I've noticed that few dolls sometimes have two different eyes; one pink or red and the other blue or brown. Is there a meaning behind this that I am missing? Or is it just because it looks cool?

My El wears two different colored eyes simply because it suited him, though my next boy is based specifically on a werewolf character I have who has mismatched eyes, so he'll have them as well.

I really think it's mostly a matter of taste. My incoming ( so close to June! Can't wait to order him!! *dance* ) will have two different colored eyes. It doesn't really have a 'deeper' meaning other than a little bit of insight to his personality/species as well an important starting point for him and his partner. <3

A girl I went to college with has different colored eyes.

A doll I will be modding up once the USPS gets him here will have one gray eye, and one missing eye. I have been contemplating getting a less-than-matching (very subtly) glass eye to put in there to suggest him having a prosthetic eye in, but I haven't figured out if I want to do that or not.

They were matching before he lost the eye.

One of my dolls has mismatched eyes (one very pale pink, and the other darker pink) because of the background story of character behind him.

My Akane has one pale purple eye and one slightly gold eye because they're defective default Shirou HGs. I purposely bought them for him, knowing they were defective because I like the way they look. :D

We have a set of twins with heterochromia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heterochromia), which is the name for the condition in which someone has two differently-colored eyes. :) It's part of their character design.

I'm considering having my next doll have mismatched eyes. I'm thinking more of one normal, and one blind/ white. Not sure though I love the way they look. ^)^

Nana has mismatched eyes just because. Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't. It just depends on what mood I'm in when I change them.

She's got a soom violet and a soom veneo.

mismatched eyes sometimes give the face a more unique look?to me, Doll eyes affect the way the face looks and 2 colours will affect the overall look even more..

I never knew there was a name for this condition!

My second boy Taku has a 'default' blind eye on his right and that's part of his character. I just thought it would be interesting to have his left eye of a different color :)

My twins each have a green eye and purple eye, but in opposite positions. I really didn't have any special reason behind this other than to build on them being opposite personalities. :nod

I have a HappyDoll Dorothy that was designed with mismatched eyes, and I love the look on her. Even though I have since changed her eyes. Today I recieved a cute little mini Miyu with mismatched eyes from Kay Wiggs and I love her. Now if I could only find her a body?

Yeah its odd,.... I have noticed a few sites selling eyes individually. But I think that is mostly due to the popularity of winking style dolls rather than odd eyes.

My Soo Ri Twins have odd coloured eyes, One is blue, one is amber orange on Aquilla, One is Amber orange, the other blind in Hyon.

The choice of odd eyes was story related for me. Aquila was born blind in his left eye. Hyon gave his left eye to his younger twin to enable him to see the world as he did. He became the half blind one and his brother gained two mismatched eyes.

Its confusing but it was necessary for their backgrounds. *_*

When I get the roda I'm after to represent a story character I write about, she's gonna have a green eye and a blue eye. If only cause I can never remember the character's actual eye color.

popularity of winking eye dolls? how many are there? o_o;
I can only think of Ari (?) who I doubt is on sale in luts anymore, and Volks' scarfaces and modded sleeping dolls^^;

As for myself I don't have any odd eyed character, but am inclined to try it one day. The assymetry could put me off, but so far the thought seems lovely ;3

I do have a doll whose eyes changes colour once a month for a week tho xD

My mismatched boy started off as Jareth (David Bowie). I didn't want to do thevaried pupils so I just made one eye black and the other blue. His concept has since changed...but I love his eyes as they are:)

I have seen themed dolls like steampunk and so a doll may have one "normal" eye and one that is made of clock parts.

i'm actually buying several different color eyesfor the reasoning of being able to have my dolls have 2 different eyes at the same time. depending on the BJD or just the owner it sometimes looks better with the different eyes :kisses

My Astrid has mismatched eyes and a white lock of hair due to Waardenburg syndrome. (I get a little out of control with backstory sometimes.)

I want to say "to each his/her own on mixing eyes but all I can personnaly look at when they don't match is that they don'r match and it looks really weird to me, I have a cousin who actually has a blue and a brown eye and I knda feel as if I stare at the difference, If you like it though, you should do it! the ABJD's are all about you own creation after all, it just won't be me.

When I was picking out the eyes for my doll, I couldn't decided between purple and grey.
So I decided to use both, so she has one purple and one gray eye!
I'm considering doing the same with the head I am working on at the moment, but I cannot decide if I wish to use the other two eyes or buy a new set..

I have a cousin who has one brown eye and one blue/brown eye.
The blue brown eye is sort of half and half. It's very cool looking.
I have a smaller doll that I has one pale lavender eye and one dark green.
The effect is quite interesting.

I'm trying to find a pair of circuit board eyes.......

saw them in a picture and they look really cool

and I like the idea of different colored eyes, my problem is narrowing it down to two!!

One of my characters is blind in one eye so his doll form reflects that. I'm also contemplating giving one of my wolf characters one gold and one grey eye since that's not that uncommon in canines.
