I've been slowly won over by Soom's mecha angel boy Sabik. I originally didn't think I needed an extra large hyperrealistic pretty boy, but after seing what owners are doing with them, he's growing on me.
What are your thoughts about this new XL size. Pluses, minuses, etc... opinons on posability etc...
Owners feel free to add your 2 bits too!

My MA Corvi is still on Layaway, but I am hoping to have him soon.
I find myself looking at photos of him pretty much every single day, it's like I am addicted to him :D. He is extremely masculine and so realistic looking. This is the reason I bought him. Personally I prefer the more adult looking sculpts as opposed to the more childlike. That is what makes these MAs so unusual, and I prefer the unusual.
In fact the Mecha Angels are my whole reason for getting into this Hobby in the first place. When I first saw a photo of them in HauteDoll magazine I was just so entranced by their beauty.
Some people complain that this size of doll is difficult to get clothing for. However I have solved this problem for myself by getting all his measurements from the website and making him tons of clothes. He is coming home to a rather vast wardrobe :)

My opinion, too limited, too much money, and AoD makes a bigger boy.
True they are pretty and such but, I've been saturated with so much "pretty" I can walk away from it.

Well, I sew for all my dolls, so clothing aside from shoes is not an issue for me. In fact I might be interested in selling clothes for his size once I get some patterns made. I see I'm not the only one with that thought.

I don't have anybody Sabik's size yet. I'm still on the hunt for the the right doll. But if you want to see my work (msotly in SD13 size ATM) just check out my album or do a gallery search for my posts. :) Or visit my LJ:

Most of my photo spam either consists of showing off the new resin kids or their new clothes.
Personally I'm not too wild about the MA boys, their body sculpts don't really appeal to me. I do really like Rex's face, though, so maybe one day.. But I really want the MA girls Saiph and Deneb, I'm saving up for one and I'm excited to see their impressive size in person.

I don't mind the limited ordering period. It ups the anticipation and dare I say "joy of saving" and ordering for me, haha. And on size, I don't think it's about owning the biggest doll made, which is what it sounds like you're implying here. Like any mold it should be about what sculpts appeal to a person the most, and for me that makes the MAs completely worth the price.

I don't like their bodies at all. The proportions look bizarre to me. The heads are neat but the bodies, not my thing.

I have a Mecha on layaway with SDink, its her Deneb boy I had to get, 1 more payment and he is all mine, hope to have the money before December, then I got to get some clothes for him and get another doll bench or chair. A doll this big is going to tower over my other dolls for sure:hyper

I really like them but I want to see one in person before I even buy one. The girls except Saiph look a little manly... their faces do.

Those jointed hands they have available for them are quite awesome-looking! :D Does anyone here own a pair?

I got my Sabik, Seth in the first 50 run in 2007. Overall I adore him and think he's the best of the big doll (70cm or over) for weight, posability and beauty.
pluses:
Lighter than my 70 cm DZ and Dollshe
Easy to find shoes for.
Great poser and stands stabily. (Just like with any doll, it takes practise to balance consisantly)
He's a show stopper. nothing compares to the attention my gentle giant gets when I take him out.
Looks good in clothes. His arms look best clothed
He's well hung (if you're into that sort of thing like me)
Negatives:
Finding clothes can be a challenge
restringing is tough as the neck hole in the upper torso is small.
Naked he does look thin. He can do bare chest/open shirts and look normal though.

I just received my Sabik normal skin. I think he is great. He is body blushed and I like him. Some of the model doll size clothes fit him-shoes and some tops. So he fits in nicely with my other guys. I love his body sculpt. He is realistic in that he is not a beauty face, but one that looks like someone I know.

I bought some jointed hands for my Mecha Angel a couple of weeks ago. They are completely AMAZING! I had a little doubt about them when I looked at the photos but in person they are so BEAUTIFUL and pose like a dream!

I love the Mecha Angels but they're very expensive and really, only being able to buy them 5 days out of the month is annoying.
As much as limited dolls annoy me, those get me WAY more!

Well patience is never a common trait with us doll people:) So you're not alone there.
MA's are expensive compared to what? AOD's 90cm boy is around the same price. $600+ is kinda average for anything over 70cm, and considering how much resin they use making a doll that large...it's reasonable. It's the price you pay for BIG

I like big dolls :3 When AoD came out with the 90s I had to have one. THough 1 is enough xD
I just don't get the waiting periods, since all the dolls are make on demand. If they had some pre-made and only had a window it'd be a different story for me.
Also comparing prices:
MA - $655 for a no face-up doll
AoD 90 - $610 WITH faceup
So the Mecha angel is more for less 10cm and a face.

Every time there is a post with photos of Sabik I look at the pictures. I think the MA are wonderful. I would love to see one in person. Sabik wasn't recently available and I got waylaid and bought Chrom instead.

I thought 70cms was the talllest BJD made
These guys are HUGE!!
think I will stick with my 60cms for the minute, maybe graduate to 70cms, but I can't fit these big-boys in!!
