I've played with a lot of different people's dolls from lots of different companies, and found pros and cons in all of them, but for myself I only own Volks and Alchemic Lab dolls, because they are the only ones that interest/satisfy me long term. I have friends who own dolls from a dozen different companies and love each one of them equally. It's all about personal taste, and I think you just figure it out over time.

Hope someone can help you with the other questions! (And of course there will probably be multiple ways of answering #5! )

thanks for helping me and i get why about the DoA but its fustrating when most of the database of information is on a forum that is closed to new members who want to get into this hobby! especially a newb like me with no direction and no friends/anyone who knows about the hobby! and since im in albany with no way to get to any doll meets..... =w= i feel so alone.....

Also i first got into bjds for a dream..... one dream! ;0; and that was a male dollfie dream from volks with one eye red and one eye blue..... cute blush as a face-up..... =w=;; for months i tried but all the companies i begged (mainly volks themselves) all said no to me..... :I

but im happy with my iplehouse soori and soon i will be buying a luts junior delf.... im hoping ill compare the two models/body/joints etc and see which one is the better poser....

im sorry to double post but is there anyone who will answer my questions?? also i have another question which would be pretty easy to answer.

What do you with your bjd's once youve completed their look? do they just sit there looking pretty? or do you 'play' with them? like dolly play? or another purpose? (because my dad thinks my doll will end up in the garage.....

I sadly don't have answers to all the questions since I've never had to ask Luts anything and have never had need to look up YID boys, but if I recall they had both a long leg and normal leg option? I believe long leg would have been 65cm? Most of my boys are that height and anything listed as 'SD13 long leg' is usually okay. It can be hit or miss sometimes though. My poor boys do have a number of high water pants that should in theory have fit. I'd hit up ebay though, they're one of my favorite places to peruse clothes and shoes and some shops are very decently priced.

As for the new question about what you do with them: That all depends on you. I like to photograph mine being pretty, or make photostories, they all have characters and interact with one another. I've done some sewing for mine, and hope to improve on it so I can do more, I've made wigs, and shoes. I've gotten into customizing them- painting, mods, inching into extreme mods-most of customizing I do for other people at the neglect of my own, but it brings in money, which is spent on things to enjoy mine all the more. Sometimes I take them places with me.
And some people make them beautiful and put them on display where they can enjoy them just as much but in a much less hands on sort of way.

if anyone could try to ask luts it would be great since i cant even make a sentence to ask them because of the refused bad words. With the YID boys my doll didnt come with an option and hes 63cm's with 14 inch legs which is really long to me hahaha but is it long for normal 1/3 bjd legs? because when i look at sizing they say 1/3, 1/4, 70cm, 1/6 etc... do i buy 70cm or 1/3? because some 1/3 look small D: but 70cm might be too big? or it might fit him....

well i kind of thought to myself as i was going to buy a limited edition doll..... "what would i even do with these dolls? are they just going to sit there? wat am i gonna do in two years time?" =w= man im so confused about life and about bjds... i so want to get into this hobby but like most of my hobbies i end up wasting a whole lot of cash and never touch them again :/

Ican't answer all of your qestions, and you've had som pretty god answerrs alredy, but I can add a little.

3/4. Look at Iplehouses page and find the measurments for the male Y.I.D. bodies there. You'll find the measurments if you look at any of the boys in qestion and just scroll down, past the pictures.
When looking to buy chlothes from other dollcompanies you can check the corresponding measurments for their dolls and se if it matches. If the bodies have simmilar measurements, chanses are good that the chlothes will fit your doll.
For makers of chlothing that does not make their own dolls, you can always ask what dolls their chlothes will fit. Even if your doll isn't listed among them you can still go and check the measurments of those dolls and compare them to your.

Sometimes it's a bit of detectivework, but there's a lot of info out there.
Just stay active and interested. And make the time to read through old posts.
