I'm looking at head molds from AOD for matching with an incoming Domuya flexibody. I'd like to hear opinions about this company as I haven't heard of AOD before. Is it one of those questionable chinese companies? Thanks :)
They are Chinese, but it's not a questionable company. However, there have been some customer service issues mostly relating to their Singapore agent (who for awhile had the only English website and who it appears has completely flaked out). There are now various US dealers carrying their dolls, and I think it would be less hassle for you to go through one of them (if you decide you want an AOD). Junky Spot, I know, has some in stock, and they're fabulous to buy from.
I'm still waiting on my AOD boy, but by and large the reviews of the dolls themselves have been very positive--it's just been issues with getting dolls from the Singapore site.
Ooooo Himitsu...XD
I've heard many good things about the dolls themselves, and the last one I saw and had a chance to handle really quite impressed me. In particular, I like the sculpt on the minis.
Dolls and Friends also carries them, and I'll vouch for their service being every bit as good as Junky Spot's. There's plenty of spots to get them in the US, thank goodness.

ahhh but is there any place in the US to get *just* the heads? :D
HI TEZ!
HI SONGBLADE!! XD
I'd email and ask. I know Emory's been known to split up dolls on request before. I don't know if Kathy & Co. would, but it's always worth asking.

I had an AOD boy, Gu. For the price he was wonderful. A great poser and one of the more masculine dolls. I much prefer AOD over many of the other Chinese dolls.
And yes, as far as I know heads and bodies can be acquired separately.

I've heard nothing but good things about the bodies, they seem to be attractive in person, not only cheap!

I've had the AOD 1/3 boy bodies since they first came out. The only problems I've found is a fitting problem with some boots made by other companies (if there's an indent above the heel part, it forces the doll to lean forward, since the AOD leg/angle/heel is a straight line). I haven't gotten boots from AOD directly to try yet.
The knees are the only joint I can see needing to be sueded after a while, because of the set-back of the knee joint piece and a certain amount of *wobble* there after awhile.
And the hands on the 1/3 boy, with the two pointing fingers and one fist, are crying out to be changed!
Otherwise, although the 1/3 boy bodies squeak as you move them, they pose great right out of the box. The normal skin, though, is a pinkwhite. The white, however, should match close to Domuya white. I have a Domuya head on an AOD white. The body is a little creamier in tone (not paper white), but with the peach-colored blushing the head has, they blend perfectly. Still trying to find someone to match the normal body, though.

I just received my AOD girls 43cm sized body that Im going to use for a Unoa faceplate once I get my headback for it from the talented Kaye Wiggs. the match seems quite good and Im looking forward to having a body for one of my extra faceplates. Ive seen a completed hybrid with the white AOD body and Unoa and I must say it looks so good

I saw an AOD 1/3 boy irl(no idea which sculpt though), the hands were..weird, but that was the only thing I saw about it that I didn't like, the facesculpt was beautiful and easy to photograph and the skintone was wonderful. I haven't touched him so I can't say about how the resin feels, but if you're only looking for a head, AOD could be a realy nice choice.
I just got my 1/3 boy this weekend--his resin feels really nice and smooth, and boy is he heavy. He's very substantial. His sculpt is nice and masculine and he's got lovely double jointed elbows and knees. I'm very pleased with him.

Syl, ask Emory. He might be willing to split - plus, he's in San Fran, so you may be able to just drive up and have a look? :)

How are you connecting the head with the Unoa body? I'm curious about trying one with a Narin head.

The 1/4 female body looks MUCH better in reality than it does on the site. I really didn't like the body and was just going to get a head. But I got a phenomenal deal on eBay for the doll complete, and I don't regret the decision at ALL.
As a note, out of the box she posed wonderfully, but it took only a couple hours for her to get floppy. But it wasn't anything a hot glue suede wasn't able to fix. When I bought her, the previous owner had her in a box since she'd bought her and hadn't played with her at all. I have no idea if that had anything to do with the elastics loosening so quickly.
I have nothing bad to say about the dolls. They're not $500 dolls, but they're worth way more than they're sold for. I didn't deal directly with the company, so I can't really talk about their business practices.

I am hoping to get a white 1/3 scale girl body in a couple weeks from Stella's. I don't need the head, would anyone here like to go in on a split? Not sure how to do this, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

what skin color did you get and do you have a link to a picture that shows the resin match? I am thinking of doing this as well but want to be sure I get a good match.

I got normal skin ( not white) Some of my older Unoa faces are much yellower, but the newer pinkier ones are fine.
Here are pics in my LJ

Thanks! I will be ordering one I guess. Is it just me or are the feet quite a bit longer? Also, do the unoa hands and feet fit?

AOD was accused of copying DZ dolls on Chinese forums late last year. Nothing concrete was found as evidence but the discussion rages on and hasn't died down yet. A little back ground. Two brothers started DZ, when it got big, the younger brother started a power struggled and forced out the older brother. Older brother brought a buncha people with him to found AOD. Hence the bad blood.
