I feel that I can post and not worry what people will say. I can't remember when bought my first BJD, It was from Minako (a deputy shopper) and Megu has no head plate. It was fun shopping then because Minako would send pictures of what I was looking for. Minako would also stand in line at Dolpas and get dolls that I would request.
I hope Resinality stays its friendly self.

:heart I have to admit, I come here to relax too! I'm glad people are enjoying it here.
The admins, I think, do a great behind-the-scenes job at keeping it this way. :kisses But it's the members who keep it so fun!

I just joined and i have to admit i am liking resinality already, it's seems like an awesome place to relax and it's fantastic that it's so friendly because ultimately this is what it should be, a friendly and relaxed place for people who share a common passion to hang out and share their love for BJD'S.

I agree -- the atmosphere here at Resinality is so relaxing and friendly.
And, Stephanie/pake4pleasanton --
I remember Minako! She got my Mika for me by working with the manager of a Volks shop. Back then there weren't many alternatives to get a BJD, and Minako was so kind. :nod

I'm reasonably new here too, and I'm impressed by the lovely relaxing atmosphere, not to mention the mine of information available here!
I also see a few members who I already know from other boards, which is reassuring - it MUST be good here!!!

I only just joined so I don't know what people are like here. Hopefully I'll stay around. The topics are good. :)

yes, I agree. DoA makes you feel like you're walking on eggshells. You can't say anything without being 'jumped' for it. I've taken a few 'hits' there and decided to join smaller communities such as Resinality. You're right it is very comfortable here. And I'm very comfortable on some of the other smaller forums.
I was even able to be so bold as to ask an iffy question without being torn up for it. I'm still in shock. :omgwtf

You are right, DanceCat. I've been a silent reader in DoA, and I'm surprised of its strict rules, and some people do get defensive. This forum is more suitable for a newbie like me. I'm more comfortable posting here, hoping to make new friends and gain more knowledge :)

I agree with you completely I won't say what forum it was. I had the same problem. I joined here in hoping it would be relaxed and reading this makes me feel 100 times better.

It is nice having a forum like this, where honest opinions are somewhat more acceptable!

Just joined but thinking I like the community more than others - people here seem warmer and more inviting, nowhere near as insular or self-centered. At DoA I'm either ignored, brushed aside, or outright snipped at over PMs :(

Since coming here from DoA I've actually found I like the hobby a lot more now that I've found resinality. Everyone here is genuinely a lot nicer and warmer over here.
Plus, I feel like everyone is actually willing to help each other with concise step by step guides if they know how to do something.

My boyrfriend got eaten over on DoA, he posted about DRBJD and how they copied the Dollzone Body WITH PHOTO PROOF (I own both), and that earned him hate from people who were "Wai every1 say dey copi? i haet u" and the mods taking his posts and locking them, with a nasty PM about talking to mods first (despite the fact he did PM them back and was answered with silence.). It like they care/don't care unless it involves Volks somehow. (._.)
He's also taken other slings and arrows for other topics by trying to be logical.
Much nicer here.

I have to say that in defense of DoA, there is a lot of really great information and in certain subforums, the search rule is really nice. For example, when learning about how to do face-ups, it's nice to have ONE thread about pastels (which only get's posted in once every few months) instead of several with only a few posts each.
However, it seems like conversation is pretty much prohibited on the forums. Certainly, there are some where conversation wouldn't be needed, such as the Marketplace or the Tutorials, but in the General Discussion? Why can't people have a back and forth conversation about their dolls?
Also, in places like the General Discussion, old threads get stale and it's near pointless to resurrect them sometimes.

I like Resinality, too, for its friendliness and openness. Of course, mods on any site or forum need to maintain certain rules and policies for the benefit of all. But the mods here are not 'in your face' and the general atmosphere is very accepting.
While I am a member of other forums meant for all, I also like being on a forum for those over 18. I feel as though there are a great many of us who are pretty well past our teen years and who need a general forum to talk about the hobby as it relates to us as adults.
Thank you for Resinality!

I am so very thankful to have found Resinality.
I'm a newb, getting ready to buy my first doll (a ResinSoul JU), and while I've learned TONS from stalking around the BBB and RS threads on DoA, the site overall made me uncomfortable... they've had registrations shut down for almost a month, making it feel overly exclusive, and casual conversation seemed to be looked down upon for the most part... if something is even minutely off topic, the mods seem to be a little trigger happy shooting people down.
After about 5 minutes of lurking around Resinality, I could tell this site was more of what I was looking for: a place to nerd out about dolls, ask questions, and get friendly replies. :D
Thank you people of Resinality for being so awesome!

Out of all the forums I have been on so far, both Resinality and Men With Dolls have been the best experience.
I won't mention the worst ones though, to protect the guilty...

Awww...thanks everyone!
As mods we try our best to be as "hands off" as possible when it comes to what people post. Aside from the occasional spammer and troll we've found folks here to be fairly well self-policing outside from only a few incidents where things perhaps got a little too boisterous. Hee! Of course, we also understand that that can happen or people can have bad days, etc.
Also, I am checking in every morning and afternoon (into evening when I'm off work) so if you have any questions PM me and I will do my best to answer!
Thanks again, everyone!

Well This is the only forum i've signed up on but i've lurked in a few others and this by far the most comfortable. I don't feel scared to ask a question and I feel like I can hang out and talk about my dolls :D . And since I'm a total noob :blush I was very happy to find someone that lives really close to me so I can see their dolls and learn from them. This community seems very welcoming and warm and i'm glad I found this forum :yey.

I like that the mods here mod OMG! So far I've seen them swat trolls and correct misinformation, but really haven't seen them jump into a disscusion and inform someone that they are stupid (DoA mod did that too me, of course her post was deleted later) or add fuel to the fire with "OMFG! You can't think I'd ever stoop to buying a CHINESE doll...."
Nice quiet place here...

I posted a question in the Q&A section and immediately got a bunch of helpful responses. This seems to be a really nice group. :)
This does seem like a very friendly group.

I like how you can discuss anything in the general discussion board as long as it relates to BJDs in some form or fashion. On DoA, it's common to have several people in the thread only comment to let you know there are threads like that (back seat modding, anyone?).
It was also aggrivating that it took nearly three weeks for me even to be able to join that forum (which I joined for the market place >.>). It is a lot easier to post here.
I did find a lot of vital information at DoA so I'll probably not stop stalking there. I just like having a place where I can actually...y'know....respond?

I sold all my dolls and have been out of the BJD community for years now because I could not take the drama and pressure. That was when Resinality was rather new. I'm glad this place turned out to be such a great place for everyone.

In my case the bjd community, not all of it, rejected me. So I continue to enjoy my dolls with my friends. Resinality makes a nice place to post photostories were they're easily accessible to everyone. And our mod here is very nice about taking care of twits.
Now if we could just lure a few of the DoA MP sellers over to mirror post...

I like it here too. I am new tho I have collected dolls for some time I have kept my head down in all the forums due to the back lash I have always seen. There does not seem to be a nasty level of that here.. I am happy to have a good place to come now.
Although I just joined today, I love the fact that you don't have to wait to be "approved" to join here. I originally tried to join DoA, but they still haven't accepted me into their forum yet. Maybe it just takes a long time for them or something, but that wait is a pain when you want to know info ASAP lol :D Also, again, I'll repeat others on the having room for conversation. I like that a lot! I wont have to worry about what is a correct post :oops

Aw...so they aren't going to let me in? :( Well, that's a downer. Oh well, if they are going to be like that, I will just chill out here where I am accepted lol :nod From what I've read, the people on here are nicer anyways :D

I don't know and can't say.. I'm not allowed there. Opened my mouth to protest once too often.
I do know that they have gone to an invite system so you need to get an "invite" from a current member. I've no idea what they do if you have no friends already there....

I can give you an invite - though I think registration is open at the moment.
DoA is still the largest resource for BJD care and questions/answers. I highly recommend getting in.
From 5/4/10: "The forum is now open for general registration, so the invite option is no longer needed."

That would be cool! I have noticed they seem to have a lot of info (tutorials and such), so I wouldn't mind getting in ;)
I submitted a registration last week, so maybe they just haven't gotten around to me yet. :) I like this place too though, so I am happy either way :p

Hehehe. Actually it was a software issue (or a whole raft of software issues - what a hosed upgrade that was!) that caused them to shut down registration for awhile. But it is getting just a little beyond ridiculous in some areas over yonder, so you may well be cursed with more of me over here.
Sorry about that :)

Mighta been a software issue but she said she filed a registration about a week before they closed reg.... never heard back from them.

I'm really new, just joined earlier today. I love this forum!!! You can breathe here and it's more of a carefree and warm environment. I wanted to join DoA but it's closed for registration (again). I have been wanting a BJD since I first saw one on dannychoo.com. Thanks for having me and if you want to get to know me, contact me!!
