I was just reading over the rules to see what dolls were considered off topic, and your rules don't seem as strict as DoA's.. but could you please tell me if there are any specific companies that are considered off topic? (Goodreau, Dollfie Dreams, etc) Thanks!

I'd like to know also--I'd have my friend join this forum, but she has an RanD Angel Karen; which is ball jointed, wears wigs, has changeable eyes etc but is still considered a fashion doll...so... :sweat

I apologise for the delayed response to this -- we've all been a bit overwhelmed with real life/sickness the last week or so so it's taken us awhile to address this!
We're generally not as strict as DoA and we tend to just deal with these issues as they come up -- that is to say, if someone wants to post them, then we'll make a decision. :)
Goodreau dolls are considered OT but are welcome to be posted in the OT Dolls & Toys usergroup. :)
Dollfie Dream (and 60cm Obitsu) are generally fine, since they meet the basic conceptual feel of ABJDs and have always been accepted in the ABJD community.
We were never really definitive on the RanD Angels but we're fairly laidback.. I'm sure it'd be fine for your friend to join up and post pictures of her doll. :)

If I might add to this question, how about the anthro dolls? Little cats and bunnies. They seem to be getting banned on another forum. Id be so very sad if I didnt see their cute faces around anymore. (well some faces aren't that cute but you know, a mothers eyes...)

They are? My goodness, I don't see why they'd be off-topic. All the ones I've seen certainly are in the spirit of ABJDs.
Right now I think it's safe to say they are perfectly fine. I'm honestly surprised that they'd be considered OT elsewhere unless there's some specifics I'm missing out on? :?

It's only on a case by case basis, and no you aren't missing anything. That other forum is known for being picky about what they allow. From what Karhys says, Resinality is laid back. So it's probably not an issue at the present.

Ohh.. that is SUCH a relief. I can't believe how strict the other forum is getting, so it's really nice to have somewhere to retreat from all the constrictions! xD Thanks for your answer, Karhys (and everyone else too!). :3

We love anthro dolls. :D Heck, I have one planned myself (eventually) and I'd be pretty sad if I couldn't post it! I believe that they fit the asian aesthetic of BJD to begin with (especially if you look at some of the stylistics of anthro animals in art, manga, anime etc in Asia) and they're already so prevalent within the ABJD community and as a part of people's BJD families, and offered by so many companies that already offer BJD.. I think it'd be odd to turf them out. Please don't hesitate to post them here. :) As with any other doll -- if people don't want to see them, they don't have to click on your thread, while those that like them will be happy to look. :)
We do our best to be laidback here. We still have a general focus for on-topic dolls and such, but it's a loose interpretation based on the overall feel of the hobby and the community that participates in it. Without the community, the hobby and forums like this wouldn't exist, so... if the community is comfortably incorporating a type of doll, then I think we'd like to incorporate it as well. :) So we're always open to new dolls and we're not too likely to just out and out ban dolls from the forum, unless we really do feel strongly that it doesn't fit in with the general overall style. And even in that case, you can post it in the gallery with your other dolls, and if you want to post it by itself, we have the OT Dolls & Toys sub-forum for just that purpose. So there's still plenty of room for your doll to participate and be loved. :D

Thank you Karhys for being so responsive, and thank you Mods for making this place so open and inclusive. It really improves the 'community feel' around here to know what you adore/love will not exclude you.

Oh my god I'd love to see a puppy sculpt! That would be totally adorable :3
Yeah it's nice because you can always go to the OT forum too for anything you're not sure on either!
