hi!

I just want to ask for a review/comment about Domuya and AoD dolls.
I need this for me to decide...

Here are my questions:

How's the Resin quality of Domuya/AoD?

How's the over all quality of Domuya and AoD dolls?

Describe the Resin Color.

Posing?

How long will I wait before the ship the doll?

How's their customer service?

Do you encounter problems with your doll?

Other comments...

Thanks for answering ^__^

I've had both. Domuya was your normal, formal ordering process, AoD I ordered from eBay.

I want to say I waited about a month and a half or almost two for my Domuya, and about two weeks for my AoD.

They both had nice quality resin, either the Domuya was denser resin, or the fact the flexi-body is a little stockier, it weighed a little more.

Both of them were BW, and the Domuya was a fairly close match to my BW El head. The AoD is dead on. Both bodies are white like a really pale white guy, not the OMG! white my Leroi Snow is.

Posing. >< The flexi body is the worst body I've ever dealt with. It was floppy, and the legs liked to spin around all the time. I'm not sure what I would have done if my boy had worn something besides necromancer robes, with all the fiddling I had to do. And the elbows! Those elbows sole purpose in life is to drive people insane! I even tried glueing those bastards in place, and they still popped out! (And before you think I "didn't give the body a chance" I had it for a month or two, and most of that time all I wanted him to do was sit nicely on the edge of my computer without falling over and killing my Cy Girls.)

The AoD body behaves nicely. Like my Leroi Snow, he has a doughnut-shaped part inside his torso, that really does better being glued down. (Otherwise it's longer than the Leroi's and will interfear with him sitting up if it gets out of place.) He holds most poses I put him in (but I'm not very demanding either, if I want extreme poses I play with my Obitsu) He also can have issues sitting up, I usually have to fiddle with his upper torso to adjust his center of gravity.

I didn't really talk to Domuya much, but the eBay seller for my AoD body was very nice. (I think he's the seller that's not selling them anymore though.)

For issues with the dolls, the flexi-body, the elastic isn't very good. I know of two people just on my LJ f-list who's has the elastic be sawed through by the ring at the top. (Domuya has a O-ring, not an S-hook) Also, the hands/feet were held on by crappy lanyard hooks that didn't allow much movement, and had a tendancy to pop off. I'd reccomend either getting some s-hooks, or most people just replaced the hooks with ribbon or embrodery floss.

On the AoD body, it wasn't so much an issue with the body, but the shipping method. The body didn't come in a box in a shipper, but was wrapped with bubble wrap with a flimsy cardboard box over that. (The box was actually squishy when I got it. Not wet squishy, but "I've been squished a lot" squishy.) My doll was OK though. (Good thing I only got a body, not a complete doll...)

I bought two 1/3 male bodies right after they came out on ebay. I was surprised that they came packed ok but in boxes shorter than they needed, so they had to be on their sides, knees bent.

The resin quality is very nice. The normal, however, (now this is based on my buy of 3 or so months ago, and I have no idea if they too will succumb to changes in resin color according to season and/or state of health of the staff), is a very pink-white, and doesn't match very many heads outside maybe DOD and the new DIM. Luts, even as pink as they are sometimes, are still more peachy in tone in comparison. I've had that body in a box for months, and I think it might be *warming* up a bit, but still doesn't match the extra heads I have.

The white, OTOH, is a lovely creamy white. Not Domuya pure bleached-paper white, but without the grey undercast some Soom white can have, and without the strong yellow cast Luts white used to have. (I say that because some people are swearing the new dolls are pure white lately.) I matched it with a Domuya head that has a melon-cantaloupe-colored blush on the cheeks and the match is fine.

The AOD 1/3 male body, however, has a left hand with pointing index finger, and a right hand that has a pointing index finger AND the rest of the fingers a solid block of "fist" resin. I would definitely consider changing hands if they don't come out with some alternatives soon.

The knees and elbows are double jointed, and work well. The knee joint piece, however, is slightly recessed, so it doesn't go all the way to the front, and when the leg is bent, there can be a bit of wobble and you have to realign before striaghtening (I put a thread up with pix on doa). I think the knee joint is the one to carefully glue-suede as time goes on (I didn't glue-suede the body yet, as being new, it poses very well, even if a bit squeaky due to the form-fitting of the joints. )

The only downside I've found is at the ankles -- boots have to be a little on the big side, since the bck of the ankles/leg/foot is a straight line, and any boots with an indent or shaping above the heel part will cause the doll to want to lean forward. I have yet to get a pair of boots MADE by AOD and try them.

I think that's enough blathering --

I bought a Domuya flexi body from them before Finn came out and my body despite a few minor flaws was sculpted beautifully while made of a nice dense resin. The colour was excellent and matched Elf doll perfectly and an old style Lishe head. There were a few untidy seams, nothing sanding could not fix. What I did not like was their quality control, there were a few specks in the resin that cannot be sanded out, due to dirt or dust falling into resin during the dusting process. This means you are stuck living with the mark, which for me was not in a very noticeable place, however this could have been very annoying if it had been on neck or hand. I bought this body during their half off sale and at the time it was excellent value for money. Now there is a flood of similar bodies for cheaper prices and in future I would try another company as the flexi body is no longer the best value for money.

I received a BW AoD body a few weeks ago. I am very impressed with the quality of the body and the resin.

The resin color is a perfect match to my BW ReChe head, although the size of the body is a bit large then I wanted for this head.

The joints seem to work very well and the posing is very good. I'm not a fan of the point coming off the forearm at the elbow. It's just not attractive

The heads looks better with a wig

I rather like Domuya. I have a male flexi, a female flexi and a Fin.

My male flexi is a bit floppy, but hot glue suede helped quite a bit. I also mean to restring him at some point. He's a blast to pose, I can make him do just about everything but stand by himself. lol. I was also really lucky in that the body matched the V. Elf Chiwoo head it was intended for very well.

The female flexi is strung better and much less floppy. She will stand on her own, but I find myself hovering. ^^;; I currently have a female Nanuri 07 on the body. The match was good before she got a faceup, but the faceup artist went a little wild with blush and/or MSC. So right now the body is a bit paler. The other complaint I have is that the neck is a bit thick, but I'm going to get some sand paper and see if I can't fix that.

My Fin is one of my favorite dolls. Almost all of the Fins are strung kind of loose. And her torso joints can be a pain if you're not careful. But she is beautifully sculpted with a ton of personality. I love her, can't say enough good things about her. The changes made to the Perennial body's joints are just awesome, you still get the same posing ability with less obvious cut outs.

I didn't wait especially long for my original flexis, I bought them during the first sale back in April. And I found Domuya to be very friendly. I bought my Fin on the DoA marketplace from one of the first people to receive her, so I can't really speak to their service more recently.

I just got the Domuya Flexibody Finn last week and want to rave about her!

How's the Resin quality of Domuya?

There's a few bubbles near the joint areas, but nothing major. I'm going to sand her anyway. The color is consistent though?

How's the over all quality of Domuya and AoD dolls?

I'm fascinated by the joints and I'm very pleased that they lock for posing. Her body is far too skinny for my tastes, but for the price of the Finn sale, it's really nice. Her fingers are the thinnest I've encountered and the feet and overall body is very elegant.

Describe the Resin Color.

Pale normal skin. :) Smooth like butter

Posing?

I was very worried that the Flexibody would fall down easily thanks to the amount of joints, but twice I've just picked her up and stood her with one hand! AMAZING! I love her so! She stays very well too :)

How long will I wait before the ship the doll?

About a month and a half for me, I think? Domuya to Los Angeles

How's their customer service?

Didn't need it...

Do you encounter problems with your doll?

Nothing a bit of sanding won't fix :D Her sternum is insanely pronounced :(

I have a Domuya D1-30 and I love her. The only thing is her right elbow doesn't lock right. She always seems to have her right hand extrnded out because of this. It would bother me in a big doll but it's not a problem in something so small. It just adds to her character. The resin is really great. I have BW but I've seen the NS. I held a Finn at a meet-up and she was incredibly heavy. Almost as heavy as an SD13 boy!

I just got a letter froms Belgian customs that they have my aoddoll and they want more information. What I can say about aoddoll until now is that in the future I will avoid ordering from them. They said it would take a month until they could ship her, I have been waiting 2 months and a half. I didn't receive any e-mail with my order number, I sent three e-mails about this and got NO response. I put an add ont their message board about this and they skipped it! They answered all the other adds but they skipped mine! After a long time I finaly found out my order number and the stutus said 'waiting for shipment', it still did after a week. A few days later I got my letter from customs and now it still says 'waiting for shipment'. I can't say anything about the quality yet, but I hope for them it's good.
