Hitasura
08-31-2007, 08:52 PM
This may be a brand new forum, but we're hoping that well be seeing a lot of familiar faces out there and to meet plenty of new ones! New or old to the hobby or community, please let us know a little bit about yourselves in this thread so everyone can get to know each other a little better! ^_^

Some possible things to answer:

- What's your real name?
- What's your occupation?
- How long have you been collectiing BJDs?
- What dolls do you own?
- What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?
- Anything else you feel like telling us!

As for me, my real name is Leigh- you can find me as Hitasura on just about every other forum/LJ/etc out there though. I'm a 26 year-old Art major who got drug into by my friend Rhian about three years ago. I loved how customizable they were and soon couldn't resist the urge to turn the main characters from my webcomic (Schism) into dolls. I love sewing and creating outfits for them as well as modding and painting them (though I'm not quite as good as many out there!) XD

I hope that everyone enjoys the new forum! =D

Merry
09-01-2007, 03:03 AM
Hello!

I'm Merry...aka Sandi aka bunny13 on DoA (where I very rarely go) and bunnythe13th on LJ. I'm thirty....um...something... :sweat and I am an artist and craftsperson living with my husband, a grumpy Basenji and several dolls in Redmond, WA (aka Microsoftland).

Check out my sig for dolls owned and I've also filled out a bit in my profile section if you're really that curious about me. ;D

The site looks wonderful so far and I look forward to seeing it grow!

Em
09-01-2007, 03:07 PM
Hi All,

I'm Em (obviously!) I'm 25, shortly to be 26 and currently working for a Legal Publishing firm (oh the excitement!).

I stumbled across some pics of BJD online late in '03, fell madly in love with them! In the desperate search for any english websites I found Cass's Briah, harassed her through email until she invited me over to meet her boys and the rest is history!

I currently own 5 dolls (with 2 on their way)

Raiden - Volks BW F16
Cian - CP Woosoo
Danae - Volks Emma
Hinote - Volks Yo-sd Anne
Kageru - Bambicrony Slate Grey Elf Pepe

I also ordered a Sist & Lusis in the last Unoa order :)

My favourite aspects of the BJD hobby is the chance to bring my characters 'to life' and the AWESOME friends I've made through this hobby.

I'm pretty much a lurker in most communities but I'm going to try and make an effort to be more active here :)

harolink

Greetings~! :)

I'm your typical forum lurker just introducing herself to the new crowd. I'm also on DoA as Harolink and I'm looking forward to watching this forum grow~. My introduction into this hobby occurred fairly recently (February 2007 I think) after I had a chance to meet my friend's gorgeous Kurumi she had just received. After that...everything spiraled into pure enthusiasm for these exquisite dolls and now I currently own 5 dolls.

In the order I got them:
Hyder (SDC Arashi)
Pyce (DOT H Ducan)
Harley (Pipos Baha)
Alice (SDC Kaede)
Adeleine (SDC SWTD Kaede)

Their faces are definitely a welcome distraction when I'm exhausted or stressed after a full day's work (I'm an engineer). I really love admiring the quality and craftsmanship of these dolls and their unlimited customizability keeps my mind spinning with creative ideas I hope to make a reality some day in the future.

Hello! I am a Test account. You may see me post occasionally to test things. Please pay me no mind. (^_^;

Annika
09-02-2007, 05:29 PM
Hi!

My name is Annika (duh), but you might know me as mutedhitokiri from LJ. I found out about BJDs totally by accident in late 2004, through a My Little Pony forum. I thought they were just too beautiful for words, and since then, I have become irrevocably obsessed. I now own way too many of the little buggers, since they offer such a wonderful opportunity to see my characters elsewhere than in my head (I can't draw worth anything).

Seiko
09-03-2007, 06:23 AM
Hi, I'm Seiko (seiko on DoA, rawr). I'm 20 and currently a physics/pre-med major at university. My favorite thing to do is sleep e_e.

I've owned a BJD since 2005 (Hitasura's fault), but only have seriously been part of the hobby since later summer 2006. I own 6 dolls based on preexisting characters from a novel I'm working on.

I like taking pictures of the dolls, buying stuff for them, and I make doll jewelry (sort of) XD;

I look forward to getting to know a lot of people on the forum. ^^

Nikittin
09-03-2007, 06:40 AM
Hello all, my name is Nicky. I am nikittin on both DoA and LJ.

I've been a BJD enthusiast since late 2004. It's been a wonderful time and I've met a lot of cool people.

It's good to be here. I'm really happy to meet you, Resinality members!

Lakshata (Nanuri 07)

Very happy to be here and I look forward to seeing this community grow.

gothiclibrarian
09-07-2007, 01:40 PM
gothiclibrarian on DoA/LJ...Anika in real life

I'm 30 years old and live in Indianapolis, Indiana. I'm a librarian. I love Indian food. I like to garden (especially roses).

Was introduced to ABJD in 2002 when surfing the net for Blythe and Jenny photos. I happened upon Helene's site and fell in love with her Kyon-painted 4-Sisters now known as Clelie.

About 4 months later I had brought my first doll home.

I have had a lot of change in my doll family over the years but feel that after some degree of trial and error I've got the perfect group for me.

Alinor: Volks SD Masha
Beatrice: Volks Yo-Tenshi Kasumi
Félicité: NotDoll Nari-Pon Periwinkle
Georgianna: Volks FCS MSD F-16
Gillianne: School C SD-13
Henrietta: Volks Carol on SD-13 body
Honorine: NotDoll Nari-Pon Daisy
Ioan: Volks FCS SD-13 F-16 (Originally F-28 in April '03)
Maxine: LatiDoll Yellow Benny
Perdita: Volks Yo-SD Lin
Phillippa: Volks FCS SDG F-27
Roselynde: Volks SD Sasha
Theodora: Volks Yo-Tenshi Yuh
Winifred: Volks MSD Lilith

And an Alice Cherry Blossom by ElfDoll on the way.

I am very excited about some of the features on this new forum. The tags and Wiki are especially brilliant!

Hope to see this group grow :heart

Sakura
09-07-2007, 09:16 PM
I have a lot of SNs so I'll just suffice it to say that I'm ariaflight on LJ and Suzuka on DoA :doh I'm 28 and staying that way from now on, though I will celebrate a deathday or two :lol and have had dollies since Spring of 2005 but I'm also into cosplay and performing once in a while. :sing

I have eight dollies which I am quite shocked and scared at myself over and one more on the way ^^ I SERIOUSLY need to stop getting any more. Heehee!

My resin kids are:
Elisabeth (Jun T)
Kimihiro (Shiro T)
Sakura (Midori 2)
Syaoran (Hewitt 2)
Alexandria (Mai)
Victoria (Anais 2)
Suzie (Suzuna)
Shinichi (Shinn)

I pray for no more and turn a blind eye to all the uncoming dolls. :?

Nice to meet you all! :D

Lone Sheep
09-08-2007, 02:30 AM
Hello! My name is Emily, but I use "lone sheep" everywhere online. You can call me "Emily" or "Sheep"~ I don't care. Nice to meet you!

I'm 22 (for another month), still going to college in Virginia. I just quit my job of five years managing a pizza place and am currently just focusing on finishing my degree. (Majoring in graphic design, minor in business.)

I can't remember how long it's been since I started collecting BJDs. Less long than Hitasura, since she introduced me. ^^

It's weird... I guess I have six-ish dolls now. One is only a head though.

Luc (http://72.29.75.219/~cheapme/nobodyisreallybeautiful60.png) - Elysium Hugo
Valerie (http://72.29.75.219/~cheapme/nobodyisreallybeautiful42.png) - DOT Shall
Knox (http://72.29.75.219/~cheapme/intherain6.png) - Elfdoll K-SS
Wren (http://72.29.75.219/~cheapme/dolpa_2007/dolpa14.png) - MSD Enn
Kite (http://72.29.75.219/~cheapme/angel_5.png) - Reitenshi
Wade (http://72.29.75.219/~cheapme/wade.png) - Leeke Hero

I absolutely love photography, so that's my favorite thing about the hobby.

I like the new forum look. I'm always open to making new friends, so I hope I can get to know a few of you. :)

demitasse
09-08-2007, 04:44 AM
Well, let's see. I'm Boots, often called demitasse on forums. I'm a full-time studio art student, which is a fancy way of saying I draw feathers. Lots of feathers. In large scale. For three and four hours at a time. I first ran across BJDs in...uh. I don't remember. But I still have my copy of Hobby Japan with that very first Volks ad in it! They only had three girls!

I got my first doll in 2004, and have been hooked ever since. :D

Right now I've got:
Myx - Elfdoll Red
Ffamran - CP Moon

If I'm lucky, I'll be able to add a Volks Emma and a Pipos Curo to that soonish. :tantrum

...These emoticons are gonna be my undoing, I know it. :XD

Rhian
09-08-2007, 05:01 AM
Hello! My real-and-online name is Rhian, and I am responsible for dragging Leigh into the hobby... ;) I am a dilettante in her 20s who is trying to improve herself and cut down on her tea consumption.

I've been in the hobby since early 2003. (I ordered my first late that year, and he arrived in early 2004.) I love doll photography, but my real passion is sewing and knitting on a dolly scale.

I own:
- Sadame, a Volks old FCS F28 SD13 boy
- Zuzu, a Unoa 1.0 Lusis with the "large milk part" option :blush

Nice to meet you all!

Bel
09-08-2007, 06:49 AM
Hi, all!

I'm Bel (the_impassive on DoA and Lj) and excited to be here! I fell for BJDs in the summer of '05, brought my first (and second, sigh) home shortly after New Year's '06 - look, it's not my fault that by the time Tensiya shipped my first, I'd saved enough for my second! :p

I'm 34, have worked as an administrator at an art college for ten years, and write horror fiction from time to time. When not playing with dolls, I'm making doll jewelry (as Resin Ragdoll), trying to learn to play cello, goofing off with my German Shepherds, and seeking out good (and bad) movies from Hong Kong, Korea, and Japan.

I was an action figure person, not a doll person, but now I'm fast approaching "scary doll lady" status. (My list of dolls is in my profile!) I'd be just as happy with my gang if I knew no one else with BJDs, but a completely unexpected side effect of my falling for these dolls is that I've met some damn good people. Who knew?!

I now own both of my grail dolls, all of my dream dolls, and some surprise love-at-first-sight dolls. I'm lucky, lucky, lucky.

I'm looking forward to hanging out here! :flowers

Karhys
09-08-2007, 09:36 AM
Hi, I'm Cassiel, and I'm bad at introductions? XD

I'm Cassiel both in real life and pretty much anywhere on the net, except for on the occasions when 'Cassiel' is taken, at which point I go by 'kyashieru', which is my name in katakana'ed Japanese.

I'm a 5th year Uni student majoring in Japanese language, hoping to be a translator when I graduate. (Which, with luck, ought to be at the end of this semester! *prays to pass everything*)

I got into the BJD scene back in 2001, when Volks was the only company making dolls, and all of them were girls. I didn't get my first doll till September, 2002, but we ordered the second before the first came home. I think that seems to happen a lot in this hobby, heh!

My dolls are all in my profile and my sig (such a long list is too embarassing to spell out so plainly here!) but I largely love Volks boys. I don't have any girls yet and no real plans to. I just find boys way more appealing, for whatever reason. XD (As a writer, this reflects that all my story characters are male too. I just find myself distanced from and unable to connect with female characters. Go figure.)

I love the customization and creativity that is the initial foundation of this hobby; the idea that you can do whatever you like to your doll and make it truly and completely your own, unlike anyone else's. :D

I also love the friends that I have made through this hobby. It sometimes seems odd to me that I have made such good friends when our only feature in common is our love of dolls, but the fact remains that some of my closest and most trusted and beloved friends are the ones I found through dolls. So I am eminently grateful to my boys for giving me that, amongst all the other joys they give me. :kisses

And I hope to make many more friends here on Resinality, yay!

Loki
09-08-2007, 03:40 PM
Hey all! It's nice reading about some of you guys that I didn't know so much about before. ^_^

I'm Loki, I'm 23 and currently doing my Masters of Commerce (oooh) at Uni, while also attempting to study Japanese.

I can't recall exactly when I saw my first BJD picture, an online friend showed me her HappyDoll - I think he must have been an Arthur. She then later on linked me to the Volks website, and DP9 must have been going on, or just finished, because Shiro was plastered all over the front page, and I fell in love. XD I then went tripping about the net and found Cassiel's site, and it all went downhill from there.

I currently have 11 dolls... ^^; I'm hoping I'll stop now, because it's a far cry from the 'Just two' I had imagined I would have when I bought Kitori (my first doll). Kitori came home mid 2004.

I really enjoy this hobby and all the people I've met through it. I hope to make more here! ♥~

Mid
09-09-2007, 11:04 PM
As always, I want to play with the cool kids.

Hello, I'm Mid! I'm a 22 year old professional web monkey in the good ol' South Shore of Nova Scotia. Aaaaand if I continue this line, it'll sound like I'm looking for a date.

I've been collecting BJD since 2005. I currently have five, all from some random story idea of had a few years back (but, honestly, the story got lost somewhere and never found it's way home).

My crew:
Gabby D'Angelo (http://no-stories.net/photos/1106.jpg) [F-17]
Ix Navy (http://no-stories.net/photos/1110.jpg) [School A]
Bit (http://no-stories.net/photos/1109.jpg) [Suzuna]
Sol Holloway (http://no-stories.net/photos/1107.jpg) [F-16]
Aves Belmont (http://no-stories.net/photos/1108.jpg) [School C]

My favourite thing about this hobby is the creative process. I love to see what people imagine with these dolls.

The forum looks amazing!

AnimeDoll
09-09-2007, 11:26 PM
My name is Olivia and I've been in the hobby since October 2005. :lol

I really like the hobby and it's fun to shop for my 'kids!' The best part is finding items for my dolls when shopping and getting new clothes for them. The worst part of the hobby is not having enough money and not having enough time to play with them. :o

I live in American Canyon, CA where I attend pharmacy school. My hobbies include (besides ABJD), sushi, shopping, cosplay, anime, cel-collecting, Neopets, and surfing ebay.

My doll family from newest addition:

Sabiki Scye - SOOM Sabik Cyborg
Lai Fa - DIM Minimee
Sunako - Limwha Human
Cailin - DoT Ducan
Kaiya - PF Fei
Cloud - SD Shiro Tachibana
Sesshoumaru - F16
Hinoto - SD10 Megu

CatMoran
09-09-2007, 11:26 PM
Hello! I'm CatMoran just about everywhere.

Last fall a member of my flist lured me into bjds, I've been collecting them since January. As a software developer I possibly have too much money to invest in resin. So far I have:

Elfdoll Wu "Scout"
CP Shiwoo "Dennis"
BC mb elf Roko "Asha"
CP mnf elf Shiwoos "Andy" and "Nicky"
Domuya Flexi Perennial Fin

And I have a CP Miyu and Yo-SD Ayumu on the way.

The thing I like best is the imagination and creativity people put into their dolls.

thesaraghina
09-09-2007, 11:43 PM
Hello, I'm Jennifer. :)

I've been into bjds since 2005, and now have 14 at-home boys, with my Cristal on the way. I live in Florida and work for the government doing tricksy genetic manipulating things.

My favorite skintone is tan, and I love love love boy dolls. My favorite thing to do with them is take pictures and occasionally write stories about snippets of their lives. (But not in a roleplay sense.) I'm actually just starting a big writing project with one of my couples right now. And yes, all of my dolls are gay, as that's the way I like them. :p

Hatten
09-09-2007, 11:44 PM
Hey, I'm Jill, or Hatten, or Hat-chan on DOA (man that name was a mistake. XD)

I have been interested and collecting BJDs since 2005. My dolls will be in my sig as soon as I get around to it, heh. Just registered!

And uh, that's about it!

kellyhime
09-09-2007, 11:46 PM
Hi all!:D

I'm Kelly, but go by kellyhime in the doll world, because my husband and father say that I'm a princess, which works really well for getting pictures hung and jars opened, but at 42, I'm kind of an old princess. I have a BA in Textile Art and an MA in Philosophy and plan to go back to school next year for another MA in Japanese Art History, as I've been doing a lot of informal lecturing on the topic and figured I might as well have a degree in it. Over the years, I've done everything from retail sales to roofing, but for most of my adult life, my husband and I have been antique dealers and estate liquidators.

I first discovered BJD in early 2004 while doing searches for anime stuff on eBay and was instantly struck by their beauty -- and price!*_* However, the more I researched them, they more I wanted one and got my first BJD in August of 2004 -- and it was all downhill from there. I'll save you the entire list, but you're welcome to check out my doll profile (http://dollfieville.com/profile/profile.html).

Little did I know where this hobby would lead me. I'm usually very much of a dilettante, but after three years, I'm more and more immersed in this hobby everyday. Like many of you have mentioned, I've made some of the best friends I've had in my life through this hobby. I also design and make doll clothes for my company, LavenderKiss, and am the director of next year's NorCal BJD con, Dollectable. I've even traveled to Japan three times specifically for Volks events. It's kind of scary in a way, but I would say that the majority of what I do relates somehow to this hobby -- and I'm loving every minute of it!

I've been wishing for a smaller, more intimate forum that has a more flexible format than LJ, so I'm very excited about Resinality and I can't wait to participate!

:kisses

09-10-2007, 12:43 AM
Hi guys! I'm Meg. I'm 18 and in my first year of College with an undecided major right now (hopefully one day I want to end up with a job in costume design but I'm not quite sure how to achieve that just yet @_@; ).

I've been in the BJD "scene" since 2003, when I got my first doll, a CustomHouse Gene from Domuya back when they sold other brands. I keep pretty quiet on DOA because I'm lame and big forums intimidate me, so hopefully I'll be able to get off on the right foot and actually participate here rather than just observe in a nervous silence xD

Once upon a time I had a doll site, but I'm finicky and grow unhappy and tired of things way to easily, so after one to many renovations and name changes, I took it down entirely. I've got a brand new version in the works now, however, so that should start existing one of these days, and with any luck, for longer than it's ill-fated predecessors.

ANYHOW. My doll family right no consists of:

Michael, a Volks School A
Bastian, a Customhouse Gene/Jin
Griffin, a Bluefairy Jerome
Andre, a Tensiya Hound
And a YoSD Ayumu who's on the way home right now.

Pooki
09-10-2007, 12:46 AM
Hi, I'm Pooki (or Diep in real life). I'm 37, female, live in OH w/ 2 kids and a husband. I just found out about this forum from bunnythe13th on LJ.

I think I got into abjd in 2002, but I can't remember....old age, I guess... Jujube's Volks dolls were the first ones that I can remember, that really made an impression on me. I wish I had a lot of dolls, as there are so many that I greatly admire and greatly covet, but right now I only have one. Hopefully more will find their way here some time in the future.

I'm mostly into art and fashion, but these days my interest is primarily in sculpting.

It's nice to have this new forum! I mostly lurk, as I don't have a lot of time to go on forums these days....life keeps you busy!

kiyala
09-10-2007, 01:39 AM
Hi there! I'm Kii, and I go by Kiyala on LJ and DoA and anywhere else I can get the name ^^ I'm a student in the first year of university, studying psychology and I've been interested in dolls for about a year.
I only recently got my first less than a month ago - his name's Shinya and he's a CP El. I hope to get more, but my parents seem pretty opposed to the idea :mad (waah, such cute smilies :heart)
I'm really looking forward to being able to make things for Shinya - props, clothes, anything I can think of! (Just need to get past this kind-of-busy time in uni first...) and I want to learn how to do faceups and such too (but only after I get a head to practice on that isn't Shinya's... don't want to stuff it up :o)
So yes~ pleased to meet you all! And I hope to see you around on the boards too :)

*hops right into the crowd*

Heya~ I'm Celeste, and I go by Pia on DoA. 4th year music student in Melb Uni, graduating this sem! Whee! Hoping to go on to masters of teaching after this .. *grins*

I've been in this hobby for about 3 years, currently have 6 girls with me, even though if you came to visit, there's more than just 6 sitting around! I house many other dolls that belong to my friends too, so it's a real doll museum over here!

My doll collection consist.. 100% of girls at the moment. I just find myself much more attracted to girls, and bond better with them, even though my first doll was a boy!

Anyways - nice to meet you and you and you! Hope to see you guys around the board, which hopefully will be much cozier than big ol' DoA!

Hiya! I'm Pixie/Draicana.

I had written out a whole bunch about me and my dolls then my hand slipped on the keyboard and it disappeared.

><

I have four dolls and I'm paying for a fifth.

I'm not particularly interesting, but I'm working on it! =p

Look forward to getting to know you all!

Cynthia
09-10-2007, 02:20 AM
Erm, hi. Lotsa familiar names here--me, I'm Cynthia in FlintHills most places, sedens on LJ.

- What's your real name? Oh, *guess*. It isn't "sedens." :p
- What's your occupation? College professor.
- How long have you been collecting BJDs? Since August of 2004--I feel like a latecomer, still.
- What dolls do you own? Eep. Do I hafta tell? It's embarrassing!
- What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby? The dolls themselves: they're such a pleasure to handle, before and above and beyond anything else. But I don't think that's what the question is asking, so . . . I suppose it's a dead heat between (a) photography and (b) learning about the intersection of doll history with Japanese & Korean culture.
- Anything else you feel like telling us! *points to profile*

09-10-2007, 02:29 AM
Hi I'm Jayme Aka Crescent_P on DoA, I'm 21 years old and work at a small movie theatre as a Projectionist.
I've been into Bjd's Since I'd say around Nov of 2004, My first Bjd was bought in Fed 05 (DoC Too) and since then my group has only grown (See Sig)
What I like most about them is you can make them your own. ^^

Nice to meet everyone :D

09-10-2007, 02:29 AM
Heeeello. :D I'm Sha (my real name's Leesa, but Sha I still prefer Sha overall). I'm a 19 year-old college sophomore majoring in English literature. I've been collecting BJDs since 2004. I've gone through about a dozen since then, but right now, I have a Volks Sweet Dream Syo girl named Riley and a YoSD Ayumu I'll call Little Bird on the way. I've been in and out of the hobby for a while now, but I've discovered my favorite part right now is playing dress up with my girl. I love buying things for her and developing her sense of style. She's fab. :3

Looking forward to what this new forum will grow into. :D

talithax
09-10-2007, 02:52 AM
I'm talithax on DoA, Live Journalc and most likely many other places that I can't immediately bring to mind as well! I live in Adelaide, South Australia, and work for the Government on the clerical side of mental health.

After falling in love with a 1/6 Volks / Obitsu hybrid I decided that I had to investigate 'proper' BJDs in more detail and purchased my first MSD in March '06.

I now have far more dolls than I ever thought I would and can't imagine life without them.

In order of arrival, my crew consists ofc

Tarlei - Dollzone Xi
Kaspar - DoC Too
Latimer - Dollmore U-Jee
Lafayette - CP Moon (Redemption)
Kyran - CP El
Telinka - MNF Shiwoo
Tarkan - DoC Homme Kiril
Talachi - MNF El
Chloe - CP Yder
Aya - CP Shine
Faith - CP Shiwoo
Tachita - CP Dreaming Vamp Shiwoo on a Fantasy Doll body
Katarsha - CP Na-Nu-Ri '07

I'm also waiting on a Lishe and a Lu-Wen

Needless to say my big loves are both boys and CP dolls. (The Lishe is anc experiment!)

What I love most about BJDs is the different forms of creativity they inspire. Be it face-ups and mods to photostories or simply dressing them in their own style, they offer something for everyone.

- What's your real name? -- My real name is Annie. You might know me as mana_sama or littlesuki on Livejournal and, of course, as Majenta here and on DoA =)

- What's your occupation? -- Until recently I was working as an English teacher on a remote island in Japan. I returned to the states just a month ago and am currently job hunting.

- How long have you been collectiing BJDs? -- For over four years now (yes, I came from the era of no English websites!)

- What dolls do you own?

Haika - Volks Tohya
Suki - Happydoll Rian
Haruhiko - Shiwoo Elf
Jedusor - Sleeping Shiwoo Elf
Marcie - Volks Kun
Halo - SA Saint
Akiko - Volks Toppi
Shizune - Volks Shizu
Ithuriel - Senior Delf Bliss
Asadel - Narin60

- What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby? -- As an artist, it covers so many of my passions: painting, photography, story-telling, sewing, etc.

- Anything else you feel like telling us! -- Thanks to my recent year in Japan and my pains now to find a job and start the application process for graduate school, I've largely fallen off the face of the earth and seem to have lost many of my dolly friends online. I hope I can reconnected with people here!

09-10-2007, 03:13 AM
I'm Nicolle aka radiotrash on pretty much every forum I join. I first learned of BJDs when I was in my first year of college about four years ago through Aimee's website. (I followed her art for awhile and was curious of this new doll section that opened up.) Being without funds to get them (and since I was in Canada on a student visa I was unable to work legally) I pushed them out of my mind and went on my merry way.

Then Leigh/Hitasura posted on her LJ about this doll she bought and I fell in love all over again. I've been through a bit of molds before settling on my true love, Anisa, my white Kun.

The hobby really got me into photography, something that I had been interested in but hadn't actively pursued, and I'm interested in sewing as well although that is going much much more slowly. The downside is that for almost two years my drawing has dwindled to non-existent because of these resin lovlies. XD; I'm pretty much concentrating on getting back into that full force now.

Mara
09-10-2007, 03:40 AM
Hi! I'm Mara! I'm originally from historic and lovely Boston, Massachusetts and I'm 28 years old. I recently got married to a tall, handsome video game nerd. Together, our humble little condo in MA's South Shore is a fine geeky fifedom where we rule as alpha-nerds over all! I went to the oldest public school in America, then went to college at my safety school, and now I work as a graphic designer/creative director/professional computer geek at one the world's leading institutions of technology!! I've been in love with dolls since I was little. The courtship of BJDs was a little longer than some of my other love affairs with dolls, but oh, did I ever fall and fall hard!!!

Even though I've been in this hobby for a good three years, sometimes it feels longer than that because of all the changes that have happened both online and off. In a lot of ways, my resin pals have gone through these changes with me together... the death of a friend, moving into a new home, huge changes in professional responsibility, a major medical problem, and now going from "perpetually dating" to "married and settling down."

My other big hobby is anime fandom. I'm the Vice Chair of the Providence Anime Conference, an upcoming event for fans of Japanese animation aged 21+ and older (want to staff? Talk to me!). I'm also on the staff of Anime Boston (my job there is to feed the staff).

Being a young professional with a long commute, I don't really expect to ever be "part of the scene" or a person whose name rests immediately on the lips of people who enjoy BJDs - I really just want to be able to enjoy a gluttonous visual feast of the loveliest dolls from some of the best photographers and storytellers that the English-speaking fandom has to offer. I don't have much to give, really, than my attention and admiration. What I like about this forum so far is the intimacy, the neat way that content is organized and presented, and best of all, to see so many names that I've come to admire a lot. I'm happy to be here!

09-10-2007, 03:44 AM
HELLO! My name's Claudia, though you may know me as kuro on DoA. I currently own a Volks School A named Hisashi, and am waiting on a Yo-SD Ayumu who will perhaps be named Oliver. (Haven't decided yet.)

I saw my first BJD, tasu's MSD Tsubaki, Sora, when I met tasu at an anime con in fall 2005. Coincidentally, in the same weekend, a friend of mine (who's a huge fan of Hyde), showed me Caress of Venus, and that really nailed it in for me.

I originally got into the hobby with big dreams of starting a successful line of doll clothing, yet that never quite happened. I'm not disappointed though, because through dolls I was given the chance to expand my painting into faceups (which, to be frank, I don't suck at), as well as photography (which, in equal honesty, I do kind of suck at). But hey, Rome wasn't built in a day, right? Should you see my threads here or on DoA, let me tell you know that I'm always open to some good constructive criticism :)

I always love meeting new people in this hobby, and the best way is through my LJ (http://tookumade.livejournal.com). Pop by if you're interested!

mk13
09-10-2007, 04:40 AM
Hello :D I'm Yi, though I'm also mk13 on DOA and Moonteahouse on LJ.
I first saw BJDs on Deviantart while browsing randomly, I think it was a Shirou Tachibana actually. Through that I found the Volks website and fell in love, but it didn't occur to me that I could buy them till several years later:sweat. I got my first doll early last year, after much um.. and uh... over the price. But since then I've got 5 more dolls, not sure how that happened :XD.
Currently I'm in my second year of uni but that seems to eat up most of my time. My favourite part of the hobby is making clothes and being creative in general, which I tend to do more in the holidays :sweat
Nice to meet you all :D

night_child80
09-10-2007, 05:05 AM
Hi all, my name is Melissa and I hail from sunny Singapore (soon to be sunny Australia). I go by night_child80 on DoA.

I am currently working in agricultural chemicals, but with my impeding move, who knows where I'll end up eventually. Hopefully it'll be someplace nice and cozy. :D

I've owned a BJD since 2005 and haven't looked back since. Everything about them has been awesome: sewing, photographing them, doing their faceups... when I manage to get enough time from everything else that's been going on recently. :sweat

My crew is now 4 members-strong:
Caleb (http://www.melissaloh.com/image/profilecaleb.jpg) (Bluefairy Niky)
Colette (http://www.melissaloh.com/image/profilecolette.jpg) (Bluefairy May + blossom body)
Kiera Clement (http://www.melissaloh.com/image/profilekiera.jpg) (Volks MSD Margaret)
Laeticia Clement (http://www.melissaloh.com/image/profilelaeticia.jpg) (Volks Yo-SD Papi)

Guess that's about it from me. Hope to see you guys around in the forum and nice to meet everyone! :blush

I'm Talya, and I go by Talya or my nickname "tay" online.

I work for a state agency as an operations and policy analyst, right now performing project support work to launch a new system.

I've been collecting ABJDs since Dec 2004, when Cassiel helped me order and buy my first SD13 boys.

Together with my girlfriend, we own 18 dolls and two heads. :XD

I have: Lucien Shemyaza (Volks FCS SD13B F-16 BW), Stefan Shemyaza (Volks MSD Schulze), Minami Shouko (Volks SD Megu), Torrence Caradoc (Custom House Mars), Elrick Godard (Volks School A), Siobhan Caradoc (Gomidoll Igon SA), Aiden Caradoc (Volks MSD Hewitt), Rhys Annwyn (Volks Tony), Vaan (Volks Yo-SD Piccolo), Rhidyll Gruffudd (CP Elf Chiwoo BW), Leon Gabriel (Volks Captain Cecile)

My girlfriend Kuwamiko has: Minami Shouta (Volks SD13 Syo), Rowan Elders (DollShe SA Bermann), Elrick (Volks MSD Ken oldskin), Sorenson Caradoc (Custom House Jupiter), Liam Caradoc (Volks MSD Hewitt), Hedge (Elf Elly Banji boy), Dare Bramwell (CP Chiwoo NS), Chance Gruffudd (LatiDoll Ronnie hybrid on Volks Yo-SD SwD Piccolo body), Doran Caradoc (DollShe Bermann L'Etranger)

My favorite aspect of the hobby is taking pictures and sharing, and seeing other people share their dolls - enjoying new aspects of a long-beloved doll, or getting introduced to brand-new dolls. :D

astrosnik
09-10-2007, 05:09 AM
astrosnik aka astro or 'snik or some other derivative. A lot of my friends and E-lationships started online, so it's kinda weird to be called by my actual name.
Er, I used to work retail but I'm not eligible for a work permit yet. I dunno what I'm going to do when I grow up. 9__9 I'm in the middle of the mess of moving from the 'States to Canada.

I've been collecting BJD since 2000 or 2001? when I got my first doll through Minako's shopping service, and she took months to actually arrive. Now I own several dolls, but the majority (so far) are Volks- I just love the body sculpts. I have a range from tiny 5" Pippa to Mik at almost 60", as well as random other types of dolls.
I faceup all my dolls as well as sew and stuffs for them.

dirtywings
09-10-2007, 05:17 AM
Hello out there, I'm dirtywings, also sometimes known as Terése :D I've been around forever XD I don't really have a lot to say about myself, I like art and music and dolls, though I wasn't a doll person until I got into ABJDs.

I am 23 and have been into the hobby for almost 4 years now. My how time flies!

I'm currently living in Northwest Indiana and belong to the ChiTownDollz doll forum. I go to meetups in the IL area once in a while (that's where I grew up) and almost always bring all my dolls with me :3

My doll family:

MSD Mika (Lilac)
SD13 Link (Kyriel)
SD Kun with SD13 girl body (Ariel)

I do have a CP Sleeping Vampire Elf Chiwoo head (Orion) but since he is currently body-less, I am waiting to put him into my official list when he reacquires his body :sweat

And that's about it for now! :D

Jenova
09-10-2007, 05:28 AM
:yey I'm andi, or Jenova on DoA and jenovan pretty much everywhere else. I'm 26 and a programmer specializing in user interfaces, currently masquerading as a system administrator :|

I've been in the BJD hobby since right around New Years of 2005 ^^ I started out a few months earlier with Dollfies (1:6 dolls), but quickly came to the dark side :p My resinfolk are listed in my profile (http://www.abjds.com/forum/member.php?u=47) and in my sig; there are little profiles of each of them on my website (http://mistress.mistrust.com/art/still) (except Lila, she's too new ^^; ). With the exception of Lila, all of my dolls are characters from my writing and roleplaying (literally both, since any of the ones originally from roleplay have been written about extensively...). ABJDs give me a huge boost of inspiration for writing, and they also give me a way to show these characters to others, since I can't draw to save my life... ^^;

My favorite part of this hobby is hard to pin down, but in a vague sort of sense, it's the amount of inspiration I can get from the dolls... ideas for writing, crafting, sewing, etc. I'm never lacking for a list of projects I want to tackle, and I've had to learn things I probably never would have bothered with before... it's definitely been an enriching experience (though not in the financial sense, *cough*).

I'm so glad to see this site, both for its purpose and because it's been implemented with a high level of awesome. :D Glad to be here!

Hi, my name is Lyndsay, or Lethanon, or leth or lethy or whatever. I'm a choral/music teacher and composer in Darwin, Australia. Shinji1: NS CP Moon
Naota: NS DZ Yu
Haruaki: WS Soom Gena Hybrid
Sada: NS PW Morrimoth

Lethanon: Minimee Hybrid
Shynassa: CP WS Elf Chiwoo

Leilani: NS CP SS. Soo Hybrid
Sanne: WS DK Kiss
Seshat: WS DK Hara
Ashi: WS Lishe Hybrid
Afanasya: WS CP Miyu Hybrid

I love beautiful things and taking photos, so I suppose photography is my fav part of the hobby, though I do love modding heads and meeting people and just petting their cute as all hell little heads.

Hi, everyone!
I'm really happy to be here. :D Nikittin posted this group in her LJ, and I'm impressed by all the work that's put into it thus far.

My name is judith, and I work for a regional airline in Houston, Texas. I've been interested in ball-jointed dolls since the summer of 2004. I own the following dolls:

- Clementine: Custom House Miya
- Rosalind: Custom House SS Miya
- Maddy (Madeleine): Volks Toppi

I really like the close-knit communities in the doll world. I've made a bunch of great friends and have had the pleasure of seeing so much creativity. This board looks promising (yay for quality control!), and I especially like the addition of tags and three lettered searches.

Muunu
09-10-2007, 06:41 AM
Ehhem. I'm Muunu or Muu if you preferr, but my real name is Ann. I've been into BJDs for longer than I'd like to remember. I live on the tiny island of Jamaica. I once had a BW F-01 girl but she's off to a new home and a SD-13 boy is on his way here.

I'm here because I'd follow Rhian and Cassiel to the ends of the earth, really. :x :heart

Myriai
09-10-2007, 07:19 AM
What's your real name? My real name is Danette, but most people call me Dee (it's easier to remember ^_^) I am Fantomwyng on DoA and have been trying to get away from that SN for years, but, alas, it hasn't completely worked ^_^

What's your occupation? Currently I work in retail, but only because I have to pay bills and I haven't written enough to have that pay them ^_^ I've wanted to be an author since I was 12 years old, but I seem to have trouble seeing ideas through to a written completion (I know how they end, but no one else does ;) ). I am also a full time college student majoring in Creative Writing.

How long have you been collectiing BJDs? I ordered my first ABJD in February of 2005 and he arrived in April of that year, the original doll has moved on to a different home.

What dolls do you own? I currently own twelve

The ones that are home are:

Alex-Volks MSD Ken
Mia-CP Kid Delf Ani
Loki-Bambicrony Vin
Rin-Volks Kohya
Nikolai-CP Dreaming An (Option Head #1011)/Volks MSD long-legged body
Kaitlyn (Volks Myu)
Galaidriel (CP Nanuri '07)
Jesse (Volks SDC Miko)
Lucas (Volks Sunlight F-16)
Violet (Volks YoSD Chinatsu)
Raevyn (CP Delf Dark Human Soo)
Kellan (Volks SD13 School A)

What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby? I like taking pictures, creating photostories (though I haven't done much of that lately), and all the wonderful people I've met through this hobby that I probably never would have met otherwise ^_^ I also absolutely love and adore seeing the story other people come up with behind their dolls--I'm a sucker for a good story ^__^

I greatly enjoy anime and manga, playing DDR, and World of Warcraft.

Hmmm...not a whole lot left to say beyond that except I do tend to help organize a lot of the meet-ups here in Arizona (though I've been getting an amazing amount of help from others lately for which I am eternally grateful) and I've done an ABJD panel at a few of the small conventions held around here. Other than that, I'm supposed to be up at 5 AM and really should have gone to bed about an hour ago :D (but I've been having fun looking around the forum).

Another typical forum lurker. ^^;;

I'm Kimberly, but go by Kim most of the time.
I'm an interior design student and no, it's not the same as interior decoration. XD

I've owned BJDs for almost 4 years now.
my current family involves twin boys, a snow F16 and a sunlight F16 and girls, Jun-T, Hewitt girl, Unoa Sist, Lusis coming this november, and 4 girl yos, Suzuna, Kasumi, Lin and Tanpopo.

I like BJDs because they're just very beautiful, versatile and make great photography subjects.

Ayaka
09-10-2007, 08:54 AM
I'm Ayaka, I've gone by that name since I first started doing things online so there you have it. Uncreative, but simple. I'm 25 and live outside of Chicago, IL, where I'm trying to finally stop being a permanent college student. I'm one of those anime/manga/jrock nuts and a cosplayer. When I can pry myself away from my other obsessive hobbies, I write (comics mostly), draw (badly), and sew plushies. I got into the doll hobby largely via my friend Bailey (yes, that Bailey), summer of 2004. Nearly all my dolls are representations of characters from stories that I'm working on - the idea was that if they were sitting next to me urging me to write, I wouldn't slack off! The success of this is still debatable.

Somehow I've managed to wind up with 12 dolls since then (and one head). I'm not sure what happened but I think I need my head examined. My dolls, however, tell me I'm perfectly normal.
Gideon: Yukinojo
Akio: Shirou Tachibana
Naoya: School A boy
Stellan: Sakaki
Cassien: School A Sweet Dream (currently disembodied)
Drift: F-31
Sahara: SD13 School C girl
Malcolm: MSD F-09
Llyr: SDCute Kurt
Jynx: Rengemaru on girl body
Chance: Anne on boy body
Niamh: Chinatsu
Hotaru: Seitenshi

Good to be here ^^

gabriel
09-10-2007, 09:19 AM
gabriel on DoA, but it's not a name I'd have chosen for an ID
had it been known in advance that my first BJD would be named the very same.
(Terrible lack of foresight, this, but now for the sake of consistency...gabriel here as well.)

However, I tend to just go by J.

---

Tumbled to this hobby in late 2005,
and have had no luck escaping ever since.
(The resin count is currently at 12, and rising - unfortunately!)

For the most part, though, just one in a legion of lurkers
- which is just as well for everyone else.

Nevertheless...hey. ^^;

09-10-2007, 12:05 PM
Hi, I'm angie, or nofunangie just about everywhere on the web. I have a tattoo that says "no fun" so that's why i'm "no fun", more then actually being no fun. ;)

In my day to day life I'm a bartender at a rock club and sew corsets (commission and boutique consignment) in my spare time. I also march in a noise band parade and occasionally sell art.

I got into collecting BJD's in 2004 after I spotted a CH doll on an art/goth doll livejournal. I was hooked and purchased my first doll, Io, an AR Dana shortly thereafter. I have 16 dolls now, with many more planned.
My list is in my profile, but my favorite is Talullah, my oldskin Volks F-04.

My favorite aspect of the hobby is mostly the collecting. I love getting new dolls and adding to my collection. I also enjoy doing face-ups and sewing for my dolls, though I do not enjoy sewing for the minis as much.
I'm usually a lurker, but I will bust out now and again.

Guide
09-10-2007, 12:07 PM
Hi all!

My name is Stephen (or Steve), but online I go by various names. The one I use for all things BJD is Guide, or misguidance on LJ!

I've been collecting BJDs for nearly 2 years, I think, and I've just downgraded my collection massively from 8 to 3 and a head. XD My first doll was a Luts Delf El, Mikos, and now I also have my Minimee (on a domuya flexi body) who is also called Guide, my Banji boy Edward, and my SWD Lucas head, Gal. Gal will hopefully have a body soon.

I've owned a lot of various kinds of dolls since I joined this hobby, but now I;m really trying to limit myself, becuase I just don;t ahve the room for too many more. ^_- I love this hobby and all things associated with it, so I couldn't chose my favorite aspect of it.... I love meet-ups, though, becuase I;m normally not one for socialising. Its nice to gather with other like-minded people, and see all sorts of dolls I'd never own!

How nice it is to be here! My name is Kristen and I go by kittymaru practically everywhere. (It's the name of my car)

I'm a painting conservator for real and for fun and I'm 26 years old. I'm not sure how either of those things happened, though... ^_^

I've been actively collecting dolls for almost three years, but had known about them for quite some time before actually purchasing one. I've got a bunch of CP beauty white but I'm slowly acquiring dolls of different skin tone from different companies. Very, very slowly.

Anyway, it sure is nice to meet everyone!

09-10-2007, 02:49 PM
Hello everyone, nice to be here! As for intro-stuff:

- What's your real name?
Jenny, but even in real-life I prefer to be called Xi (which is not pronounced 'zee', but 'shr', which is about as phonetic as I can spell it out. My Mandarin pronunciation sucks, however)

- What's your occupation?
Nothing right now: I just finished university (5-year degree in Japanese with Chinese, which involved living in Tokyo for a year) and I've got a career with a management consultancy firm (corporate evil, very exciting!) starting up in May, which means I'll be moving to London... and from there, to all around the world on a semi-regular basis! Looking for temp work at the moment, however.

- How long have you been collectiing BJDs?
Since January '06, which is when the first resin git invaded my home.

- What dolls do you own?
Ilú (http://maltec-spider.livejournal.com/13970.html) (CP Shiwoo)
Li (http://maltec-spider.livejournal.com/35379.html) (modded CP Juri '05 boy)
Aulen (http://maltec-spider.livejournal.com/14461.html) (DOT Camine)
Dee (http://maltec-spider.livejournal.com/21693.html) (sunlight F-16)
Ke'yaki (http://maltec-spider.livejournal.com/36053.html) (CP Nanuri '07)
Ysiri (http://maltec-spider.livejournal.com/28861.html) (CP Elf El)
Ikikuna (http://maltec-spider.livejournal.com/43595.html) (Yo-Tenshi Kasumi)
...plus one Sch A head (Sharakti) and a Yo-SD Ayumu (Ellan) who's currently en-route.

- What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?
The creativity angle... and all the friends I've met through it, too.

- Anything else you feel like telling us!
Um, let's see. I speak Japanese semi-fluently and Chinese and German pretty poorly (which is sad since I'm half-German and grew up bilingual), I love horror films and collect non-English music, in particular cheesy French/Arabic pop. Good to meet everyone!

Hi everyone.

I'm Stephanie, or byouyuuken (Ken) internet-wise. My occupation is a dying biomedical engineering student!! XD I go to school in NYC and lives at home in NJ this year, so you can find me occasionally in both areas (meetup-wise).

I got into BJDs since last year, although I've known their existence longer than that. Right now I live happily with my Moon twins and Misty the sidekick (who tends to think she's more important than the bigger boys, but anyways). That's all...

Zee
09-10-2007, 07:11 PM
I'm so excited by this new forum!

Please just call me Zee, it's a nickname that's evolved in an odd way with my real name, which is Christi, being surprisingly common.

I worked at an anime company for about three years until I realized that I really should go back to school to complete my degree. I'm now back to my first love of selling books...but this could always change. I love the discount :sweat

I got my first BJD in 2003, but soon sold him when I just couldn't...I guess bond. Later Dollmore came out with their Asha and Alice became my first "real" doll.

Funny thing, I had seen Aimee's Alita on her LJ and suddenly remembered a photoshoot in a Newtype that had a doll I had fallen in love with but figured it was a one of a kind for that shoot. That's when I started to dig around online for pictures, information and joined the Yahoo groups for the dolls. Surfing the Japanese sites lead me to Blythes. (easier to afford :blush) So that little obsession kind of sucked up all my doll money for some time.

- What dolls do you own?
Dollmore Asha::Alice, Volks Mini SD Sakura::Miyuki, Volks Mimi & Nono (they have to share a body for now :|), Domadoll Kkotmu::Rose, Yo-SD Anne::Liili, Yo-SD Tinatsu::Choco, Bobobie Erin::Frog, LtLine Daisy:: no name yet!

My favorite part is making clothes for them, dressing them up and taking pictures. I love the creativity it's fostered. I also love looking at other's photos.

My 'anything else' is that I hope to emerge from my doll hermitage with this forum.

Lady Brick
09-10-2007, 07:27 PM
I'm Jody :) I post as Lady Brick on quite a few other forums, doll-related and other. I'm an aspiring screenwriter/working copywriter who lives in Los Angeles. I actually got into BJDs almost three years ago while I was doing research for a writing project. I've collected fashion dolls for years, though.

My collection is in flux at the moment, but currently not going anywhere are my Volks One-Off Toppi (Maggie), Yo-Tenshi Yuki (Shey), and YoSD Lin (Emily). Living near the Volks Store in L.A. has obviously corrupted me :oops

Hello everyone! My real name is Heather, and BTW, my user name has nothing to do with dolls and has been with me since 1999. I recently received my BA in Studio Art and now work as a graphic designer. I first discovered BJDs in '02 or '03, but I didn't purchase my first one until December 2005. I've been sucked in ever since! These are the dolls I own in order of arrival:

Akiko -- Volks MSD Magie
Madeline -- Elfdoll Angel Hana
Mikan -- Volks Yo-SD Papi
Rei -- Volks SD13 Cristal

I also have a lovely BW F-24 one-off head floating around, but I may try to sell him (again) in the future because boy dolls are just not for me.

I love to make clothes for my dolls! Most of their outfits are made by me, but I will occasionally purchase outfits that suit their personalities perfectly. I also love to photograph the girls, especially in beautiful outdoor settings.

I think that's all for now. I look forward to seeing this forum grow, and I hope I see some of you at the LA Dolpa in a few months!

carawen
09-10-2007, 08:02 PM
Hi! I go by either carawen or angelsecho pretty much everywhere. I'm a self-employed seamstress and I live a couple miles outside of Colonial Williamsburg.

I've been into dolls since December of 2005, when a friend showed me pictures of hers. And since then the addiction has only grown.

I have a veritable hoarde of dolls, though some of them share bodies at this point in time (28 and counting, including two that haven't shipped yet). They are all character based, though I don't do photostories often. I prefer to write stories instead.

I sew clothes for my own dolls, mainly period pieces, and plan to soon start sewing outfits to sell.

As my signature doesn't seem to want to show up, I'll just list everyone here:

Teddy: AR GitD
Tsukasa: DOD Lahoo
Reilan: CP NaNuRi '06
Blake and Bowen: CP Harang twins
Rhoslyn: BC Cookie
Callum: DS Hound
Emilia: DOD Shall
Ethan: Volks School A

Dane: YoSD SwD Piccolo
Demi: YoSD SwD Ann

Nicole: CP Juri '06 boy
Tynan: CP Chiwoo Elf/Elf Vampire
Nathaniel: CP Shiwoo Vampire
Leopold: CP Chiwoo mod (my current icon)
Cecilia: CP Miyu
Lynnelle: CP NaNuRi'07 girl
Toyah & Koyah: Unoa L-Bi twins
Reina: Unoa Lusis

Cameron & Liam: CP MNF Shiwoo Elf & Elf Vampire twins

Catrina
09-10-2007, 08:20 PM
Hi I'm Catrina.

I work for a media company I formed 20 years ago, which also represents some doll artists in Korea.

We have also just started a BJD Artist association, in order to begin organizing workshops and events for doll artists outside of Asia. It's my hope that someday, the Asian artists will be able to come over here and teach western artists about their philosophies and ideas about dolls. You can see the website for our first event at www.bjdartists.com

I have been collecting vintage dolls all my life, mainly 1920's art dolls. It was my art doll friends who introduced me to BJD's, about six years ago. I own dolls from Luts, Volks, U-Noa, and many of the Korean doll artists. Some of my favorite dolls in my BJD collection include a Chobits Chii from Volks, a Unoss Aika bought from my friend Therese Olsen (Twigling) and a white U-Noa Sist. The artists in Korea have also sent me many special dolls, some of which are their first ones they made. I'm a really bad collector because most of my BJD's have no clothing.

My greatest wish is to someday create my own BJD. I feel these dolls have a language all their own, and I enjoy how they are loved by people from so many cultures.

Kimber Rose
09-10-2007, 10:17 PM
I'm Kimber Rose just about everywhere, and Kimberley in real life. Kimber's a nickname I've had ever since I was little and Rose is my middle name (and favorite flower). I work at an independent car dealership in southern Utah as a secretary, title clerk, and I also do collections.

I've been interested in bjds for. . . probably four or five years now. I spent at least one year trying to convince myself that I didn't need one, and another year saving. Azure is my first, and he was bought with the help of Cassiel while she was in Japan. Since hers were the first dolls I saw, that really means a lot to me. ^_^

My current roster is Azure (Volks F-16), Angel and Azriel (CP Shiwoos, who are sharing a body), and Mika (Volks MSD Mika). Next on the list is a body for Azriel and a Volks Amakusa Shiro to become Ryuu. Mika keeps trying to convince me that she needs a little sister, however. I eventually want the three main characters from another story of mine too, but that seems to be a way off in the distance, as two of them are FCS.

Other interests would be reading (I am a book whore- I'm running out of shelves), writing, art, music and movies. I have too many favorite authors and movies to name, but my favorite bands are currently AFI and Blaqk Audio. I need some new J-rock recs though- I'm so out of the loop there. ^^;

What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby? I'm not really sure that I have a favorite. I'm starting to get further into the customising aspect and am enjoying that. It's also a way for me to share a hobby with my 15 year old daughter.

Hi everyone! I'm George, I'm a trainee veterinary nurse.

I got into BJDs late 2003, through the Blythe hobby. I didn't buy my first, a Volks MSD Ken until May 2004 though. Anyone else remember the Domuya forums?? I was so sad when they shut down.

My doll family is constantly changing, but the two who always stay are Peaquod, who is a Volks Maggie head on an old type Happydoll body saucepan-tanned by me, and Royston my Unoa B-el.

My favourite aspect of the doll hobby is the way you can make your doll into anything you like. I also really like the quality of BJD products, from dolls to shoes.

edit: Kazzii- today was gross too! Was the cute King Charles Spaniel.

callior
09-10-2007, 11:50 PM
Hi there, Eli from Norway here. A girl, despite the name :)

I'm studying molecular biology, working as a volunteer at the local rock bar where I'm stage crew and venue coordinator. I've been collecting BJDs since the last day of 2005, and I have to say that the love is growing, not fading. So much for "one doll"!

I'm feather at DoA, meh at DoD, eelpot on LiveJournal and callior at Dukkehuset (the Norwegian board). As you can see, I have a problem using the same nick name twice :sweat

My favorite part of the BJD hobby has to be photography, where I've gone from beeing a truley horrible photograper to becoming just a bad one, and the posability of the dolls themselves. I've always been facinated by jointed dolls, from my mums childhood toy to barbie joints, and the posability of BJDs never cease to amaze me.

I have two, soon to be three dolls. A DoC U, a MNF Shiwoo / DoC hybrid and an Unoa Sist on order. The guy who ordered them for me and Skumring said they would be here in the end of this month *corsses fingers*

- Anything else you feel like telling us!
Um... if you are ever in Norway, please drop by? :D

Ostara
09-10-2007, 11:54 PM
Hi everyone!

I'm Ostara! (oh-star-ah, not oss-tara ;) ) A lot of people just call me this, so that's fine. I loathe my real name because my mother attempted to be cute and match my initials and the amount of letters in my name to my dad's, which means I have a name that does not fit me at all. (Go mom? XD) My name will be Elizabeth as soon as I get the papers in order, so you can call me that too. :)

I'm a college student who sells computers on the side, which is perfect for me because I'm a geek and love technology. XD I've known about and been interested in BJDs for a little over three years, and owned them since 2005.

I currently have three dolls, though since I owned three before them they are technically my fourth, fifth, and sixth dolls. They are:

Isil; CP Harang
Latherian; CP El
Mikael; CP Nanuri 07

I plan to have at least five more, so I have doll forms for some of my favorite characters from my writing. I enjoy buying them detailed, high quality outfits, so I fully expect to be broke for quite some time. :)

I am SO glad I found this forum. I miss the community feel of DoA, and I've always thought an 18+ forum would be a good idea. (Even when I myself wasn't eighteen yet. XD) I look forward to meeting some new people here! :p

Hi folks! My name is Laura, and I have been in the BJD hobby since 2002. Almost the beginning. ^^ Silver619 here and everywhere. ;-)

I work from home doing tech support for a web hosting company. I am a mom to 3 year old twin girls and 2 teenage boys, 12 and 15.

I currently own 2 SD10 girls, a CP El, CP Lishe, MNF Lishe, Unoa Lusis, 2 DZ BBs, and an OrientDoll So Ui.

I hope this forum thrives- it's nice to have that small community feeling again. <3

soliloquies
09-11-2007, 12:21 AM
Hi, I'm Mandie but commonly known as soliloquies around the net. Not working at the moment (battling various stuff) but I've got a degree in social science and women's studies. Hoping to do something with it when I get back on my feet. :)

I've only just got my first doll, a Narae called Lilias (Lily) and she's fantastic. Am rapidly becoming addicted to ABJDs though!

I also love creating dioramas, reading, sci-fi, knitting and I'm teaching myself to sew.

Dope Hat
09-11-2007, 12:38 AM
Hi I'm Dope Hat otherwise known as Sarah. I'm dope_hat on DoA and Number_II on DoD :3
I've just started college after wasting 18 months of my life in a dry cleaners (no unfortuantely, I was not lost :<) I got my first BJD in November of last year after spending 5 and a half months hating ABJD's! XD
Currently I own: Deja Vuu (Soom BW Godo), Isidora Ryzhkova [Isi] (CP modded MiniFee Lishe), Caden (CP modded NaNuRi 2k7) and Warren Prime (Dream of Doll Tender Too)
When I do get a job, I'm going to save up to buy a CP Lishe to replace Isi's sister, Katya, that I sold earlier this year ^^;
I also really, REALLY want a Sunlight skin F-16 ;o; They so pretty <3

Kaighn
09-11-2007, 12:38 AM
Hi everyone!

My name is J, but I'm known just about everywhere else as Kaighn. I'm 24 and I live in Southern NJ. I work as a Library Assistant, in a building that desperately needs to be bigger.

I bought my first doll in January of '05 after a few months of lurking around and looking at other peoples dolls. It took a few more months after he arrived before I joined DoA.

My bookshelves are currently being taken over by:
Volks Isao I & II, Volks Kohya, Volks F-15, Volks SwD Syo, Volks WC Chris, Volks School A, Volks Kun, Volks Kohaku, Volks Manabu, Volks MSD F-03, Custom House LJ Mars, & Volks SwD Suzuna.

My favourite part of the hobby apart from the dolls themselves? The work people put in to them. I love seeing what people do with their dolls to make them their own.

Alex - SM Gena on a CH old girl body
The Baron by Volks
Vanya - Mecha Angel Sabik Cyborg

I like to crochet, knit, and sew. I love Sci-Fi, western, and odd independent films. I'm a art history nerd.

Ayumu
09-11-2007, 12:52 AM
Hi!

I'm Ayumu, pleased to meet you! I'm a student and I've had a BJD for about a year now. My only BJD is a Volks Midori in Preschool, named Kiku. One is enough for me :) My favorite part of the BJD fandom is looking at other people's dolls and doll clothes and accessories; the work people put into things is amazing and inspiring!

milkypink
09-11-2007, 01:02 AM
Hi! :D

I don't typically go by my real first name online so you can just refer to me by usernames or Miu :sweat

I'm working part-time as an administrative assistant but mainly I'm a homemaker (no kids yet, but in the future~)

My friend honeyedbiscuit introduced me to BJDs at college and it wasn't until after I spent some time holding one of her girls that I decided I wanted one for myself. Aryanna (Cerebus Project Soony) arrived to me early November '05. Currently she has no resin friends (but lots of little plastic cousins - a.k.a. Pullips, Blythes and Momokos) but I would love to get a Blue Fairy Xiao someday.
I love taking photos of my girls and most of my criteria for camera upgrades come from how it will improve my doll photos ;)

I have a wide variety of other hobbies and interests that rotate in popularity for me :XD Among them are video games (PSP, DS, PS2/3, Wii, PC), fashion (Japanese street fashion, collecting an obscene amount of purses), stuffed animals (Rilakkuma, Sanrio, etc), books (mostly fiction, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Haruki Murakami..) and music (too much to list!)
Hopefully I will enjoy this forum more than other bjd ones I've joined in the past :blush

inkstone
09-11-2007, 01:13 AM
Hi everyone!

I'm Vernieda, sometimes known as Vern, but I tend to sign up as inkstone pretty much everywhere -- except for LJ where mu username is magicnoire. I'm 28, live outside Washington DC, and work in a not-so-secret military lab as a research assistant.

I've known about BJDs for several years but bought my first doll in late 2005. At the moment, I'm happy with my two girls:

Eurydice (CP 2005 Juri)
Ariadne (Limhwa ForYou)

and don't plan on bringing any others home.

Otherwise, I love anime and manga, devour books, adore horror movies, practice kundalini yoga, and wage a constant battle in teaching myself how to cook. Looking forward to seeing this forum thrive! :D

(These emoticons are darling.)

Hi!
I'm Haibane, aka Uncanny, representing Sweden (bork bork bork!) :p

I first came across BJD in 2004 I think, and after an initial period of OMG HOW COULD ANYONE PAY THAT MUCH FOR A *DOLL* I've managed to gather three of them: SD Kun, SD Carol and Yo-SD Anne.
I love making up little scenarios with them and taking pics, and lately I've been all too fond of buying them new clothes. :oops

I'm OddEthics, I'm from the desert state of Az. ^^

A friend introduced me to ABJD's in... 2005? I got my first doll this year and my second doll this year. Due to having a job mainly. I love photography and taking pictures is a blast for me. ^^; I'd like to get better at it.

tylonika
09-11-2007, 02:26 AM
Heyoh!

The name's Dana B, known as alicatylon on DOA and tyloncorp on lj. I've been into the doll hobby since about June 2003, though I did not get my first doll till august 2004. I'm a 21 yr old geology student =). I have 3 dolls:

Antares -CustomHouse Unique Jun for DC6
Kori/Xerxes- DP12 Kohya
Alica- SD13 WS F23 FCS girl

I think my favorite aspect is the changeable eyes/wigs. I've always wanted to do this myself, but I've never had the guts, so getting to experiment with different looks with the dolls is wonderful! My other hobbies include gaming(TT, and video), reading, and photography.

Lizzard
09-11-2007, 02:57 AM
Lizzard here. That's my real-world nickname, and has been for over a decade. I'm grim, humorless, and I don't like kids on my lawn.

Just kidding.

Except for the lawn part.

Anyhow, I have one 60cm (Kitsune, a CP Xmas Elf El), one 40cm (Tanuki, a CP Bory), and one head (Kirin, a CP Dreaming Vampire Elf InsertDescriptorHere Chiwoo). I don't have any plans to expand beyond these characters, as I'm on a budget and have limited space. Plus, my dogs are convinced that my dolls are little people who can give them biscuits, and I hate confusing them every time a new one enters the home. They get cranky when the biscuits are not forthcoming.

I'm looking forward to seeing how this forum grows. I've always wanted to participate in a forum with a nice mix of "freedom of speech" and intelligent discussion.

I've been collecting BJD's since late 04 when I ordered a DOD Si..I recently sold him though to upgrade him into a DOD Sha. :D I guess I would say my favorite aspects of the hobby are the creative freedom that these dolls give me and the great community we all share. I just love almost everyone I've meet in the hobby!:heart The dolls I have currently living with me are a DOT Sha named Kiyoshi, Volks SD10 boy Named Bailey & a Soom Namu named Nomi.

- What's your real name?

Hiya! I'm Lauren, but I'm mostly known as SolarCat everywhere on the internet, including DoA and DoD. ^^

- What's your occupation?

Student! I'm a senior at Boston University.

- How long have you been collecting BJDs?

About a year now, though I was certainly interested before I got my first doll!

- What dolls do you own?

I own a Souldoll Lune, a Soom Kanoa, a CP Shiwoo vampire, two BlueFairy boys - a Niky and a Tommy, and I'm eagerly awaiting a Volks YoSD Ayumu. :D

- What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?

As far as the dolls themselves are concerned? I really enjoy the photography aspect. My skills aren't so great, but I've been getting better. Eventually I hope to save up for a DSLR camera and take some classes. ^^
As far as the overall hobby is concerned, I really love going to meetups and getting to know people! To all the great people here on the East Coast, in Michigan, and elsewhere that I've been able to meet and get to know - I love you guys! *kisses&hugs*

- Anything else you feel like telling us!

I like pancakes! (See user title!) Also, I tend to be silly and can kinda put my foot in my mouth sometimes, so thank you so much for putting up with me, everybody! :oops

09-11-2007, 05:03 AM
Hello! I'm Elsie, and I usually go by erushi on various online portals.

I'm a student, and will be moving to London soon (like, really soon) for my undergrad studies.

I received my first doll at the start of 2006, but I've been actively following this hobby since the start of 2005, and first new about them in 2003 (I blame Domuya and their booth at a local con).

Dolls I own:
- Volks F17 SD13 boy
- Volks Cecile
- Volks Yugiri

What brought me into the hobby was the allure of designing and sewing for them, and I think that still remains one of my favourite aspects of the hobby. Unfortunately, time's always scarce, so I seldom get to indulge in this. D: Meeting other owners and photography also rank quite high.

And, er, I'm glad to meet everyone! *waves*

Hello everyone. I usually go by 's.' online, and truthfully can't help but cringe secretly whenever someone calls me 'scube' irl. I live in Singapore and have just started my full-time job recently, having graduating from university in June.

I've known about BJDs since there were only Volks girls, but was never really interested until I chanced upon Lucas. I was totally convinced he had to be modelled after hyde. XD (Yes, long-time hyde diehard here ._.) I finally came to terms with the price and ordered my first FCS (Old F-28) from Domuya in August 2004. I enjoy the photography and fashion aspect of this hobby, ...whereas I am much steeped in immense love/hate when it comes to sewing for them.

I usually am a big-time lurker, but I hope to participate more actively (even if marginally) in this new forum. Always happy to meet new people! :D

Reshana
09-11-2007, 05:31 AM
Hiya!

- What's your real name?
I'm Elizabeth, and am known as Reshana on DoA also.

-What's your occupation?
I'm either at home playing computer games and taking care of household business or out on the road with my husband who is a trucker, so I guess you could call me a lazy ass. :p We get to see all the exits to the wonders of the US though since there's no truck parking at the Gettysburg battlefield or the Grand Canyon or most other fun places *grumble*.

How long have you been collectiing BJDs?
Its been about 9 months since I ordered my first doll, though I was looking for a few months prior to that.

- What dolls do you own?
DoT Homme Ducan - Beren
MNF Elf Shiwoo - Dublin

What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?
I like experimenting with many different sets of clothes, wigs and eyes until I finally hit upon a combination that I feel is perfect. I also enjoy taking pictures of them and want to get much better at it. I think the part I love best though is simply looking at my dolls every day, they me happy. :)

- Anything else you feel like telling us!
I'm a thirty year old nerd who likes video games, reading (scifi and fantasy mostly), roleplaying, anime and not acting my age. I also live in West Texas near Amarillo where, as far as I can tell, no other doll owners exist. My husband (who is also a huge nerd like myself) used to work on garage kits and other models professionally so we're hoping he'll be able to try doing face ups when he gets the time. He enjoys the boys as much as I do and plans to get some of his own eventually.

09-11-2007, 05:43 AM
- What's your real name?

My name is Laura, but on the internet I am better known as Roundtuit.

- What's your occupation?

I am jobless at the moment.

- How long have you been collecting BJDs?

I can hardly believe it but I have been in this hobby for two years now. (Pretty much exactly since September 12 will be the two year anniversary of the day my first doll and disembodied head arrived.)

- What dolls do you own?

I have an El, a El-ss head on a Domuya Flexi-girl body, a Minifee Chiwoo, and a disembodied Juri '05 head.

- What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?

I love being able to customize dolls and turn them into my characters. Having BJD's has also really gotten me into photography.

- Anything else you feel like telling us!

My other big hobby is anime and manga. I go to a couple anime conventions with my friends every year (Katsucon, Animazement, and Otakon this year) where we cosplay and usually compete in the masquerade. I also edit manga for a friends tiny scanlation group.

pas
09-11-2007, 06:07 AM
What's your real name?

My name's Danielle. I'm pas on all the doll forums I'm on.

What's your occupation?

I'm a project manager.

How long have you been collecting BJDs?

You know...I'm not sure. I bought a Unoss a number of years ago, but that didn't work out and I sold her off. Maybe a year or so after selling her I gave BJD ownership another try, and things are working out much better now. :)

What dolls do you own?

Tiresias - Dollshe Saint
Eris - Limhwa Human
Iris - Supia Roda
Tisiphone - Dream of Doll Tender Bee-A
Sarpedon - Senior Delf Bliss
Moz - D.I.M Minimee

What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?

Probably photography. I think I can take somewhat decent photos, but there's a lot of room for improvement, and I want to continue to learn.

Anything else you feel like telling us!

I was a classics major, hence the Ancient Greek theme with my dolls (except for Moz).

What's your real name?

Most people online call me by my middle name, Marie.

What's your occupation?

Student *sighs* Well I do work at a restaurant part time, but...yeah.

How long have you been collecting BJDs?

December of last year.

What dolls do you own?

I have a Soom Gena and a DoD Tender Too and Tender Bee-a.

What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?

The clothes. :D I get strange joy out of looking at doll clothes and dressing them up.

Anything else you feel like telling us!

I am so happy to be graduating in December! Not so happy about entering the "real world", however.

crazybatt
09-11-2007, 08:04 AM
- What's your real name?

My real name is Christina, but you can call me Chris or Battie. :p I pretty much use crazybatt for everything. I have memberships at too many different sites to try to be creative. XD

- What's your occupation?

Library Tech. :dead

- How long have you been collectiing BJDs?

Coming up on a year now, in November (since that's when I officially ordered my first doll). I've essentially known about them for about 2 years though. The first 6 months was all about 'who would spend that kind of money...' and the last six months before I bought my first was spent trying to convince myself I didn't really need one. First doll loves were Magical Michael and Elfdoll Wu.

- What dolls do you own?

Dollmore Model Doll Ipsae, a DD2/Obitsu Gretel Hybrid, and a Souldoll tiny Metel.

- What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?

Customization and the varieties to be found.

- Anything else you feel like telling us!

I suck at intro's and my favorite part of the hobby so far has turned out to be the NC dollie crowd. :heart

Right, so now I've come along and spammed this place up a bit, it's time to introduce myself. :) (Warning: Longwinded.)

I'm 21 years old and my friends call me hori. I work for a recruitment company, but I'm planning a loooong holiday next year, so I won't be stuck here much longer :D The plan is to skip the country and temporarily go back to my old job as an English teacher and general roadie/dogsbody.

I've been collecting BJDs since April last year, when I finally decided enough was enough and to get one of these dolls I'd been mooning over secretly for so long. I now have far too many and am running out of places to keep them. >_> Such is the curse!

Most of my crew are CP dolls, largely second hand; but I also have a Soom Gena, K-Doll Karon and Bambicrony Kumi, as well as an Obitsu Gretel head (impulse buys FTW!)

I love taking photos and collecting items for a certain 'look'. I'm not so keen on the price, but it's worth it. :) I post all my photos on my DeviantArt account and generally update it far too often to be safe XD I love going to meets and have met some fantastic people through the hobby, friends I'd not trade for the world!

I'm making a new forum resolution to actually comment on things in the gallery, because I love to look through everybody's pictures but really suck at leaving comments, so you'll probably hear a lot from me. :kisses

Akihoshi
09-11-2007, 11:21 AM
Hello everyone, I'm Aki.
I usually go by the username 'Akihoshi' or 'blackeyebags'. I'm a 21-year-old college student, majoring in Digital Animation. I've been collecting BJDs since 2004, though I've been interested in them around 2003.

What I love about this hobby is that I can bring my personal characters to 'life', so to speak. I'm very attached to my personal characters and it's great that they're now in a form that I can touch and not just within the paper.

I (currently) have 6 and a half dolls:
Madren - CH Ai Sram (old version)
Hyobei - DOC Si
Vacell - AR Present Jade v02
Tsutomu - Volks MSD FCS F-10
Kohen - CP KD Hodoo
Asami - Volks MSD Manabu (head only)
Shoren - LaTi Green Line Coco

Besides BJDs, I collect Pinky St., Momoko, Gashapon figurines, artworks and manga (though I admit, I only buy manga if their artstyle is to my liking).

Nice to meet everyone!
Ooo! Pretty emoticons. 8D *gets distracted*

caerbannog
09-11-2007, 11:28 AM
What's your real name?
My real name is Jennifer, but I usually go by Caerbannog online.

What's your occupation?
I work in a call center, making travel reservations.

How long have you been collecting BJDs?
A little over two years now, I think. I started out collecting Blythe dolls and I saw a few bjds that were gorgeous, but I was scared off by the price. Then I ran across the Volks issue that Haute Doll did and I felt that I had to get one of my own.

What dolls do you own?
in order of appearance:
Dorian, a Volks SD10 Megu
Alix, a DOD Tender Bee-a
Gish, a CP Luts Miyu
marianne, a Juri 2006 head
Ludivine, a Notdoll Angelica
Sebastienne, Volks Sweet Dream School A
... and an as of yet unnamed, unarrived Volks F27. Hopefully, she'll be here by the end of October.

What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?
Dressing them up in beautiful clothes, taking photos, and looking at other people's photos.

I'm Cyn, both in real life and on all of the doll forums. I'm cynbaby over on LJ.
In real life I do text chat support for one of the mega-banks.
I swore I would never get into this crazy hobby, then I saw a Saint. The dollshe army has been growing steadily since then.

arabel
09-11-2007, 01:09 PM
Well, I guess I should step out of lurkerdom as well, given I made a resolution to avoid lurking here.

I'm arabel pretty much everywhere, and I'm a designer and illustrator. Well, more the former than the latter, but I'm trying.

I stumbled across ABJD in someone's LJ user icon, and that was the end of it for me. I have two and a bit boys - Edward, a One-Off SD Lucas, Mortimer, an El, and Rosencrantz, a currently bodiless Sch A. I also have two little Volks Nasia kitty girls, Lucy and Nana.

Um, I'm looking forward to hanging out here - yay for less-crowded forums. :D

09-11-2007, 02:51 PM
Hi, I'm bunnydots from DoA.
I'm not really into real names, but you can call me m if you know me, or bunny or dots if you don't.
My occupation...eh let's just say I have an office type job and I work a LOT, next question.
I've been collecting BJDs for over a year and I own way too many of them already.
My favorite BJD companies are Dollshe and Luts, but oddly enough my two favorite dolls are both Volks boys. ?? go figure...
I also like artist made dolls, and I want to make dolls too.
My hobby time is severely limited right now because on top of work, I go to art school part time. I've already decided I'm taking next semester off to have more time for dolls, among other things.
My favorite aspect of the BJD hobby is seeing all the different sculpts and what people like to do with them. I prefer more realistic sculpts and different types of body shapes and sizes as being more like real people.

Edited to add, and like the person above it seems a little less crowded and laid-back over here. Thanks for starting a new playground for us :)

Brightstar1008
09-11-2007, 03:55 PM
Greetings, Everyone,

My name is Amanda and I am Brightstar1008 on Den of Angels and on Evil-bay. :p I am 24 years old and will be 25 in October! Yep, I'm a libra. At the moment, I am a receptionist, but I am hoping to be going back to school within the next year to get my degree in Chemistry.

I blame Azurielle, my best friend and current roommate, for getting me into this rather addictive hobby. I thought I could be content just playing with her ever growing resin collection, but the moment she created Adrien and Adriel, characters from the DnD game I was running, I knew I was doomed! Thus, Tristy, who was a main NPC from that game. And then, I discovered how much fun and how easy it was to create my favorite DnD characters, so now I am really doomed, or at least my pocket book is.

For my latest horde, check out my profile. I will be adding to it soon. The horder that is. Thank you all and I look forward to seeing all on the board.

- What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby? The customization. That I can change any of my dolls at anytime and have them look completely different. I love it!

- Anything else you feel like telling us! Most of my dolls are based off RPG characters. Specifically, D&D, and yes I know that makes me a geek of the first water. But I am not ashamed of any of my hobbies! :) i also write fantasy stories, although I've fallen out of it lately, due to the dolls taking up so much time. And reading...I love to read...I'm a speed reader, though, and finish books very quickly, so that habit is almost as expensive as the dolls for me!

My photography has also gotten loads better and I've gotten into making doll jewelry which isn't that in depth but hey, it's something I wasn't doing before. I've also made some very good friends through the hobby which is indeed very awesome.

- Anything else you feel like telling us!

09-11-2007, 07:36 PM
Hi, I'm Lily, currently suffering the cold in UK for the even more torturing study of Law *makes face* and have been immersed in this 'hobby' since Dec 2002 ^^ My first doll arrived in June 2003 and we have never looked back since.

I really enjoy having the kids around, shopping, sewing and etc, only thing I'm not so pleased about are the prices lol =P

I currently have Rhia (MSD F-05) with me in UK, while the rest are bunking with a friend back home (miss them so much !!!). They are Riku (SD Mika), Aichii (youSD Suzuna), EnEn (youSD Rengemaru) and also a currently undecided SD13 Tachibana Jun head that most probably will end up as a guy XD Hoping to one day bring SD13 Tachibana Shirou back !

erm what else ? ^^;

Tsuminaki
09-11-2007, 09:34 PM
Hi guys! I'm (obviously) Tsuminaki from DOA, LJ, etc, etc. and my RL name is Akiko. Currently I'm working at a program for gifted young students operating out of UC Berkeley as my day job, and I'm doing some customizer and seamstress work for extra funds (Vitta-Vera). I ordered my first BJD (Shyada) in late 2004.

I still can't believe I have more than one at times (and I can't believe there's another I'm thinking of getting if I can, even now), but at the moment I have:
Shyada - CP/Luts Dark Elf Soo (NS)
Vasnya - CP/Luts Dark Elf Soo Dreaming Vampire (NS)
Mayu - CP/Luts Tanning Lishe
and my new girls, not yet fully named and fleshed:
Musedoll Ciel, closed mouth (pink NS)
CP/Luts Elf Shushu special (NS)
Piposdoll Baha (white)

My sweetie also has a girl, but doesn't post here. I like to think of her as part of the bunch as well; she's Shiru, a CP/Luts Soony. (NS)

As is evident, CP/Luts provide my favorite sculpts. <3

I just really enjoy the creative scope and potential of these guys, as well as just sitting there and appreciating their beauty. They're a dreamy 3-d representation of the sort of aesthetics I've enjoyed drawing for quite a long time - not really realistic, not really anime-based - and to have them here, being extraordinarily cooperative camera models, able to wear awesome miniature clothes that I don't have the time to realize in human size and play with awesome miniature stuff, their faces a welcome and expressive canvas - well, it's cool all around.

I enjoy finding bright, creative and friendly people to converse with, and keeping up to date on new quirks and releases. I love weird ice creams and dabbling in all creative media, visual and auditory. My weak point is cute things, hit me there to go for the KO.

Hey there, I'm Sera... I work as a Nanny for a wee little baby, and most of my money goes to either the bills or dolls. XD I've been collecting dolls for... two and a half years now? When did it get to be so long? I really wonder. My dolls are as follows-

Owned:
SD10 Pureskin Nana - Chiharu
Dollmore MOMO boy - Kouta
Dollzone Yuu (WS) - Ryuutarou
Angell Studio Monica - Opal
Nobility Doll Ryoma/Royma - Shishido Ryou
Real Missing Link R-01 head - Michiru
Ninodoll Bada head - Honoka

On the way:
Unoa Sist - Kumiko
Domuya Fin - Ren (name pending)

...When did I get so many? I don't really remember.

I tend to have lots of sudden breaks from the doll hobby, where I get distracted or depressed, but I always seem to return. I love my dolls. And thankfully I've matured a LOT since I got into this hobby.

My name is Zoey, Idoru from DoA and lots of places elsewhere. I got into this hobby in 2005ish, when my friend got a CP Yder and let me hold him. I was pretty much hooked from that moment on. Right now, my only doll is a BW CP SS Harang Mod. And my favourite aspect of this hobby is, uhm, the dolls! XD

Hey guys, my name is Ange, and I live in Portland Oregon--we've got lots of BJD folks here, it's pretty cool. I'm a stay at home mom and a faceup artist, as well as owner of another BJD board (Zone of Zen). I've been into BJD for about 3 years now, always a changing cast of characters in my house...but right now I've got a cw Soom Gena, pw open eye Narae, Luts Cutie Delf Cory girl, Pipos Baha cat (for now, but she's for sale so who knows), Bobobie tiny Erin, and a couple of Angels that I can't pawn off on anyone, I got them in trade to restore/torment/mod. Ooooooooooooooooh, and I've got a pw narae 'heartbreak' on layaway. I think my favorite part, aside from how versatile the dolls are, is that you can anthropomorphize the dolls so much-they seem to take on personalities of their own just by having them around you. It's like putting a little of yourself (consciously or subconsciously) into something you care about--like the velveteen rabbit, who came alive because his owner loved him.

Ridgeway
09-12-2007, 05:51 AM
My name is Machaelle. On Resinality I'll be going by Ridgeway, I tend to use a different name whever I go, on DoA I go by idrisfynn. All the names I use are from my characters. Sorry if it gets confusing. :blush

My current crew:

Dollshe Valentino SA Bermann - Magnus
CP Delf El head/ SD13 LL body -Idris Fynn
Musedoll Re-Che head/iplehouse v.2 body- Max Ridgeway
SD School C head/SD13 LL body - Grey Harding
SD Tonyhead/SD16 body body -Lex Fisher
Custom House Limited Young Cyn - Etienne Harding
Hyper Maniac Omicron - Kohyama Kyuuya
Peak's Woods Segi head/SD10 body - Edel Ridgeway
Dollstown Mui - Nathan Bloodheart
K-Doll SP Kill_U head/DD2 L bust body - Maeve Adams
SD Williams head/Senior Delf body - Sean Adams
Senior Delf Dion head/ none yet - Bainbridge Dahl
SEV Yder head - Casimir (not a character, will not get a body)

I'm planning to buy Mecha Angel Corvi on the 15th and he'll be Aeschylus. I'm also planning a FCS F-33 girl for Lina and an F-20 boy for Lafayette.

No time for more info about me, I have a hot bathtub awaitin.

- What's your real name?

My name's Mellie, so I try to use it wherever I can. It's easier for me.

- What's your occupation?

I'm currently teaching Sophomore English Literature. It's pretty fun, even if it is a lot of work.

- How long have you been collectiing BJDs?

Since July 2006. I've been interested in them for a lot longer, but I didn't actually get one until then.

- What dolls do you own?

I also have a CP MNF Elf Shiwoo and a BC LSG Elf Kumi, but I'm still working on the characters for those. I have a CP Elf Chiwoo head I may have to get rid of, too.

- What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?

I like seeing what people do with their dolls. There's so much variety. I love the customization aspect of it.

- Anything else you feel like telling us!
I can't really think of anything else at the moment, sadly. I'm also half asleep right now, though. :heart

Gallye
09-12-2007, 06:27 AM
I'm Gallye--I'm Gallye pretty much everywhere in the doll world--and I'm Iplehouse crazy. (The proper term is apparently 'an Ipleho'.) I got my first doll, an Iplehouse Lion, in May of 2006; now I also have an Iplehouse Soo Ri and an Iplehouse Louis.

I also have a (currently disembodied) Luts Juri '06. It's a fluke. A fluke!

I'm fascinated by the weight, quality, and expressiveness of these dolls, as well as by the sheer coolness of itty-bitty doll clothes that are near-perfect miniatures of real clothing. I do try to take pictures of them, but I'm not very good at it yet. :sweat

Jyuni
09-12-2007, 06:52 AM
Hello, I am usually referred to as "Jyuni" but I answer to "Cassie" also. I'm 22 year old. I started getting intrested in BJDs since 2000. I own a Volks Isao Nanjo on a FCS SD13 L-2 Body, a Volks F-19 SD13 L-2 Body, a Volks Kuuta, and waiting on a SECRET DOLL.

I knit and sew for my dolls and work on face-ups for the local AZ doll members for fun. I'm thinking about opening up to take commissions.

My favorite music groups is Covenant, And One, Seabound, and VNV Nation. And I draw stuff. Also play World of Warcraft and other video games.

Celebare
09-12-2007, 06:57 AM
Hallo, I'm Celebare (or Meagan when I'm not on the interweb :B), and I've been in this hobby since January 2006. Duhur, I'm a young'n XD I was on DoA 'till a short while ago, and I've been posting on a few smaller BJD forums since then, as well as my el-jay...

I'm an English major, a senior in college, and... lawd only knows what I'll do with myself when I graduate! 8D

I've been cycling through dolls a bit lately to adjust my collection, but currently I'm in possession of three:
Rufus - Volks MSD F-09
Kyuubi - K-Doll Karon
Israfil - DIM R-Asiam LE20

Shortly, my former Chiwoo mod Henry will be re-shelled as a Volks SD10 Kun.

Hello! my real name is amanda, and i'm from alaska n_n my username on DoA is the same as on this forum... though i'm not all that active on DoA... i don't play well with drama queens hehe ;)

I'm unemployed, though my soon-to-be-husband (wedding on the 29th of this month!) works on the oil fields. We live together with our four wonderful pain in the butt cats ;)

I've been in this hobby for about a year and a half now. I currently have 11 dolls, which are listed in my profile n_n; You might recognize my baha... he's fairly well-known since he's pretty unique among the other bahas. I love doing face-ups and tattoos, and take commissions to help my time pass.

cherryghost
09-12-2007, 07:25 AM
Hi, I'm Amanda, and if you see someone by the name of cherryghost lurking on a doll forum, it's almost certainly me. I'm 23 and live in the northernmost part of NJ, where I work in retail (mostly developing film in a one hour lab these days) and procrastinate on working on the graphic novel I have planned. :sweat The Harry Potter fandom used to eat a large portion of my life, but now that the series is over (:cry) I've started getting into various manga series. I also love indie music, going to as many shows as I can, taking pictures of anything I see, doodling compulsively, and reading anything I can get my hands on.

I bought my first BJD in October of 2004. I'd come across them before, but it was around that time that I happened upon Hitasura and her at-the-time Bluefairy Jerome. Before that the pricetag seemed like an insurmountable barrier, but the more I looked into MSDs the more realistic acquiring a few became. I've experimented with different sizes during my time in the hobby, but I've found that mature minis are definitely the type for me.

Currently, my doll family consists of:
August - Customhouse LittleJr Mars
Blaine - Volks SDC Kurt
Edgar - Serendipity Valencia
Mouse - Souldoll Miryu
Persephone - Narae 43cm
Riley - Volks SDC Kaede
Sparrow - Unoa Sist
Tristesse - Fancyboots Liebchen

I have a rather convoluted story tying them all together in my head, which may or may not ever see the light of day on a webpage. Anyway, that's more than enough about me, haha.

- What's your real name?
Therese

- What's your occupation?
Self-employed & seld-taught doll artist

- How long have you been collecting BJDs?
Since 2004 or so...?

- What dolls do you own?
Shuen's Avix Dreamer on an Oldskin Volks SD torso with wigLimbs
Od Il head on Serendipity Mini 14 body
DIM Minimee Angelina Jolie (floater)
Dechanique's Kana Minimee who will soon get a twigLimbs body
Highly modified DT Estella head is still waiting for body and faceup
Elfdoll Ruru dreaming head
Pinkwhite Narin60 Mature head (trying to sell)
Tan Narin43 head (trying to sell)
...I expect this list will need to be updated often as we operate with a revolving door around here. I'd like to say most of the ones on this list are keepers though.

- What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?
I like the customiseability of the dolls, and the fact that anyone can have a go and try to make a stock default doll into something of their own mind.

I was born and raised in Norway, but have since migrated to Australia after studying there for 4 years. I have a bachelor(honours) in visual communication, but I have always been interested in various kinds of dolls. Previously just a collector of dolls, I have now started sculpting and casting my own work. Thus far I only have one finished creation to my name, a poseable (if somewhat awkward) alternative body called twigLimbs. In the near future I will be sculpting more dolls, I already have two new projects under way.

Apart from sculpting, I also sew, knit, crochet etc, and enjoy modding and doing faceups for my own dolls. I will be attending and giving a workshop in ball jointed doll making at the BJD Artists Workshop & Retreat next month.

St. James
09-12-2007, 07:34 AM
My real name is Jenn. I'm St. James most places, aaronstjames everywhere else. I adopted my most computer-fixated character's name when I first went online, never suspecting that I'd one day have a doll of him.

I'm a buyer for an old family-owned variety store in the Castro. I manage the furniture, lighting, hardware and tool departments among other things.
I'm also a partner in the BJD jewelry business orangebabydolly.

I have been collecting BJDs since May of 2005 when I dumped all my 1/6th scale dolls and ordered a Dreaming Shiwoo head. :p

I currently own:
Kaspar Rose ~ modified CP Dreaming Shiwoo
Aaron St. James ~ Gomi Sleepy Igon on DoT boy body
Anastasia Harding ~ modified CP Miyu on modified ShinyDoll Thaasa body
Pierce Przertrczchky ~ K-Doll Kayan on Dolkot boy body
Sewek ~ MSD Hewitt II
Audrey Ridgeway ~ Unique Ai Midnight Illusion Choa
Delphine Harding ~ Camine on modified Dollshe girl body
Daniel Harding ~ modified Yukinojo on Elysium boy body
Tyrian Harding ~ Psyche X on Dollshe boy body
Nina Montenegro ~ Supia Roda
Alexander Adams ~ MsDoll Drayton who hopes to get an SD17 body someday
[Amano Tenshi ~ modified MNF Sleeping Shiwoo head]
[Moreau Potamos ~ Vampire Elf Chiwoo head]

I have plans for a Limhwa Mano, an F-30, and an Elysia.

My favorite aspect of the BJD hobby is the endless variety. Customizing dolls is what got me into the hobby and it's what will keep me here. I have just begun to sculpt my first BJD head and who knows where that will lead me...

If I'm posting here it probably means I'm shirking my duties elsewhere, but the layout and refinements of this forum already appeal greatly to me and so many of the people I like are already here. :D

I prefer to play nice wherever I go and save the mood swings for my LJ, but I also feel like a hypocrite most of the time because I'm wasting resources playing with dolls instead of working harder to preserve our environment, so that can make me sound a little bitter on occasion. :mad My artistic side often conflicts with my political side.

Oh, and I'm Ridgeway's girlfriend of fifteen years. She got me into this! :kisses

My name is Aeryn-Sigourney - Aeryn for most. I'm also hiritai on DoA, and idiot_faced on LJ. I'm 18 and live in Canberra, Australia, with my boyfriend... who should have his own dolls considering the amount he plays with mine.

My current occupation is trying to find another occupation, but I'm hoping to study costume design and photography one day, and maybe something to do with history when I'm sick of that.

It's been nearly a year since my first doll arrived, after a fair bit of saving and researching. I adore the amount of customization that goes into these dolls, and I love taking photos of my boys.

My crew currently consists of:
Migidoll Ryu - Hayden
CP Moon mod - Vin
Kid Delf Cherry boy - Puffin
CP Nanuri 07 - Eiji

Hoping to get my first girl doll, a BC Gun, in November. Until then, I'm slowing down and building a wardrobe for my spoiled resins.

Hey, I'm Yileen. I'm 22 years old and a college student. I've been into BJDs for a few years, but just got a few dolls this year. My dolls are so new that I don't have names for them yet. I have an CH Faust:Mephistopheles Jin, Iplehouse Silvia, Baha, an AR Jade, and a few doll heads. Er, I'm a bit broke right now, so all of my poor dolls are naked. Except for the Jin and the Jade since they came with clothing. My favorite aspect of the hobby is definately trying out new faceups. I love drawing, but rarely draw, so this is a way to mess around with painting.

Hello, I'm Carol, I'm a 23 year old assistant language teacher currently living in Kyushu in Japan. I've been collecting dolls for just over a year now, though I was interested in them for about a year beforehand.

My dolls:

DIM Persia - Coal
DIM Belita - Jini
Volks Sunlight F-02 SD Boy - Yuu
Volks Sara SD Boy - Buttons
Volks Amakusa Shiro - Escher

My dolls are all based off of stories/art/comics I'm working on and at this point are all part of one singular universe. I really enjoy hearing other people's stories as well and the breadth of artistry in the hobby. It all feeds off itself in a good way.

Hi, I'm Chelsea, or Pristine Crimson on any ABJD forums that I join. :3 I'm in Japan at the moment doing a study-abroad, and I first got into BJD's two years ago. Since then, I have...

~Shinsei Azuma (Volks Isao Nanjou v. 1)
~Azel Hylia (SchA)

...and I just ordered an FCS MSD from the Volks' Tenshi no Sumika near where I live. :> Most of my monies go to college and books, but I really treasure both Shin and Azel. I guess I'd have to thank some unknown people whom I met at a convention whilst waiting for the Psycho le Cemu concert, because they let me hold their dolls, and I was enamoured at first sight. :3

Hi, everyone! It's Lilly, bluegirlwish. I wandered over here from Hitasura's LJ. I'm a veteran member circa 2005 (I feel ooold. D: ).

I started after stumbling on them while browsing DeviantArt (http://bluegirlwish.deviantart.com), and was enchanted by how beautiful and customisable they were! I also adored the balance of realism and stylization that I'd never seen in other dolls. They're the only dolls I own! I don't really like others...

I now own six... (how did that happen?) I love them all, and have never sold one, which is apparently quite an accomplishment! My dolls are in my signature and on my profile.

My favorite aspect about the hobby is how everyone can experience their dolls differently, but yet mingle together well. :) I love it!

I'm so so excited about this forum! :D

Osaka
09-12-2007, 03:08 PM
Hi! I'm Osaka almost everywhere, praxedes_osaka on LJ, and Miss Allister here and there. My real name is Christy, but most people have a tendency to forget it almost immediately. :D I'm 32, and a full-time mom to a 5-year-old boy, a 6-year-old Pug mix, and a 34-year-old husband. I am planning on going back to college and pursuing a Master's Degree in theatre history and literature, with the long-term goal of flunking college students.

I got my first whole ABJD in July of 2005, though I had been aware of them since 1998. I came much more from the doll end of the spectrum rather than the anime end, though I am very fond of anime and manga.

My merry crew consists of:
Rei (Dollshe Hound V1)
Kit (DIM Danbi)
Zhuge Liang (DIM "Real")
Gianni (CP Nanuri '06 boy)
Christian (Volks SD13 Link)
Valletta (CP SS Lishe mod on "girl" body)

And the floating heads: Erik (Volks SD13 Isao Nanjou V2), my unnamed DIM Rain head, and Kagami (or maybe Allister), my Volks School Head A.

My favorite aspect of the hobby is sewing and customizing the dolls. I am also very fond of collecting props for them. My goal is to one day have a series of rooms for them, for displaying and playing!

Other stuff I want to share? My son has his own ABJDs--an MSD Ken and a CP Shiwoo head that he plans to make into a girl and naming "Katie." I've never seen such a careful little person! (He's also planning his next doll! He says it will be a sleeping or dreaming Mini names "Ochee.")

I'm also very into video games, particularly the "Dynasty Warriors" series by Koei. I'm planning at least two more Dynasty Warriors-themed dolls.

Hi, I am King Arthur aka Carltoncig aka Chris most other places. I just thought I would drop in and make a little intro.

I am currently without doll. Sadly, I had to sell her a month or so ago to raise money to move. My doll was a CP Soo Special. Plans are in the works to get another one very shortly. I am really feeling cut off from my community not having a doll.

Anyway, thats all for now. :)

angelificatus
09-12-2007, 05:10 PM
Hello Everyone ~*

angelificatus on DoA/LJ and most everywhere else....
Mia is a nickname from some old friends...and also what my husband calls me for everyday. Marianne is my shortened legal name.

Enjoys gardening(although I neglected the roses this year),decorating, reading, dancing, languages, learned to play piano, but very rusty now, learning to play harp (finally) and aside from ABJDs,enjoys playing Sims2 occasionally.

Do not recall having a doll in my younger years....stuff animals yes...

Was introduced to ABJDs around 2002-3?
I remember seeing "Fancyboots"'s auction for one of her beautiful OOAK
outfit for BJDs that I felt I needed to have...and had to then get a doll to wear her outfit..
On my first delve into the ABJDs,and surmising what it means for me,
I first had "Surrender To Love" website..
but currently the dolls are under "Angelificatus" ,which if you are curious,
means "changed into an angel"....
(not me, but the dolls.(!) )

I have had numerous changes in my doll group thru out the years..
Iam not sure if I would ever have "the perfect group"....but Iam content to have the dolls that Iam most comfortable with for now...

Mostly, I savor seeing the exquisite art created by admired artists in person-
from dolls,faceups,clothing,wigs and jewelry.
I have also met some kindred spirits from this hobby
These for me, are the treasures.

ahh...I've said too much. :)

I am looking forward to "Feeling the Love" -a Community once again
from this wonderful new forum, Thank You to all the founders and members ~*~*~**~*~

What's your real name? Lucy, I tend to go by Uizu in most cases (DA etc) online though.

How long have you been collecting BJDs? Since Feb this year, I saw my first BJD probably about two years ago but only recently caught the bug.

What dolls do you own? At the minute: Yder SS, Shushu Elf twins, Dreaming Shiwoo and Nanuri'07. I'm currently waiting for a Tinybear/Bobobie Moona and I'm hoping to have a Tan saint by xmas.

What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby? It has to be photographing my dolls. I'd pretty much lost all inspiration where my photography was concerned but my dolls pulled me out of that rut and I'm more satisfied with the direction my photography is taking then I ever have been.

What's your real name? Rebecca. Not Becky, not Becca, not Reba. I'm also blackwingsblackheart on DoA.
What's your occupation? I have an MLS (masters of library science), but I retrained last year as a paralegal. Right now I'm a case clerk at one of the largest Mpls. law firms, and still hanging onto my one-day-a-week librarian job. I edit poetry for a small semiprofessional zine of speculative fiction, but that's for love (or egoboo, maybe) not for money.
How long have you been collectiing BJDs? I got my first doll from Luts two days ago, on Sept. 10. He's a Virgo!
What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby? Don't know yet, but I bought a digital camera and a sewing machine while I was waiting for my boy to come home, so I have excessively high hopes.
Anything else you feel like telling us! I got into this thanks to zirconmermaid, who turned me into a rabid anime fan a few years ago. I was never interested in dolls as a child; I had stuffed animals and action figures. At first I was "meh" about them, but she was so enthusiastic I started snooping around on the web looking for more information. Then I found DoA's FAQ, and from there Luts' website, and the moment I saw Moon's picture it was love. Other than that...I'm 39, a long-term science fiction geek and con-goer, resider in multiple subcultures, and room with 2 cats. Nice to meet you!

Hello ^_^

My actual name is Emily and I go by the name syrinxfox basically everywhere else.

In real life I'm a Veterinary Technician at an Emergency clinic and I also make wings for BJD's in my spare time for some extra cash on the side.

I got into this hobby in mid 2005 and received my first doll on October of that year, [my own doll was the first I had ever seen in person]. My dolls are based off characters from a story and friend and I have been working on for about 6 years, with the exception of a couple who came to me via collaboration with Nezumitoo. We RP a great deal.

I own:
Aki - CP El
Ikkairius - CP Elf Yder
Kallixstus - CP mod vamp Woosoo
Io - CP MNF Shiwoo
Sen - BC Gun
Sen [Teenaged version] - B&G Sky

I look forward to what this forum brings.

What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby? The multicultural aspect.

Anything else you feel like telling us!

Oof. I'm a 30-something married 9 years, no children and zero fluff tolerance. I downplay my personal opinions far too much, so I can surprise people with my bluntness at times, though I'm working on that. I'm good at offending others without realizing it, and though quick to snap with teeth bared, I'm also willing to smack myself for it.

Blame BazookaBaby for me being here~ ;)

Kafers
09-12-2007, 07:44 PM
Hi everyone! Lovely little forum you've got here :3 can't wait to see where this ride will take us e_e

Well, I'm Kafers, which is my usual name online, and the name a lot of people call me in real life as well. Its short for Katherine ;) I work in a wonderful little museum known as DIG, which is an interactive adventure all about archaeology! Basically I take people around and teach them stuff in a fake dig, let them sort through actual artefacts, and I also do various workshops with schools.
I first discovered BJD's on an old art forum I used to frequent, and I was hooked instantly. That was in the summer of 2005, also when I got my first doll, but for various reasons didn't get another until almost a year later. Now I can't seem to stop buying them @_@;
I pretty much have two favourite aspects in this hobby - how creative I can be with my dolls, and the wonderful people I've met through them :3

4 - What dolls do you own?

Currently, I own Blue Matilda, Supia Rosy, Lusis, and Unique: [Temptation_Hanael].

5 - What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?

Glad to be here!

Nezumitoo
09-12-2007, 08:23 PM
^_^ Herro, I'm Nezumi - user name pretty much every where is Nezumitoo.

I'm self employed at the moment [read that a being my household's resident couch potato] doing various jobs such as cosplay, scars and aesthetics as well as dollfie clothings. I've been in the hobby way longer than I've owned my crew [I lurked and wished alot years before I got Megumi in 2003] all my dolls are resin avatars for characters within my Angel Hunt story [with the exception of a few that are co-creations between me and Syrinxfox that relate to both our universes]

~ my crew are as follows ~

Megumi ~ Volks new makeup Megu
Jun ~ CP WS Chiwoo
Jenova ~ Volks FCS BW oldF29
Fuan ~ CP WS El
Fanuel ~ CP WS El
Hesue ~ CP MNF WS Shiwoo
Shura ~ SP DESboy mod
Saiyuri ~ CP NS Miyu

and a co-owned [between Syrinxfox and myself] BC Gun named Sen.

I has a few more in the works [Samara ~ MuseDoll F01 Ciel, and an unnamed ~ CP WS Lu-Wen [unnamed being a co-creation between me and Evphaedrielle =3]

As for what I likes about the hobby, mostly I love the customizing aspects of it, and that I can pretty much combine every creative endevour I have and shove it into one giant pretty resin shell. :)

djinn
09-12-2007, 09:16 PM
...And as usual, we enter three days late. :sweat Salutations! I'm Djinn, one half of the enterprise known as tangled web (http://tangled.silentragedy.net) that has largely fallen into obscurity. Mae, who's probably in the post right below mine, is the other half, and we're sisters four-and-a-half years apart, from Singapore.

What's your real name?
Jean. *surprise surprise* But I've been Djinn for the entire duration of my online life because some things sound like a better idea at 13.

What's your occupation?
I just got my B.A. in English Literature in July, and obviously I loved my college so much I couldn't tear myself away and am currently doing my M.A. in the same. :o

How long have you been collecting BJDs?
Our interest was probably piqued around 2000/01 through unhealthy amounts of Japanese web-surfing, but we really only brought our first two home in the winter of 2003.

What dolls do you own?
The current crew list, which I share with Mae, consists of...
Kinjyou Seishurou [Old SD13 NS F28]
Suiya Tsukisou [Old SD13 BW F28]
Ruka [Sweet Dreams Lucas]
Sanada Mikado [MSD NS F08]
Yanagi Mikoto [MSD BW F03]
Lin Si Ye [Touya v.2]
Chaitanya [Sunlight F09 Boy]
Tea [You-Tenshi Kasumi]
Rennes Yanagi [SD Tsukasa Girl]
Petr [SD16Girl Amelia Boy-mod]
...So technically we only own 5 each, but we can never figure out which 5 are whose...

What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?
Threshing out and translating the nebulous visions in the creative ether into actual 3-dimensional representations of which we then preserve 2-dimensional evidence.

Anything else you feel like telling us!
Everything I do in BJD-dom, I do it with Mae - I take care of character development, writing, and faceups; she does the sewing, photography, and heavy lifting.

Pleasure to meet you! :) [I say, these riceballs are adorable...]

Maxx
09-12-2007, 09:17 PM
Duplicate the information Djinn said about us being a unit, and it'll make sense. :nod

What's your real name?
May - but you can call me...uh...Mae. So I was 7 and naive.

What's your occupation?
Student, and will be for some time to come. I'm currently 18 [hurrah, I passed the cut-off point for the forum :dance].

How long have you been collecting BJDs?
Since end 2003.

What dolls do you own?
::deep breath::
Kinjyou Seishurou [Old SD13 NS F28]
Suiya Tsukisou [Old SD13 BW F28]
Ruka [Sweet Dreams Lucas]
Sanada Mikado [MSD NS F08]
Yanagi Mikoto [MSD BW F03]
Lin Si Ye [Touya v.2]
Chaitanya [SD SL F09]
Tea [You-Tenshi Kasumi]
Rennes Yanagi [SD Tsukasa Girl]
Petr [Amelia SD16 Boy-mod]

That makes 10, but since I share with Djinn, I technically own 5. :XD

What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?
Other than the dolls themselves, is seeing photostories or clothes turn out well. The process of sewing and taking photos don't really fill me with joy, per se.

I do like seeing the dolls forming the characters we had in mind, but doing that is Djinn's job. :D

Anything else you feel like telling us!
It's lovely to see all the people we're so familiar with here and I look forward to getting to know those not in that category. :sweat

Bandwidth Broad
09-12-2007, 09:28 PM
1. What's your real name?
Julie. I go by Julie M on DOA and most places, and Doctor J occasionally. Bandwidth Broad is a handle I used while doing my years of internet research. I thought I'd resurrect it for Resinality. I'm definitely one of the older (if not the oldest) new members here, at 48 (I'm a Virgo, and it was recently). I keep asking myself, "Now how the heck did this <48> happen?"

2. What's your occupation?
I am a university professor.

3. How long have you been collecting BJDs?
I discovered abjds in early 2003 and brought my first one home in August or September of the same year. Cassiel's website has been a constant stop whenever I've wanted eye-candy, along with the journals and public websites of many others whose names I recognize on here thus far.

4. What dolls do you own?
Errrrr, I think Volks owns my net annual salary. I have between 30 and 40-some resin kids, depending on whether or not we count the ones I've gifted to my two step-daughters, my daughter, and my youngest step-son. The ones I've kept for myself are listed in my profile. I think I listed them all, she says, nervously.

5. What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?
Admiring what other people have done with theirs and playing with and designing clothing and dressing my "kidz." After having done significant work on 36 weddings and myriad historical costuming jobs, I have to say that I like my current models much more than I ever liked working with brides....

6. Anything else you feel like telling us!

Check out my profile. :)

The resinality membes look very interesting. I am looking forward to reading about and seeing what everybody is up to on a regular basis.

evphaedrielle
09-12-2007, 11:53 PM
Hey ^__^

I'm Sarah--known most everywhere as Evphaedrielle and in a few places as the Rabbit or the Bunny Writer.

I'm a former teacher who now works in the financial department of a large 501(c)3 organization that works with people who have mental disabilities.

I've been into bjds for a shorter amount of time than a lot of people--my first doll came to live with me in July of 2006. Both of my dolls are from the Streifen story that Syrinxfox and I have written together for a number of years. Now they're just more than paper and pretty words. ^^ Generally I am the quieter RP presence with both S'Fox and Nezu.

Currently residing with me:

Sashi -- Elfdoll Wu
Zephyr -- CP Chiwoo

Certainly my favorite thing about the hobby is the ability to really customize the dolls. The same mold can look completely different and I love that that can create thousands upon thousands of options. No matter what kind of character is imagined, there is generally a way to make it happen in resin form.

My name is Emily, although many online folks know me as "Greenie." I'm greeniebone on nearly every forum I frequent, including DOA and WI BJD.

I'm currently a part-time Advertising Salesperson, part-time Susie Homemaker. I'm 29 years old, but I still haven't quite figured out what I want to be when I grow up. :sweat I have a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology.

I have been collecting BJDs for just under a year now, but I already have nine, and counting. :sweat :sweat I got interested in BJDs through Blythe collecting, and was fortunate enough to meet up with a GREAT group of local BJD fans. Getting to see a wide variety of dolls in person has done absolutely nothing to improve the status of my pocketbook.

The dolls I own currently are two Dollshe, four Bambicrony, two DOC, one Wishel and a secret floating head currently in the works. :p I have no particular taste when it comes to companies, sizes, etc.--I like what I like!

My favorite aspect of the BJD hobby is the amazing friends I have made, both in real life and online! It's corny, but true! It's hard to imagine that just a year ago, I didn't have any RL doll friends... :cry but now I have many! :lol

Hmm, as for other miscellaneous data, I am also an avid doggy mom, My Little Pony collector, manga devourer and Red Bull addict. I am also crazy in love with anything dealing with Autumn, so this time of year is my paradise!! :heart

What's your real name?
My name is Erin, but most people call me Kitty.

What's your occupation?
I'm in-between jobs but I'm a web programmer/designer.

How long have you been collectiing BJDs?
I got started into BJDs Nov 2006 and got my first, a DoT E-an in May/June-ish.

What dolls do you own?
Senior Delf Abadon - Abel
Dream of Doll E-An - Magiere
and my mom owns Elfdoll June Special
Elfdoll Sooah Haute doll Edition

What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?
My favorite aspect is the people. So many wonderful and chatty people interested in these dolls and it brings them all together! Also I love their customizability, no two dolls are alike!

09-13-2007, 01:05 AM
My real name is Maggie, but I'm Taco on DoA and Madartist78 on LJ. I'm 29 and have a job making signs and helping out the engineering dept at a manufacturing company (though I'm looking for a new job so I can relocate).

I found bjds by accident while browsing through Y! Gallery. Someone had posted a pic of their bjd modeling some clothes his owner had made. He was so beautiful, I had to find out more and a little over 2 years later, here I am. I love making my story and comic characters into 3D forms, and enjoy doing faceups. I've also gotten more interested in photography, though I don't have easy access to a digital camera right now. I currently have 11 dolls and a head and am waiting on one (he's being a slow poke, apparently).

Hello.

I'm leokitsune on DoA, DoD, LJ, and just about everywhere else I go. I share living space with my sister, my cat, and three and a half BJDs: Chulyen, a DS ver. 1 Hound; Mandie, a RML/DD2 hybrid; Qwill, a '06 Nanuri; and a poor Gomidoll Igon head that is still bodiless and nameless.

I'll probably lurk a lot, but I'm happy to see more new forums sprouting up and hope that this one can find its place and settle in well.:nod (The smilies here are very cute!)

Mela
09-13-2007, 01:40 AM
Umm...hi! <3 Hmm...

My real name is LeAnne, but I go by Mela almost everywhere online if I can. I also answer to Mela IRL, so...It's as much a nickname as an online pseudonym. I am a student at Kansas State University (majoring in Poli Sci with minors in Japanese and East Asian Studies). I'm also a mom. In my spare time, I work at a comic book and gaming store. <.<; I'm a multi-faceted nerd.

I have been collecting BJDs for almost two years. Actually, a friend of mine introduced me to the hobby just over two years ago. I have...more dolls than I should. <3 They are:

Sean (CP Soo Special)
Haven (2005 Juri Boy)
Trevelyan (DIM R-Asiam/FD hybrid)
Fallon (CP Chiwoo Elf/SD13 Girl hybrid)
Anna Marie (Unoss)
Logan (DZ Yuu Head)
Emerson (F-05 Sleeping Mod)
Corellon (Reminisce Ryung Mod/Iplehouse hybrid)
Loki (OD So Dong Vampire)
Adan (CP MNF Shiwoo Elf)
Madden (Lati Censya)

And an unnamed KD Kian head is on the way.

I honestly think my favorite aspect of this hobby is being able to sew for my dolls. I LOVE sewing, and it's nice to see my clothes on other's dolls. ^_^ I also really like the owners and their willingness to help others figure things out.

- What's your occupation?
Currently, I'm a student. Final year in animation and interactive media.

- How long have you been collecting BJDs?
'Bout a year.

- What dolls do you own?
Domuya D1-60 Fay,
DoD DoT Shall,
Unoa Light Flourite,

Volks YoSD Shinn.

- What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?
Photography. And making little bitty things for them. And planning stop-motion movies! I have had plans knocking around in my head since I got my first girl, but no time to implement anything big yet.

Hi everyone!
My name is Molly, and I go by Anielle on all the doll boards. I work in a gift boutique, but hopefully that will change soon:)

I got my first doll, a cp ani girl last October, and since then have acquired a dolkot kiss, and 3 festivous wishels. As well as a Unoa Lusis, on her way with the preorder. I collect all sorts of other dolls, including Blythe and Momoko's.

I love the friends I've made in this hobby, we have such a fantastic Wisconsin group. I am also a doll clothes junky, and like to collect small cheesy plasitic things for my Wishels house (currently the My Little Pony Show Stable:p)

I also write about them on my own, and sew for them... I do it all ^^;

- What's your real name? Jared. No cool nicknames or anything. :)
- What's your occupation? Right this second, I'm a substitute teacher. Hope to be dropping the "substitute" part of that soon.
- How long have you been collectiing BJDs? Around a year, I think? Since June '06.

I like some of the customizing aspects of the hobby (faceups and eventually sculpting), but I get too hung up on making a mistake.
- Anything else you feel like telling us! Just remember-- the light at the end of the tunnel... may be you. Good night everybody!!! ;)

09-13-2007, 06:44 AM
My name's saishuu (saishuuressha on LJ, pinkspider on DoA), I currently work in Quality Assurance at my company. I've only been into BJDs for the past year or so (2 years coming up fast O: ), but I've already managed a decent collection...

My first doll was a CP El, who is currently being sold, after that I ended up with a lati green coco who was also sold. The came my Yder (Lev) who was originally WS, but I've since gotten NS instead, MSD Hewitt (Ianto), Sleeping Vampire Elf Yder (Eran), SDC Miko (Jesse), BC MB Elf Kumi (Koral), Sleeping Harang head (Liz) and YoSD Shinn (Tobias). I love collecting them because even if my story changes all the time, they are easily able to be adapted into the new environment... and great to have around to play with when life is stressful.

nanlady
09-13-2007, 06:49 AM
Hallo~ I am Nicole, Nanlady of DoA. I am not particularly exciting. I have a few dolls whom I adore and care for, and I consider myself to be a passingly decent amateur photographer and I take effort to get my dolls good faceups, clothes, etc. My favorite doll of my own is October James, my favorite doll of someone else's is ravendoll's Alba, and my favorite mold is Sch C ( just got it, and holy cow the potentials! )

So yes. I will most likely be inactive but lurk a lot; I look forwards to a community like this. :3 I see lots of familiar, sweet faces. There's been lots of attempts to 'replace' DoA with a more realistic, open environment, and nearly all have failed or deviated from their main cause, but I really, really think this one will make it.

- What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?
Making stuff and taking pictures!

hakai
09-13-2007, 07:06 AM
I may as well do an intro post, since I won't be able to post pics of my dolls for awhile... ^^;

I'm Hakai both here and just about anywhere else. (or as 'hakai-kun' ^^) I live in Hawaii and have been into BJDs since 2005 and currently own 3 dolls. (one's incoming. Upon arrival, I'll be sure to spam the gallery with pics of my current crew :3)

Tabris/Tab (MSD Rock)
Yuu/Ecchan (YouTenshi Yuki)
Hikaru/Hikka (Yo-SD Puff)
(and a Liz incoming)

I love the custmizability of BJDs. It's a good creative outlet when artist's block hits :p
Looking forward to the future of this forum~

Angma Suzy
09-13-2007, 08:06 AM
Hi. I'm Suzy. I have the same handle on DOA. 'Angma' means 'devil' in Korean, a nickname I got because I lured everyone near me into this evil, evil, expensive hobby. :oops

I live in a city south of Seoul, where it's very flat unlike the rest of Korea (which is quite mountainous) and where a fierce wind blows constantly. I have dubbed this place the 'Wuthering Flatlands'. (I'm a Bronte geek.)

My background is in fashion marketing/consulting/design but currently I'm trying my hand at the starving artist/designer thing while doing translation jobs on the side. (I'm quadrilingual, although my Japanese could use some pumping up.)

It's been over 5 years since I've been in this dolly swamp. Consequently, my doll family has changed quite a bit. The bigger ones didn't stay long because I found them difficult to manage and cumbersome, but I find myself eyeing them more and more these days. At present, a bunch of the small and tiny ones with a cluster of 1/6 dolls take up my shelf space.

The Korean doll community is quite intimate; everyone tends to know everyone else (both online and off) and I've been rather fortunate to be able to work with and befriend many talented and fun people.
I like these international forums; I find the cultural differences in discussions very interesting and intriguing while the (very inexplicable, irrational, totally geeky) love of dolls remains universal.

I have a doll site (http://www.angmasuzy.x-y.net) but it's gotten a bit hybrid-like. I also talk a lot. Which, I think, is obvious. :blush

Jme
09-13-2007, 11:04 AM
I'm Jamie, and like quite a few others, you can find me on DoA (and Flickr) with the same handle as I have here. :) Currently 26, I am originally from Singapore, but came over to Australia for university and now live and work here - I work at the head office/support group of a large fabric and craft chain here in Aus. ;)

I first chanced upon my first bjd photo while reading a mook back in '05, and it was a Volks sculpt. I vaguely remember not really liking the faceup (well, who really like default Volks faceups?) but was intrigued by the beauty of the doll itself, and the posebility. Did a bit of digging and found DoA, where the I was prompted overwhelmed by the amount of information and size of the ABJD community that existed.

Stats wise, my first bjd was a Dollzone Xi that I got back in 2006 but he's recently been rehomed. My current doll family consists of:

Rome: Volks SD13 Tony (mod)
Israfel: Volks SD13 Williams
Waltz: Volks SD10 Sara
Poeme: Volks SD10 School C
Jelly: Volks YoTenshi Yuh
Lullay: Volks SD10 Sweet Dreams Nana
Thease: Volks SD13 Sweet Dreams Lucas (mod)
Messer: Volks YoSD Shinn

I love taking photos of my resin kids - it's one of the best parts I love about the hobby. I occasionally do handsew clothes for them as well, but mainly, I sew for the Blythe dolls that I also collect.

Loving the look of this community so far! I know I'm going to enjoy it here. <3

Soula
09-13-2007, 12:58 PM
Hello! My real name is Athanassia, everyday nickname is Soula. I always go by either which one of these is still available on forums and such. I'm half Dutch/half Greek and was born/raised in the netherlands. Married, 39 years old, am working for the Dutch railways company.

I've been collecting dolls since early 2001 (lost childhood stuff, vintage/mod Barbies and Blythe dolls at first). First abjd arrived a year later. Volks of course, there were no others. Nasia, Nono and Sinsia. Nowadays I'm mostly taken with the tiny sizes.
I enjoy taking photos of them the most. These are all on my Flickr page, that I consider my homepage.

Christina
09-13-2007, 02:15 PM
Hello,

My name is Christina, both in real life, on DoA and here. I'm probably the oldest members here, as I shall be 56 in November. I'm Danish and my husband is English. We have a daughter and a son, and we live in Brussels, Belgium. I'm currently working in an international institution, but I'm looking forward to my early retirement end of November, when I shall have more time to "play" with my dolls!

My daughter is to blame for my interest in this very nice, but extremely expensive hobby. When she got her first doll in 2004, I was conquered. I got my first doll beginning of 2005 and now have the following:
CLAIRE, Customhouse CeBee
VALDEMAR, Volks SD13 Link
LILY, Cerberus Project Lishe
JOSEPHINE, Volks CyndyII head on a FC body
MARTHA, Customhouse Petite AI Ramiel
ALEXANDER, called SACHA (originally Katai), Volks SD 13 boy, Shirou head on Isao body
MARKUS, Volks MSD Hewitt I head on a Volks Hewitt II body,
ISABELLE, Volks Cyndy II head on a Madoka body
ANNA, Volks MSD Mika

Howell Jenkins (CP Nanuri 2006)

Yo, My name is actually Melissa but I have the nickname of Nu, I'm from Adelaide in Australia. I'm 23 years old and I currently own 7 dolls and one floating head.

They are~~
Liadan - DoC Too
Caer - DoC T.Too/DZ hybrid
Tovi - DoC Zen/Dollmore hybrid
Dustin - DoC U/BW MNF hybrid
Teapot - DoC Hoo/Narae hybrid
Amaya - Volks YoSD Chinatsu
Ivory Silk Doll - CP BW Soo
unnamed - CP Nanuri07

I'm a bit of a hybrid addict and much prefer to mix and match bodies for my lovely little minis for variety and the right body type. I've only just ventured into the taller variety of dolls because Ivory insisted on being of the bigger variety.

The other big thing about me is I'm a huge tabletop roleplaying addict and at least 3 of my dolls are from characters in tabletop games.

I'm NightmareNurse, usually just shortened to Nurse or Nursey. I'm a boring ole stay at home mom that really doesn't do much besides clean and loaf on the couch when I'm not acting as entertainment for my 6 month old.
I've been in the hobby for about two years now, and have two dolls - Alice, a light slate gray kumi girl, and Cross, a snowskin elf lotti boy.

kersuru
09-13-2007, 10:30 PM
My handle is Kersuru. Here, LJ, DOA, and hotmail. You can find me by that ^^ I'm a big time lurker, maybe because what I have to say has already been said.

I'm a lovely server but you can just think of a cafe maid if you wish. My uniform is nothing awesome.
I've been "collecting" BJD's for 2+ years now, but I have been interested in dolls a long time. The big ones keep the little ones in check.

My babies that live with me and my manly man are:
Yumi - SD10 Volks Nono
Yuuki - Delf Yder
Tetsu - Delf The Moon [Soon to be reassembled]
Kyoshi - Dollshe Van and
Hush - Delf SooDarkHuman
Awaiting: Kumi - Volks Sweet Dreams Nono
And I have partial custody of Umeko - SD10 Nana with my Momma :)

I think my favorite part of this hobby has to be the customization and the ability to do or make whatever pops into my mind. I love sewing and I love making clothes for their size because it's so much easier.

Anything else? Well, I'm hoping to open a dollfie clothing store soon. It's been something that I've been wanting to do for a long time now.

09-14-2007, 12:46 AM
My real name is Susan, I am so far the token old lady and able to receive Social Security. I am Catwhiskers on all my forums, different spellings. I live in Southern Oregon, close to the California line. I have been collecting dolls of one sort or another all my life and BJD's for a couple of years. They have won my heart A few have come and gone to other homes. Right now I own 8, Three MSD and 5 tinys I have 4 tiny's in the wings and a Sist from the last order also coming here to live. The tinys under 20mm are my special interest and are a natural result of a life long interest in miniatures and children. I am setting up a resin preschool on my dining room table with everything that a well designed preschool should have. One, it justifies having so many tinys and two, makes use of my Master's in Early Childhood Education. An old and faded piece of paper that has had very little use for quite a while. And three, I have all those miniatures floating around. What is a girl to do. :p
I read through the intro's and see so many familiar names. It is like coming home.

I will be 56 in October.

09-14-2007, 07:59 AM
Hi hi! I'm Scotti (rowena pretty much everywhere except livejournal where I'm satansangel0308 (don't ask, its a loooong story)) and live in Missouri, near St. Louis. Currently I'm offically unemployed because I'm staying home to take care of my father, so I spend most of my days online, watching tv, knitting, or playing Animal Crossing. I got my first doll in May, a DollZone Shoyo, and I'm currently working on getting a second. My favorite aspect of the hobby is not only creativeness you get to show with the dolls, but the social interaction part of it as well. As for if there is anything else I'd like to tell you, I really can't think of anything that stands out as that interesting. Not unless you all care that what money doesn't go towards dolls goes towards feeding my other addictions of cosplay and knitting. Yarn and fabric are surprisingly expensive.

- What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby? The customizeability of the dolls.
- Anything else you feel like telling us! I currently do nothing but clean the house, play with my dolls, paint, sit on the computer, and play video games. I've never been to a doll meet-up, and hope to go to one soon! I also love selling things, because it makes people happy, and I end up creating a friendship through the transaction. And my username on DoA has nothing to do with Elegant Gothic Lolita. EGL just happened to become my initials after I got married last year.

celestia
09-14-2007, 09:03 AM
rawr.

What's your real name?
Cel, but i go by the name celestia or variations of the first half of my original screen name, celestialshit.
Only highschool friends call me by my birth name, but I'm in the process of legally changing it and have been so for several years... It was supposed to be done two years ago, but i obviously still have not gotten around to it... nor can it be done this year without it being inconvenient.

What's your occupation?
I'm currently a full time student attempting to change courses; one is to Pyschology/politics and the other is Fashion. Unfortunately for me, the first two years of higher-education (last two years) were catastrophic with a ridiculous amount of set backs... but hopefully now i'll keep on track and remain a student for the next few years = .= "

How long have you been collectiing BJDs?
Long story short, I planned from around 2002/2003 for a mold that could resemble a squaresoft character- but started buying my BJD in 2005 and have since expanded to my own characters.
So i probably entered the scene either late 2002 or early 2003.. same thing. X3

At that time I was trying to find a suitable presence to take on FFIX Kuja and even asked some of the companies to make one for me (lol!).. having faced defeat, i started researching the characteristics of these dolls two years later.

What dolls do you own?
DoD Tender Too- Alexanderubias
AngelRegion Kai- Kuja
Kyante Re-che - celestia
(by the time i get her i wont be able to update this anymore so X3 lol)

two modified head molds.
1.) Gomidoll Igon
2.)

What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?
The amount of customisation and personalisation that can go into the creativity pool of your own doll.
I love how it combines my most favourite elements of art; photography, modification, drawing, photography and clothe design.
I've always needed to take on an art subject to keep myself motivated, but this hobby accounts for all those elements I would otherwise have had to taken up separately .. suffice to say I'm satiated.

Silver Nyx
09-14-2007, 09:06 AM
What's your real name? Amanda, though I go by Silver Nyx in all the BJDs scenes :3

What's your occupation? Long suffering student, though I am graduating in a week or so. Then few months off before Uni or deferment. I am a sucker for delaying decisions.

How long have you been collectiing BJDs?
I am about to recieve my first doll, as soon as the Unoa preorder comes in. But I have stalked DoA, and the BJD fandom since March 2006. I am only 18 (just turned on the 24th), and haven't had to money to actually consider buying a doll until now. And as it would have it, I wanted a unoa when the pre-order came around (haha, I lie, I've waited months for the pre-order, just gave me more time to save up)

Woah, two years, that's a bit extreme.

What dolls do you own?
Though officially I don't have her on hand, I have perchased a Alchemic Labo Unoa Sist 1.5 with the large 'milk' part.

I just like writing that out <3

Hello, all

- What's your occupation? Grad student
- How long have you been collecting BJDs? About 2 years. I've lurked for longer, but I don't remember how long.

Anthea Young (DIM Marianne)
Silent Hill 3's Heather Morris (45cm Tanning Butterfly Narae)

- What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby? I'm not sure, there's so much I like. I certainly sew piles of clothes for my girls and I like playing around with their looks. I've also really enjoyed meeting lots of people, in person and online, through this hobby.

Stormlight
09-14-2007, 04:56 PM
Hello all! My name is Shauna, but I generally go by Stormlight on most other forums on the net. I've used Stormlight as a username and a pen name for so long that it's practically as second-nature to me as my own name. If somebody in real life called me Stormlight, I'd probably answer to it. :oops

For the past five years, I've work in a car battery manufacturing plant called Exide, molding and lugging the plastic casing and covers for the batteries. It's a hot, sweaty, dirty job in an unairconditioned factory building. And unfortunately, it pays the kind of money I need to keep feeding my dolly addiction, so I've never found a good reason to leave it.

I've been collecting BJDs for a little under a year and a half, and I've somehow come to own way too many in that short amount of time. To list them (in no particular order):

1 CP Moon
1 CP Dark Elf Soo (beauty white)
1 CP Dark Elf Soo (tanning)
1 CP Chiwoo-elf (plus spare vampire dreaming head)
2 CP Kid Delf Ani elves (twin boy and girl)
1 Minifee Shiwoo
1 Minifee Lishe
1 Minifee Shiwoo-elf (plus vampire sleeping head)
1 Bambicrony elf Pepe (light slate gray, which is technically more blueberry in color)
1 Dollmore Model Kyle Reese
1 CP Nanuri 2006 head
1 CP Juri 2006 head

...and a partridge in a pear tree. :p

My favorite aspect of the BJD hobby? So hard to choose. I'd have to say perhaps how customizable they are. And there are elves. Lots and lots of elves. I have a very long-standing obsession with elves and faeries, and have a rather large figurine and statuette collection already. The dolls just make it better 'cause I can play with them. :dance

I also love to write, and I've found that these dolls are very inspirational to me as a writer. Each doll has his or her own personality and history, and I love creating their characters as much as I love customizing their appearance.

And...um...that's about as interesting as I get, so that's about all I have to say.

-What's your real name?
Karyne, but I'm more or less known as Karei online. ^^

- What's your occupation?
Primary school teacher for 70% of the time. Illustrator/artist for 20%, and slacker for the remainder.

- How long have you been collecting BJDs?
Since the middle of 2005. And it's mostly Myth and Crystarlia's faults. :P

- What dolls do you own?
*points at signature* Cerberus Project Elf Yder, Angel Region Ren, Bambicrony Kumi. Am currently satisfied with this three. Amazing, right? :O We'll see what happens the next time some company comes out with new dolls.

- What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?
Making clothes and finding tiny props for the dolls! And photography is pretty fun too. ^^ I love reading other people's photostories and am always amazed and inspired at the amount of creativity that they put into them. :)

- Anything else you feel like telling us?
Nice to meet all of you, and I hope to make more new friends through this forum. ^_^

whoops, totally failed to see this :sweat (*waves to karei* =D)

I'm pretty much going around by Myth or Myth720 in forums... I already enjoy this forum a lot, not that i had problems with DoA... except being able to enter it at all >_>

I'm 27+ and live in Israel... (usually i rather not say it, but i feel comfortable enough here :))
I got into BJDs in 2005, I've seen them before on my LJ flist, but never thought i could pay so much on a doll :oops Tolen is actually the first BJD in the country, or maybe even the entire middle east xD; now there are a couple more outside of my room though ^^

I still haven't mastered the art of posing and taking pics, but I quite enjoy just looking at them... and at everyone's dolls, really. i just love seeing all dolls out there because i could never own them. i do wish there were more doll owners in this country =(

09-14-2007, 08:26 PM
hi i'm jessica and AlexiusSana on DoA.

i'm 21 and currently working under the title of 'comic artist' but truth is i do everything from design to disposing garbage haha.

i was exposed to bjds at a local anime event in the year 2002 (i think) but brought my first doll home only last year (2006) august.

Currently, i own a DoC Too and a MNF elf shushu (and her sleeping head). I was planning for my family to end at 2, but it looks like thats not going to happen at all ^^;.

There's something about bjds that ever so easily captures the imagination and that's probably what got me hooked! My kids are the tangible versions of characters that i usually draw.

Nice to meet everyone!

Ro
09-14-2007, 09:22 PM
Hi, I'm Roberta, Ro for short.
Or occasionally wererabbit, whenever two-letter usernames are not allowed. ;)
I'm 30, I live in a nondescript small town in northern Italy and, to fund my dollie habit, I work as a webdeveloper at a small software house.
I've been collecting dolls for well over 4 years now, mostly Blythe dolls, and I've only just started with bjds.
For the longest time I used to think Asian ball-jointed dolls where quite pretty too look at but not-my-cup-of-tea-really.
Well, it turns ou I was very wrong! I just hadn't found the right one(s).

My first BJD purchase was a Liebchen by Fancyboots, who finally arrived on February 07.
I also have a 43cm Narae and a little Roonodoll Yumi.
Now I'm patiently waiting for the AL Unoa Sist I preordered through Crescent Shop. ;)

I love sewing for my dolls! I'm a bit preoccupied with Blythe clothes at the mo', but I'm really looking forward to dedicating more time to my bjds.

09-14-2007, 09:28 PM
Hi! I'm Pax aka VinylFaerie. I'm 25 and BJDs have been taking over my life for the last year or so. I have 3 fulls dolls, 1 on layaway and 6 floating heads. I eventually plan to create my own dolls and I work toward that a little every day. I'm working on my first head now.

I have two little (human) boys who take up most of my time: Ethan who is 2 1/2 and Trent, who just turned one.

I do the admin stuff over at ResinNation (http://resinnation.jconserv.net): an Indiana BJD board and I wrote the BJD_WTF (http://bjd_wtf.livejournal.com).

My dolls are:
Sevyn - a CP Vampire Dark Elf Soo who has been dyed green.
Syren - a CP Juri 05 on a Volks DDII body.
Ollie - a CP Vampire Elf Yder on a Flexi-Girl body.
Aelice - Dolkot Leaf head.
Phaedryn - CP Nanuri06 head.
Venice - CP Vampire Shiwoo head.
Korbin - CP SS Moon (mod elf) head.
Mobrey - King's Castle Peroth head.

My real name's Audra and I'm from Hawaii. I used to work at our State Capitol for a local senator, but decided to take the plunge to pursue a career in comic art. (If interested, visit http://nemu-nemu.com!)
Art's been a long time hobby for me and collecting and customizing these dolls really appeals to that particular aesthetic in my life. I love looking at owner photos and shopping for those just right parcels of clothing, eyes, wigs to get the look I have in mind. I'm just waiting for the right moment in time to break out my paints and try and do face-ups~

I started my collection in late 2005. Everything seems to happen in threes - Although I had commissioned a Sato MSD girl, the first to arrive was my Volks LE Tae from the LA Sumika opening. Soon after, I found a SDC Kurenai on ebay for a good price, then my Sato F-06 arrived about a month after that. My next doll was a School Head B, which sits on my table, waiting to be painted. Following soon after was my Yo-SD Kuuta, whose body I swapped for a girl mold. My latest acquisitions have been a SDC Ren head and SDC SwD Kaede... although I haven't even had time to remove Kaede from her shipping box.. I've just been too busy with deadlines.

Hello everyone. I usually lurk. I'm prolly the ole lady on the block. I've been around for many years. Ahem. I'm Catsy on DOA but pretty much everywhere else I go I use my real name which is catcooter. I got into BJD's before they were considered fashionable. I discovered them in exploring my anime fetish and just got addicted. My first doll was an oldskin Volks MSD Magie who I adore. She was bought second hand. Thankees for having me.

My real name is Val, and you may feel free to address me as such (or as V6). I'm a full-time student at Wheaton College in Massachusetts, and I also work in Boston on the weekends. I've been collecting since March 2006, and I own an MSD Ken, a Dollshe Bernard, two CP girls- Soo Special (open-eyed head) and Lishe, and a Yo-SD Puff. I also have two floating heads; both NaNuRi versions in NS, which I'm hoping to get a body to share soon. My favorite aspect of the BJD hobby is probably taking pictures and getting to see the characters I have in my brain come out in doll form.

I'm 21 years old. Other internet aliases include ainotorikomi [DoA/livejournal], V6 [vox], orlando [ConDoll] and Lakshmi [Den of Demons]. My family owns three horses, three dogs, two cats, and a bunch of other animals, though my BJDs spend most of their time with me at school, where I'm currently animal-less. I'm basically an outdoorsy person with a penchant for Asian (particularly Japanese) culture and languages who is in love with their car (even if it is falling apart).

That was long-winded enough, I think. :]

Howdy!

Call me InkyBear or Inky ;) I'm an 18 year old student who currently resides in the little town of Nowhere ( also known as Woodland ) in California. I have an account on DoA that I visit frequently as well, also under the same name ^_^

I first really started looking into BJDs about 5 months ago, right before Fanime Con, and it was at the convention my love for these beautiful resin creatures was sealed. I currently have living with me a somewhat touchy Homme Kirrill from Dream of Doll who goes by the name of Nazomi ( or Nana as I so fondly refer to him ).

I adore this hobby for both it's usages as a creative outlet on my writing, sewing and photography skills, as well as it helps settle the inner collector within me.

Adieu!

09-15-2007, 04:26 AM
H'lo! Finally decided to make my first post here. :)

- What's your real name?
Samantha, but I usually go by kaorucamui or kamimura online.

- What's your occupation?
I'm currently an undergraduate at a local university, majoring in Communications and New Media, with aspirations of becoming a journalist or creative director in the future.

- How long have you been collecting BJDs?
Since 2005, I think.

- What dolls do you own?
Akito - Volks F-17
Seira - Souldoll Paris
Yuuya - Volks School A
Haruka - Dollsoom Gena
Satomi - Akira Workshop (Taiwanese artist) Uriel
Antonio Garcia - Volks Scarface Cecile Ocean of Deep Black ver.
Darius Kroger - Volks School C

- What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?
They're sort of like a creative outlet for me, especially since I tend to get all these ideas in my head (particularly when I'm geeking out about something) and have these pressing urge to materialize them somewhere. ^^ Since I kind of fail at drawing and am having lesser and lesser time to actually sit down to pen a story nowadays, dressing up and photographing my dolls are the most ideal way for me to put these ideas and concepts into a more tangible form.

I also like creating histories and personalities for them, and I've never failed to be amazed at some of the awesome concepts that some BJD owners have come up for their dolls! :D

Pleased to meet you all!

I'm a guy, if that isn't obvious enough. In addition to BJD's, I collect Pinky:St figurines.

As always, I'm a little slow in making myself known :sweat

I'm Lauren, an Australian 25 years young with an honours degree in creative writing, going into my second year as an English teacher in Kanazawa, which is an old castle town on the west coast of Japan.

I've been into BJDs since early 2005, when a friend on Livejournal adopted an F-16 boy and started spamming her f-list with photos. I impulsively bid on a DoD U that was up on ebay in the June of that year, and never looked back.

I've five resin lovelies sharing my apartment at present (six if you count the one on his way, seven if you count the one looking for a new home :oops)

Dylan - Volks MSD F-08 boy
Rhee - Serendipity Sharmin
Cait - Volks MSD F-06 girl
Raffael - Volks SD13 Tsukasa Konoe
Gwen - Volks SD13 Emma
Jin - (incoming)

My favourite aspect of this hobby is easily the friends I've made through it! Back in Australia, our monthly doll meets were something I would always look forward to (and something I miss dreadfully now). I also have quite a penchant for dressing my lovelies up and changing their looks, whenever time allows.

Anything else? Well, I live two hours away from Kyoto, so I'm often going there to look around, and I usually drop by Tenshi no Sato whenever I'm in town. I take Sato FCS orders every couple of months from people over on DoA :D

Mostly known as leXis or Aries Draco around the internet. Mummy said never to use my real name on the internet, so I shall refrain.

Currently an engineering student in university studying Material Science and Engineering.

Got my first doll in Dec 2005, so I guess it's close to 2 years?

I don't really know why I'm into dolls anymore. It was originally because I liked the customizability, but, considering the amount of time I've been spending on that aspect (read ~0), I'm not sure anymore... fantasy fulfilment, maybe?

Eventually, I'll swing back with photos, clothes, furniture, wigs... maybe during the holidays next year... =_=

Hi hi~!

What's your real name?
Yvonne. But a lot of my online friends call me Wicked ;)
What's your occupation?
I'm a 3rd year college student, majoring in philosophy.
How long have you been collectiing BJDs?
I received my first BJD in March/April of this year... so, about 6 months or so.
What dolls do you own?
- Bluefairy Sweet Day May
- Bluefairy Sweet Day Sleeping Minimay
- Customhouse Petite Ai Gabriel (currently a work-in-progress)
What's your favorite aspect of the BJD hobby?
There's so many different BJDs out there - and so many looks their owners can give them! Which means there's really no two doll-families exactly alike :)
Anything else you feel like telling us?
I never really was someone who played with dolls as a kid. I was a closet American Girl doll collector for several years, but kept getting turned off by the fact that they are mass produced and targeted at the tween demographic (I'm still fairly active in the AG community, basically because I have a lot of friends I made there). I'm very happy to have found ABJDs, because they are of the quality, workmanship, and customizeability I've always longed for. I also like that they seem to be targeted towards (and are collected by) 'adults'. Which, I guess at 31 years of age, I can be classified as being. And they're just so pretty... love them~!:heart

Officially I'm a web designer/developer with a small business from home. I live in the Netherlands with my U-Noa's Tinka (Sist), Teagan (Sist/B-El hybrid) and Jinx (Lusis). They're a handful ^^

Since June 2006 I make and sell 43cm U-Noa/Narin girls and boys fashion on eBay, under the brand name Zolala!.
Needless to say I love sewing, and my girls and boy are my muses :)
I also enjoy taking pictures, and being creative in general.
