Where have you taken YOUR mini?? :D

Since a large part of MSD vs. SD is the size and portability... I thought it would be fun to ask where have you taken yours?? :?

Whether it's somewhere out on the town (or in the middle of nowhere hehe), or just somewhere fun around the house!

Or even just an interesting spot for photos, where you wouldn't normally realize where they are just by looking, since it's not normally how you see it! (like in a laundry basket or something else creative!)

Heh heh, I've put one of my minis in my laundry basket just today! He just looked so cute curled around my sweater. But I've taken my minis all over: work, shopping at the mall, plays, movies. They've seen it all. I haven't gotten the guts to take them to amusement parks or on airplanes yet. Some day I'd like to take them overseas or to Disney or on a cruise ship or on vacation or something.

I've taken mine to plenty of restaurants, a couple plays, the mall, and out in the woods/waterfalls for nature shoots.

I'd like to take her with me to Paris next month, but I'm too scared that something will go wrong at the airport/customs. It just isn't worth possibly losing a $400 doll.

Illya was in my carryon. No one looked twice except the flight staff. I had a front seat so my carryon needed to be stowed. I just took her out and sat her on my lap. She was a great conversation piece.

I've brought my girl to Providence when I lived there for 2 weeks with teh boyfriend. I love how portable mini's are and even though I love SD sized dolls and their molds, I can't see anyone but my Unoa or my Yo-tenshi being my travel buddies. :]

I've taken my first girl out quite a lot of times, a doll meet which was fantastic, also several non BJD doll shows where people LOVE her, especially the stall holders who have often heard of BJD but not seen one.

I took he to Japanex where most of the stall holders wanted to see her up close, she is a roving ambassador for BJDS lol :)

I also take her to model horse shows, often she is competing with her horse Gala, but more often than not she just comes along to sit in her deckchair wearing her Mascot for the stable tee shirt and looks pretty - in fact i nearly always take two because one girl who goes regularly can't afford a doll, so I just hand over one of mine for the day and she has a lovely time playing and getting used to handling them in preparation for getting her own.

I wish I had the nerve to just take them out, I have been out in nature for a shoot for a photo competition, I needed a 'stately home and parkland' background, I'm ok if no one I know is likely to be around, or it's a doll event so people are fine with folks wondering around holding random dolls....I wouldn't feel comfortable taking her around my village tho.

Cammy almost always goes to Wal-Mart with me. . . She's also been to a few historical landmarks with me as well as parks. As of writing this she'll be going to her first meet up Next Saturday. x3

Haha... Seeing this thread made me remember my first years being a BJD owner. I brought my Shuri everywhere: to my high school, to malls (he's been to every mall within the vicinity), to Hong Kong (Ocean Park, Disneyland HK, Dollheart, and some small shops), my graduation, my graduation ball, my friend's debut (18th birthday, that is), to several local places (Laguna, Tagaytay, Cebu, Bohol, Davao, etc.), to every relative's place, to several places in China (Xia Men, Guang Zhou, Beijing, etc.)... He's also toured most of my friends' houses--he's even been to my friend's dorm that I haven't been to yet.

I don't bring him everywhere anymore, but on the occasions of traveling to another country/local destination, I usually take one or two (or three) of my dolls with me. :P (Which is probably why no face-up lasts with me and why my dolls with pale skintones usually becomes so dirty, so fast...)

Although, it's still a hassle to bring them through all the necessary checks in the airport, even if they're not as big as the 60cm dolls. Ugh. @_@; Imagine having to push your feet into your chucks and tying them while grabbing your dolls from the x-ray-like machine and while the queue is waiting to get their bags/shoes after being checked for bombs and other such dangerous paraphernalia. (Did I make any sense at all?)

I take Adelheid lots of places.

She comes with me to friend's houses, school, the mall, stores, restaurants/cafes, the park, on adventures, out for drives...anywhere she won't get damaged.

I especially like taking her to bookstores and Longwood Gardens.

However, I really haven't had her long enough to really take her someplace unusual. xP

I have a tendency of taking one of my mini's with me when I go out, e.g. when I go hiking, go to the park, dine at restaurants, have afternoon tea at a cafe etc. I intend to take one of them with me when I go travelling overseas! ;)

They are portable and I love taking them with me when I go out. Unfortunately there are two things that bother me:
- I use a 60cm doll carrier bag, people love bumping into my bag somehow no matter how I try to avoid them and hold onto my bag...
- People love taking photos of my doll(s) behind my back, which I think is quite rude and drives me nuts.

Fox has come with me to anime conventions, meet-ups, the doctor's office. He's also been to Bronner's, the largest Christmas store in the world. He's flown on planes, he goes to Wal Mart, Target, Hobby Lobby and JoAnn's. He's always an excellent conversation starter. :) He doesn't get out much lately since I've been so busy with school, but I believe that will change.

I'm thinking I'll probably take Kestrel, since he's one I painted and also is the most "normal" looking one. Mine frequent my sewing room :o) This way they are in easy reach when I get the urge to design for them. So far they have been to Matsuricon where they also attended me to a local Japanese restraunt for sushi. In a few weeks I am taking one or both to a their first doll meet. That is cool that people take their dolls everywhere with them, even to work. I would be afraid I'd set it down and forget it, done that with my purse before..eek. Or that they would get damaged somehow.

My girl just went to the Cleveland Handmade Market with me yesterday. She sat in her wicker chair at my booth. I took her for a stroll, and spoke to one gentleman at length about BJD's, at least what I know. He was suprised she could stand, he was also an artist and was saying how they would be perfect for figure drawing instead of those wood looking forms...I agree. Reminding me it has been a long time since I did any illustrating, will have to pose her up and see what I come up with.
Other than that no one even seemed to notice her, or if they did they didn't comment on her at all. :o(

I like to take my mini everywhere. She folds up in my arms and half the time I forget she's there. She's been to Applebee's, Chelmsford Tea, Borders, my wedding, my honeymoon suite and lobby, Kansas City Ren Fair, the Great Plains Ren Fair, Botanica, Red Lobster, Hobby Lobby and Michael's, work, oh and OKC for a doll meet. My husband laughs when I seat belt her into my truck. I haven't gone out of state really, but we've talked about a vacation and when we go, she will surely go too.

:D i was just looking up the dates for the next Megacon in Orlando, thinking just this thing. i've kind of missed going since college, it was a lot of fun.

So far they come with me to my anime club, anime cons, friend's place, work(well my tiny, my msd might be too big and attention getting), and hopefully one or both(or all three, 2 msd and 1 tiny) might come with me to europe next year!
