View Full Version : Fun! So how do you pronounce EID?

I've always been in habit of referring to Iplehouse's big boys and girls as "Eed." Because saying E.I.D. as an acronym is way too similar to I.E.D. or "Improvised Explosive Device," the latter of which I deal with at work regularly. :oops

I'm sure that an E.I.D. can be rigged as an I.E.D. (although that's a waste of a perfectly good E.I.D!), and it makes me all tongue twisted and it's just easier saying "Eed" or "Sid" or "Jid" etc.

How does everyone else deal with it? :D

Well I'm sure you heard me, but I call them EE EYE DEES. Or Mr Muscles and on occasion one ton resin arse...like after 5 hours of walking casinos.:lol

BAHAHA! ^

I always think E.I.D. like toshirodragon. Same with all the others when it comes to dolls.
But when it comes to things like OMG - I'm thinking all the words the letters represent: Oh My Gawd! :XD (and sometimes in a Valley Girl tone...)
But with dolls, I usually just read the letters as is. (I'm unimaginative.)

I've always read it as others have already stated as E.I.D. -shrugs-

I think of the E.I.D. sized dolls as their initials, but for some reason I read the S.I.D. sized dolls as the name 'Sid.'

I'm boring...it is just E I D...like the letters sound.

or as the hubby calls him - The MAN Doll...the others are all the boys or the brats.

I say Ee Ai Dee, too, although for some reason I say Sid and Jid O_o;. I've always wanted to know how to pronounce JID I's name - Ai, or Ee? Or even Ih, like the i-sound in sit? Somehow I doubt that one :sweat . . .

I'm on the alphabet side with the others. Ee Ay Dee, Ess Ay Dee, Jay Ay Dee. I never even thought about it, but it's just how they come to mind for me.

Even though I know they are E.I.D's, I have this super bad habit of constantly thinking and sometimes even saying I.E.D's just because that's the way my dyslexic brain thinks they should be called apparently. lol

But yeah I usually pronounce it Aye Eee Dee's/Eye Eee Dee's (IED) or when I remember it's actually the other way round, which sadly isn't all that often Eee Aye Dee's/Eee Eye Dee's. (EID.)

I always pronounce it by the letters, I never realized about IED, so I don't feel at all weird saying it. Of course, some people might mishear me and get the wrong idea. XD

I've never really thought about it before, always called them E.I.D's. But I suppose you could pronounce them as a name, Eid (eed). Jid and Sid work for the others, so why not. I think I like pronouncing it as letters better though.

I guess people can just call them "Elder" dolls, if they don't like the acronym...

I'm boring and just say E. I. D. ...

although I guess if one wanted to make up something fun, like "Fantastic Big Iple Hunks!" (or "Girls" or "Chicks"), I'm sure people would know what they're talking about! :D

I pronounce it by the letter lol. What I have a problem with is some of the names. I wonder if we really are pronouncing them the way the company does. For example is the company Iplehouse (eye-pull-house) or is it eple (like Simple)? For Bichun, is it by-shuun or bee-choon?

*_* Good question, every time I see a name I really have to think back on vowel sounds like when I was little. EID I pronounce it as "ID" the "E" is silent.
