Smile Japan regional group

It seems like quite a few people interested in BJDs have been to Japan, so I thought having a regional group for Japan could be intersting. It's mainly for (past, present or future) residents or visitors.

It's for:

- Helping each other with the tedious stuff: signing up for YJ bidding/selling, figuring out the order methods for limited items, dealing with Japanese paypal, domestic payment methods, overseas shopping sites that accept Japanese payment, etc.

- questions/info/reports about attending doll events in Japan, dealers who attend events, arranging meet-ups.

- talking about all those Japanese shops and services that do NOT ship overseas!

- photos of your dolls in Japan.

- Doll-related stuff to do in Japan, doll-friendly sightseeing, etc.

- Anything really about life in, or travels around, Japan.

It would be great to have a place to talk freely about all the cool stuff that's available in Japan without every other comment being 'Do they take Paypal or ship to [elsewhere]?'

SO please do not ask other members to buy or bid on items for you or attend events on your behalf. Talking about Japanese buying/bidding services is off-topic unless it's a service you offer yourself.

Anyway, if anyone's interested, please sign up!

Well, actually in the Asian BJD owner's thread there is a Japan section, do you think there would be a need for a seperate Japan section? I suppose this would be for owners overseas that just visit Japan?

The Asian group seems to be 'for Asians anywhere' - I'm not Asian at all, I just live in Japan. Since there are a lot of doll events in Japan especially that people from many countries attend, it seems plausible to have one just for Japan. But if there isn't interest, that's fine too. ^-^

Well, I'm not Asian either, I'm just living in Japan as well, but as a doll owner living in Asia I figured that was the place for me as any doll meets I might be able to attend would be in Asia *laughs* It's not a bad idea, and there may be a desire for it, but I took the Asian group to be similar to the "West Coast" and "Australian" doll groups.

Ahh I wasn't sure. ^^; Since it says 'Every asian is very welcomed whether you live in the US or Europe as long as you're an asian,' it didn't seem to be geographically based to me, it seemed more for people of Asian descent. I'm not really sure how else to interpret 'as long as you're an asian,' though certainly I'd hope you're right. I guess this group would be more specifically inclusive of all cultural backgrounds, as long as one is, has been, or plans to be in Japan.

Ah, I didn't even really notice that part. Hm, well, if a new group is needed that's fine. I have no qualms either way.

Hey guys, sorry about that! Didn't realise that the Asia promotion thread there was actually contrary to the point of the 'Asia' user group, so we've removed it. The point of the Asia user group is indeed a locality based group, for people living in Asia, rather than for Asians living anywhere.

That said, if there's enough interest for a locality group for a specific country we're totally fine with having region-within-region groups. (I hope that makes sense! It's like how we have a Europe group, but also a UK group due to the large proportion of UK users. ) So if you can get enough interest for a Japan group we're totally fine with making it!

Good luck!

(In addition, if you're including past visitors/future residents, I'll put my own vote in here and now for a Japan group, as I've lived there before and hope to move there again next year. )

Another non-Japanese living in Japan. I'll follow where ever the action leads but I am interested in some of the topics Dezarii suggested. If it is under the Asia group or in its own Japan group that's ok...
