Fashion Contest at AnimeFest 2010

There are several ABJD panels on request for AnimeFest. The only thing I have confirmation on at this point is the Fashion Contest & Show.

Convention Info:
AnimeFest 2010 - Dallas Texas, Labor Day Weekend
http://www.animefest.org/

A little note on the Fashion Contest:
We are still working out prizes, but we know that there will be at least a Best Seamstress/Tailor award and a Grand Prize Award. The other prizes will be based on doll size - we are working on filling the prize bags before we announce how many will be available.

Some things to note:
1. Outfits should follow the theme of Asian Wonderland (open to your interpretation)
2. Outfits should be unique and one-of-a-kind - even those cosplay inspired, create something new for the character
3. Pre-made/purchased items are allowed so long as you have mixed-n-matched and created a unique fashion.
4. Things like dresses will need more than a pair of shoes and accessories to make them unique.
5. We strongly encourage entries to be new for AnimeFest 2010 - at the very least, they should be revamped.
6. If you enter a group, you may only place them in 1 size category (ex: you enter your SD boy with his MSD size girlfriend - only 1 of them is elegible for a prize, not both...so one of them is essentially an accessory for the other)
7. For the Best Seamstress/Tailor award you are allowed to use pre-made shoes and accessories such as stockings, hats, belts and jewelry. If you make it all yourself - be sure to note that on the entry form.
8. All dolls are welcome to enter so long as they fit the theme.

Complete rules and entry form coming soon. Please ask if you'd like them sent electronic.

Hope to see a few of you at AnimeFest and in the contest. I kinda decided that even if I get Ravis's robes completed, entering would be a tad underhanded since I'm one of the tie-breaker judges.

Darn!

A little update:

We won't have panel times/blurbs until end of this week at earliest.

Here is what we requested for panels:
Asian Dolls Intro/101 - Learn about Blythe, Dollfies, Pullips and other popular Asian dolls.
Asian Fashion Dolls - Customizing panel for Blythe, Pullip and other vinyl or plastic Asian dolls.
Dollfie/BJD Customizing - Basic tips and tricks to customize your resin doll.
Asian Dolls Fashion Show & Contest - Our theme is Asian Wonderland. All dolls are welcome to enter. Winners will be selected by audience vote.

Fashion Contest Basics:

Prize Categories
Large 56 cm and over
Medium 40 cm to 55 cm
Small 20 cm to 39 cm
Tiny 19 cm or less in size
1:6 Scale Fashion Doll
Grand Prize
Best Seamstress/Tailor

Voting:
The voting will be by audience favorites and the panelist are only acting and tie breakers for voting.
Pre voting will be done by the panelists and is to determine if the fashions fall w/in the framework of the rules or not and to determine if qualified fashions are elegible for the Best Seamstress Award.
Each entry will have an assigned number. Every person attending the panel will have a voting sheet w/2 spots: Favorite Fashion and then Best Seamstress.
For each size category, the entry with the highest votes wins that prize.
Best Seamstress will go to the Seamstress entry w/the highest votes.
Grand Prize will go to the entry with the highest over-all votes for Favorite Fashion.
It is possible for 1 entry to walk away w/3 awards: size award, Beast Seamstress and Grand Prize.

Door prizes will be given away at each panel and we are accepting donations.

If you have an etsy shop or other site bring bussiness cards and we will have space to put them out during the Fashion Show/Contest. It is also okay to hand them to people at the end of a panel or while strolling the convention.

Hopefully I see a few of you there.
