I don't know if this comes close to product reviews...but I'll just stick it here anyways XD. If it's also possible to start a "clothing fit" user group, that'd be great too.
It's my constant quest for finding things that properly -fit- Delf boys...and I don't just mean that you can button it up on them XD.
The 4D Bamboo is a very fitting style of clothing, hence it became more important for me to find the right size. So I gave both Bamboo (Wine, SD13 boy) and Bamboo (Wine, for SD13 girl) a try and compared the fitting.
I don't have any pictures because a lot of it is personal pickiness and preference, and the differences don't show up very well on camera. But here goes:
Comparisons of Bamboo Girl/Boy fit on Delf Boy:
1. It turns out that girl-sized Bamboo isn't that much shorter than guy-sized bamboo. Laid-out flat the girl-size is about 1-1.5cm shorter. In actuality both will fall sufficiently long on Type-2 Delfs because they are after all, a bit shorter than long-legged SD13s (a bit longer than floor-length on bare feet and just about floor-length for the girl-size if wearing high heels or boots).
2. Waist and hip-fit is a bit wide for boy-Bamboo, and perfect for girl-Bamboo. This was within expectations.
3. I do like the braided buttons on girl-Bamboo better, although both looked pretty. Boy-Bamboo buttons have smaller and more delicate knots, however.
4. Armholes are slightly more fitted for girl-Bamboo.
5. Right-hand side with the buttons going down--boy-Bamboo's fit is very smooth, girl-Bamboo's fit is more bumpy but adjustable by pulling the flaps into spot.
6. Boy-Bamboo and girl-Bamboo have the same width collars (perimeter-wise)...it looks better on the guy outfit since the fit at the shoulder is wider. It can also just be sewing differences of each dress.
7. Girl-Bamboo of course, has seam lines leading from the shoulders and down the chest for breasts. The lines are a bit busy-looking up-front for a boy, I think it depends on personal preference though...it can either bother you a lot or not at all. 4D did say that the dress can also fit SD10 boys so maybe they don't see it as a problem either.
In summary girl-Bamboo fits and hugs the body shape of Delf boys much better than boy-Bamboo, although Delf boys can still look great in boy-sized Bamboos (I'm just picky!! Can't stress that enough XDD). And I think it's possible to adjust the knots (take them down and move them back) on the boy-outfit for a tighter look.
In addition it's worthy to note that the background of the japanese fabric used for Bamboo (wine) is actually a dark cream/vanilla-based color, not as white or bright as it shows up on the official pictures. The sample pictures for Bamboo (Wine/for girl) stay more true to what the actual colors are.
The quality and work of 4D clothing are as usual, excellent.
