Mt girlfriend is seeking to purchase her fist doll from a US-import site called Dolls and Friends (http://dollsandfriends.com/). I was wondering if anyone here had bought one of their imported BJDs before? Specifically, she's looking to get the DollZone Shoyo or a DollZone Floy. I'm not seeking a review of DollZone right now, but rather the ease of ordering, time to arrive, and any shipping concerns through Dolls and Friends.
The two of us are strapped for money and we're looking to save a bit of cash with them. Thanks much.

( We're still pining after dolls from Iplehouse and Dollmore, if any of you saw my previous question thread, but she's fallen in love with some other, cheaper faces for the moment. xD )

Dolls and Friends are awesome. They make layaway really easy and are quick to ship. (I have done two layaways with them this year)

Thanks for the quick response. =D
We like the layaway option very much.

They're really great to deal with--pleasant and prompt in their emails. Layaway is really easy to arrange (I don't actually know how it works, because as soon as I put my doll on layaway with them, I got a ton of overtime at work that meant I could pay for her immediately.)

As of last summer, they would order your preorder layaway items before you finished paying your layaway (not everywhere does this. And I don't know if they still do or not.)

Also, if you sign up for their email newsletter, you get a code for a discount on shipping.

I ordered my Baha with Dolls and Friends. They were very easy to set up a layaway with, and extremely helpful when I emailed them! :)

They do because my Feanor was a layaway preorder.

We may not be using layaway the first time around but I'm sure that broke-artist me will have to when I order from them (she's conned me into buying whichever doll she doesn't get xD).
But that discount of shipping is welcome news. We will be taking advantage of tha one.
Thanks so much, everyone.

I don't have information on shipping turnaround times for Dolls & Friends because they are local to me but I can say they are really lovely people. When I purchased my Pipos Curo from them I had called ahead earlier in the day. The lady there pulled the Curo and opened up the box to ensure he was intact and had him all set and waiting for me when I arrived.

I have had a good experience with them as well. I preordered an Elfdoll dreaming head. I paid more than the usual deposit and had a small glitch when I was invoiced for 90% of the remaining total instead of the 50% that I had left unpaid. It was cleared up in a matter of minutes and I got my head within a week after it arrived in the US. It took about a month or two from the time I ordered to the time I received it.

Be sure to ask if the doll is in stock so that you have an idea of the time. I do know that sometimes they order their dolls on a preorder basis and don't always have them instock. The time it would take to get your doll is based mostly on if they have it instock and how long the manufacturer takes to produce the dolls. There was a huge lag with Dollzone's production this last winter with all of the holidays and the increased volume of orders.

My girlfriend is putting in her order later tonight. We've gotten in touch and the doll she's after now (Soulkid something-or-another) is the last one they've got in-stock. She's so excited.
My Floy is preorder only now and Kathy told me that he would take some time to come in once I get around to ordering him, same with my gf's second doll. But I'm patient, it's all good.
Thanks much. ^^

I love D&F - I ordered a Unidoll on layaway from them and it went beautifully. I'd also, during the layaway, bought some Dollmore stuff, and they were happy to hold it for me and pack it with my doll, saving shipping. I've also bought Dollheart items (including a Fer) from them. Completely professional, very responsive, and just all-around great service.
