Hi there!
I have no idea whereabouts I was going to get an answer for this but...I have recently acquired a Amakusa head second hand with the eyes taken out by the previous owner.
I was thinking about selling the eyes today and when I took them out I realised the size difference in the eyes. One of them is a long stem and the other one a short. And the circumference of one eye is obviously bigger than the other.
Is this normal for LE heads to have different eyes or am I just being paranoid? O.O
Could the seller have sent me wrong eyes ._.
Thanks all :D

I have an Amakusa and have taken his eyes out and I didn't notice anything like you were talking about. His eyes are actually in another doll now and both seem very nice and uniform. I might ask the seller about that.

Could you post photos of the eyes? Some have the stem broken off more than others, but the difference in size sounds strange.

All the eyes are handmade so it's not out of the question (and fairly common, actually) that the eyes could be different sizes. However, usually a better job is done to match the eyes. That said, if the irises and pupils matched well enough and the eyes fill the eye opening well enough they may have decided that was enough.

Okay, the stem length is just as Kaighn says, but I am a little surprised to see how different they look. Sure, it happens, but it is noticeable.

I've not seen Volks HG eyes with stems of such markedly different lengths before, but as others have said, it's not unusual with glass eyes in general. Still, you might want to quiz the seller on exactly what type of eyes they are.
Do the eyes have any residue around them from where they would have been hot-glued in?

nup. none from what i can tell
The thing is, the colour of the irises and pupils are the same but the difference is so big that one of them doesn't sit snugly in his eyewell while the other sits in perfectly.
I bought the under the impression that those were his original eyes and I'd like some confirmation.

The previous owner could have been incredibly thorough in removing the hot glue, but from the sounds of it, the eyes you have are probably not Amakusa's defaults. :cry
You'll really need to contact the seller for confirmation, or else compare them physically with a pair you know for certain are Amakusa's defaults.

I don't think those are Amakusa defaults. Those look lighter than the ones that came with mine, plus his are supposed to have black threading. It's present and very noticeable in mine, but I can't see any black lines in yours. I agree that you should contact the seller.
I can also take a picture of my Amakusa eyes tonight, if you'd like me to. I'm pulling them out tonight so it should be easy.

Wow that can't be right. It looks like she sent you one 16mm & one 18mm. Definitely contact her and ask if she got them mixed up with another set.
