Ok, who's from the U.K and what do you think of a physical shop in the U.K?

What do you guys think about AoD...would an AoD Shop work (with accessories etc..) One catch... purchases must be made in the shop or through phone... bad idea, huh?

Tell me what you think...

To be totally and honestly blunt... I don't think a physical BJD shop in the UK would ever work. Sorry. There are a lot of reasons for this.

Biggest one is that after considering the markup you would have to add to cover the cost of a shop, wages, other bills, any sort of profit, VAT, etc... they'd end up cost a lot more than just buying one online. So why would anyone bother buying from a physical shop?

what if it culd be the same price as the manufacturer's web prices?... only thinking about it... yeah, i think i must concur... not enough demand, is there?

it could be possible to do this BUT not exclusively as a bjd shop, and it would take a high investment ammount to get started. An import doll shop mainly online to start that was diversified enough to include fashion dolls such as pullip, blythe, takara jenny, and licca etc would be good. Even an online shop in the uk would be excellent though. i dream of not being scared to buy new dolls from over seas because of customs charges!!

i would love a bjd shop in the uk,definetly, where they had clothes and accessories in the shop, but if you wanted to order a doll then they could say import it for you over the phone or something, that would be cool,i know there is a uk dollzone site on internet to order clothes they have in stock, and i use them, its far quicker then waiting 2 weeks,im so impatient sometimes

There's a visical shop in the Netherlands. (http://shop.fashiondoll.nl/) They're open on saturdays and you can make viewing apointments for the rest of the week. They go around all the events (doll & Manga) as well. They have a moderate but varied stock.
So it does work. Maybe some-one can start one like that?

I use an online uk shop called angelesque (carol white) and they are great lovely lady runs it from her own home. But another with different dolls and accessories is a great idea. I would be really interested in doing business!

This is sooo tempting! An actual shop here in the UK would be so fab, but I am afraid there just isnt enough money in it to make a living, let alone pay the upkeep of a shop :(

I run Angelesque and also work part time in a call centre lol! I love the people I meet and also get to a few shows, but even though the BJD hobby is growing in the UK there just isnt enough people interested in the range of companies you could realistically hold stock for here.

Fingers crossed it continues to grow in the next few years and someone can open a shop here, but I cant unfortunately see it yet :)

Cheers Carol x
