Alright, I'm pretty amateur when it comes to face-ups, but I have successfully done a few and more or less know what I'm doing. I've had my Unoa L-bi for several years, and I believe he came with a factory face-up.

I spent about three hours today trying to get that damn face-up off, and there's still some left over. I used acrylic paint brush cleaner, soap and water, Mr. Clean eraser, and a (slightly) abrasive sponge, but there are still some dark shadows around his eyebrows from the black used on his eyelids.

Now, I did get most of his face-up off, and I am also blushing his body, but I was wondering: does anyone else have trouble getting pigment to stick to Unoa resin? I am using a bit of a weird sealant (Folk Art by Plaid acrylic sealer), so maybe it doesn't have the right texture that you might get from MSC, and I'm using pastel dust, not an airbrush or paint, so...

Am I just doing it wrong? :< I can't get any color to stick on my L-bi's face. Am I just too impatient and should work in more layers of pigment and sealant? I've actually had pretty good results with the rest of his body, but his face is particularly stubborn.

it might be the sealer. I've only done two face-ups, but I always have to layer the colors for them to build up (But then I use generic Michaels pastels). I use Testor's dullcote which kinda works like MSC.

Yeah, I don't have much to add, but hope this helps! :P

I'm using generic pastels and American MSC alternatives, too. xD But I just ordered some more MSC, so maybe that will give me better results.

I also ended up just sanding his whole face, and that seemed to help, too. Unoa resin is just kind of... shiny! Luckily, I did get his body blushing done. Now it's just a matter of being patient with his face-up.

Thanks for the help, anywho~ c:

You could use nail polish remover to take off the old faceup.

I have trouble getting colors to stick with other BJDs, too, so I don't think it has anything to do with Unoa resin specifically. Faceups can be stressful, especially when there are all those guides out there that make it look so easy. I guess this goes for anyone, but just be patient when doing faceups.

I use Windor and Newton to removed faceups. My unoa girls were both send off for faceups when I had them, though ^^. I have heard that unoa resin is super hard for pigment to stick to!

Nail polish remover always seems to work for me when all else fails. Get the non-acidic type. Nail polish remover in general is pretty strong stuff so wipe the old faceup off as quickly as possible and rinse the nail polish remover residue off with soap and water.
