Question, for the USA region usergroups can we have a list of which states should go where? ^^; According to wiki Arizona can be included in either West Coast or Southwest so I'm not sure which group I belong in.

Very very good point! See, this is why we did a limited release! Y'all catch stuff for us! We will go ahead and put in the states so there won't be any confusion!

Eep, good question! XD We'll work on mapping that out and add it to the post so there won't be further confusion about it. Thanks for pointing that out! =D

I'm curious, since there are locality user groups instead of meet-up groups, would it be a good idea to have separate groups for large events such as Volks Dolpas or BJD Conventions where people outside of an area would have an interest in?

Just wondering.

Yep, that's what we're aiming for! Please see the Petitioning and Promoting (http://www.abjds.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35) thread. :) Anyone who wants to start a petition for a group for a convention is more than welcome to do so. I think it'd be great for people looking for roomies, or wanting to organise to meet up before, during or after the event.

Also, if you think you have enough people in your area to support a user group for them, you're welcome to petition for that as well. We're not putting a limit on how big or small the 'locale' has to be in order to have a group, and the initial groups we've created are just sort of larger catch-all groups. If you want a group for your state -- or even just your town -- and have the people to support it, please feel free to start a petition! :)

Just to note that the above no longer applies -- we're going to ask people to stick to the larger regional USA groups for now. Please make as many city/state-specific threads inside your regional group as you need. :)

Sorry if this is the wrong place to put a question about user groups...

But, I currently live in Japan, but am a lifelong resident of the Northeastern US, so I signed up for both groups as most of my "real-life" BJD friends are split between both places. Is this ok?

hum, some of the user groups like Suntan are not showing up in the list of available groups in the control panel....is it just that the list needs to be updated there?

Also, once a group is set-up, will the threads be locked or removed? It's a little confusing in that section of the forum.

I understand, everyone is very busy. Just thought I would ask. Thank you very much for your time with all of this.

It's absolutely not a problem! There's no "official" requirement on which locality user group you should join, and certainly nothing that says you only have to join one, either. Merely that the locality user groups were designed to foster discussion related to that area, so that's what we're expecting them to focus on. If you're happy to read discussion that doesn't always pertain to you due to location, then please, go right ahead and join whichever group you like. :) (I know that even if I moved overseas, I'd always want to be in the Australia group!)

The list in the control panel automatically updates itself when we create new user groups. :) I just checked both with myself, our test account (who is a 'regular' user) and our Admin account, and all of them can see the Suntan group listed.. :oops Can you double check for me and let me know if you can see it? The list on that page is in alphabetical order rather than any order shown in the above list; locality groups are intermingled with normal groups. (Unfortunately we have no control over that!) If you still can't see it, I will check further into your account, although I just had a quick look at it and it seems to be fine.. :sweat

With the threads, we had not made a final decision on them, but my thought had been to leave them there for a week or so before removing them so that others could see if/when they had been created, even if they are not here daily. :) We did intend to lock them though, so if any aren't locked, I'll go and fix that now.
