View Full Version : Lower Cost Mini and Large BJD's

(I am moving this here so new people can see it - it got moved to Sewing where they could not)
There are some less expensive resin BJD's - from under $200 for a nude mini (1/4 size, about 43cm) with no faceup (no face paint) and from about $300 for a large doll (1/3 size, 57-60cm).
Some of the less expensive brands are:
Dollzone (Junkyspot only shows what they have in stock, not sure about Featherfall)
http://www.junkyspot.com/dollzoneside.html
http://www.featherfall.ca/store/index.php?main_page=index&language=en
Angel of Dream (also available at some US retailers and I think on Ebay)
http://www.aoddoll.net/
B&G (also available on Ebay)
http://hk.geocities.com/layla_mi/bgdoll/bgd.html
Abio Angels (large only)
http://www.divinitydoll.com/?page=Pages/Main
Angell Studio (but their website wasn't working when I tried it)
http://www.angell-studio.com/
Bobobie
http://www.bobobie.com/
Garden of Dolls
http://www.gardenofdolls.com/
And there are some inexpensive borderline BJD's (not allowed on all forums)
Obitsu 60cm(?) - Gretel and Haruka - not resin, not strung ball jointed but allowed on DoA because they were allowed on early DoA. Don't know if allowed on Resinality.
http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/album/561226468XYxvMb
http://www.parabox.jp/eng/a-60cm.html
http://www.junkyspot.com/obindex.html
Also new 47cm Obitsu - ditto about may not be allowed everywhere, not resin and not strung ball jointed.
(27cm and smaller plastic Obitsu and Volks are not BJD's and often not allowed on resin BJD forums).
Goodreau "American BJD" - in resin or vinyl, are strung ball joints but not allowed on DoA due to their American doll look and marketing. I do not know their status on this or other forums.
http://www.denverdoll.com/goodreaudoll.php
There are a lot of other BJD companies but most are more expensive.
Here are a couple of helpful databases:
Gigglegeek (doll company names on right)
http://www.gigglegeek.dk/bjd.htm
ABJD Standard Editions (some in immature mini now available with mature body, especially Dream of Doll DOC)

Dollzone can also be found at http://www.doll-zone.com and http://www.edendoll.com. i believe that in the first case, at least, they ship out of China, so although the selection is larger, it might be more expensive ordering from there.

I have many cheaper doll/bodies and I thought to share what I think about them. :3
Bobobie/Resinsoul is nice, though double jointed hands could be better. Very nice resin and good quality. And they come always sanded. <3
(68cm, SD, MSD)
B&G is okay too. Like any other doll without double joints.
(MSD)
Angel of dream is my fav of them! They pose amazingly and are really pretty. Also they are slim MSDs like minifee.
(SD, MSD)
Dollzones pose well too and I like them too. My second favourite of "cheaper ones".
(70cm, MSD)
Fantasy doll kicks some and is very stiff at posing. My least favourite of these.
(SD)
Also I have volks DD2 body and obitsu gretel and they pose well too. Since they donät have strings they pose very well.

This is great information! I for some reason always think of dollars per inch when I see a doll-LOL I have tried a ton of times to bond with Pocket Fairy sized dolls but just feel like it is a ton of money for the size of doll. I am so glad that there are new companies making quality affordable dolls;]

Just thought I'd post that I have a Dollzone Mo and he is my favourite of my two dolls, the other being a Lati Blue Rucas. He poses better, looks better and is easier to dress, I don't think there is anything wrong with the cheaper dolls if they are still good quality which my DZ boy is.

Impldoll is also a lower-cost doll company, with their SD sizes running less than $300. And believe me, their posing is absolutely amazing.

DollLove is quite cheap too. Their MSD sized dolls are $200 US, and I think that their SD sizes are about $350.

There's also the DoC boy and girls MSD sized sets.
You get both a boy and a girl MSD sized, nude, no wig and random acrylic eyes for a little less than $400.00
The shipping and waiting could be a killer though.

MissTink - Which one is 'Samuel'? Its obviously been renamed in English, as the Doll Family site only lists them by their original Chinese names, so I can't tell you which one it is. I have a DF MSD boy though, and I can tell you that the resin is really nice, they come fully sanded and they're lovely for the price of the doll.

Ooh, Samuel = Xiangyi, I've been wanting him next. There are quite a few on DOA who have Xiangyi, just many as Karie said go by the Chinese names.
I have Nuada though, I love my DF Boy. The resin is really nice and the sculpt is amazing. :)

08-10-2010, 07:16 AM
Oooooou~ That one. He's pretty, I've seen a couple of them on DOA, he and Linfeng are popular.
XD Yeah, you're going to confuse a lot of people calling it Samuel instead of by the sculpt name. I don't know why a few of the dealers re-name them, its really confusing for everyone else! XD
