View Full Version : How do you store/transport your dolls' clothing & accessories?

With the arrival of a new doll this week, I had to do some frantic reorganization of my first doll's clothing and accessories, so it occurred to me to ask what others do to see if I couldn't pick up some storage tips.

So, how do you store and organize your doll items? (this includes clothes, accessories, and supplies like eyes and tools, but primarily I'm interested in clothing and accessories.) When you travel with your dolls, how much do you bring along, and where do you keep it? I would love to see both descriptions and photos, so share whatever you can!

As I'm a college student, I travel with my doll bag (a standard DOD carry bag - I love how much you can fit in one bag XD) pretty often, so I have to make sure that everything fits in there. So my two dolls go in between the cushions, then outside of the cushions I slide thin cardboard boxes: one for each of my dolls' clothes (luckily they have very small wardrobes :P), and one for props and supplies like cleaning sponges, eyes, and hands. It works for now, but I'm very aware that I'm going to start running out of room in the clothing boxes soon. XD;

Hmm, well I don't travel with their clothes but I do have separate storage for their items.
Tools (elastic, putty, sponges, s-hooks, etc) are kept in my Craftsmen toolcabinet in our garage. I'm an avid sewer so my dolls have boxes of clothes. I use hatboxes and cardboard "suitcases" you can get an Joann's or Michaels. Their shoes stay in the Dollheart boxes they've come in and are kept in a cabinet in the doll room. Same with their eyes. The wigs are a mess. I've stuffed them all into a box that is too small. I swear those things breed.

I guess for traveling it might be advantageous to invest in another bag to carry their clothes once they get more stuff. I've always liked these: http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.jsp?CATID=cat323863&PRODID=xprd499250
They have all kinds of nifty pockets and compartments.

I'm another person that does not travel with a lot of doll stuff (not a lot of meetups near enough for me to attend :( ) but at home I use this beast (http://www.target.com/White-Sterilite-4-Drawer-Plastic-Wheels/dp/B0006O0EE2/sr=1-12/qid=1201813663/ref=sr_1_12/601-2957661-1812106?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Asterilite&page=1).

Its long enough to lay SD sized outfits flat, which is a must when they are made of materials you dont wan't creasing or cracking. And there is tons of room in there for eveything dollish.

I have no clue why the thing costs so much on the website. I got mine at a Targe store for less than $20 and that is the normal price. Very odd....

On the two occastions I was able to go to a meet, I just threw all my goodies I wanted to take in my messenger bag. Another idea is to get a few dolly garmet bags (http://www.dollmore.net/shop/step1.php?number=3066).

ive only taken my Beck, outside once.. the rest of the time hes stayed home...
but i know i will need to get a carrying bag for him.. i plan on taking with me on vacation.

Right now.. I have a small side desk..
thats just covered in wigs, clothes, eyes, toys,
theres a puki puki somewhere in that mess and some chairs..
xDD i really need to organize him.

I also have something similar to what Tonboko has.. but i just use it to store old junk my dolls dont need/use, so i can get it out of my face xD.

I did go to a meetup and someone had a carrier bag just full of clothes/wigs/everything seperated in ziplock or soemthing baggies
and they filled a carrier bag with just that stuff.

I usually carry my doll clothing and accessories in a small suitcase, probably roughly about as big as an A5 sized sheet of paper with a depth of about 15cm. Although I usually only use that for trips longer than 1 week or if I'm going to a doll meet or convention or something like that. Yeah my dolls have a fair amount of clothing and what not :oops

When I'm moving in and out of the dorms, the mini girls get placed one or two at a time in my DOD bags, and I cram in all the wigs and clothing that will fit. Eyes shoes and other things go in the outer pouches.

I don't go many places with Konna (Iowa is a little too big for folk to meet up often), and I use a combination of decorative wooden boxes, miniature "luggage trunks" and long plastic tubs to store his stuff. His clothes are kept in the large rosewood box I often use as a photography base, and the accessories are in the smaller containers...

I've never really had to travel with my boys, but I plan on using a small suitcase. I make lots of clothes so they'll need all the space I can give them!

we have a lot of dolls in this small apartment, thus alot of doll stuff and limited space to store it all. I went to CVS and picked up two of those plastic drawer units with the three drawers (the larger ones). We're now using the top two drawers for all the doll clothes and shoes and wigs and such, and the bottom 4 as storage for all our sewing fabric. But it works wonderfully to keep the doll stuff neat and organized. As for traveling. I only take what I know or think i'll need with me. My doll carriers have some pockets inside so i carry my stuff in that. anything else, i just take a small tote bag with me.

I store my misc doll clothes + dolly accessories in 2 drawers. Each of my boys also have a box where I keep 'their' clothes/eyes/wigs. And then I use 2 of the boxes (that the dolls arrived in) to store some more clothes..! >___<

I have little stackable plastic tubs for my dolls clothes. Some of them share a tub if their fashion sense is so similar that they share clothes a lot, but most have their own. Then I have a "communal stuff" tub with shoes, underwear, socks and pants that everyone shares. This works great in theory until I send a doll to visit a friend and never put clothes back once they return. *L*

I actually need to re-organize all of my doll items. Maybe I'll do that this weekend... I do love to organize! Especially with the arrivals of three little ones coming in soon (my MNF Chiwoo, Jonas, shipping today or tomorrow, my Elf Shy shipping on the fourth, and my BF WS Jerome, shipping in the upcoming weeks), the thought of re-organizing and trying to make room is so exciting.

For now, I keep all of my doll clothes in a small little trunk. I don't have too many clothes, as I had to sell most of them when I cleared out my previous collection -- so most of my boys only have one outfit each, and one pair of shoes/socks... But their collection will grow again. It's large enough I don't need to fold the clothes up, but can lay them out flat on top of each other, which is very nice.

Now my wigs... I have quite an extensive collection, because I'm a fur wig hoarder. I LOVE fur wigs. I keep all of those in a small hat box. I'm really curious how other people keep their wigs... I almost wish I could have them on display, but that would just be kind of weird. XD

All of my faceup supplies, eyes, and other odds and ends... I really need to get this figured out. Right now, I have my pastels in a wooden pastel-box on my desk, cans of MSC, Zouk Powder Spray on top of an entertainment center, wooden art box of paints, brushes, etc beside my bed, and everything else in a dresser drawer. There just isn't enough space...! ;__;

ArcaneMuse: Thanks very much for the link to the suitcase! That looks fantastic - I'll definitely keep it in mind in the future.

Tonboko: Ha, I just bought a set similar to that today, to store my fabrics in! I found mine via Staples, though. They're definitely very useful; if my doll collection grows any more, I might invest in one just for that. And the garment bag looks so cute and useful, too.

Digikym: I'm happy I'm not the only one who's obsessed with organizing and reorganizing! Having everything neatly organized always makes me more excited about doing stuff.
It would be so cute if you set up a dollie "dressing room" with wig stands for each of your fur wigs! X3 I only own a couple of wigs for my dolls (err, a grand total of three, with two of them being worn at the moment XD), but when stored, I like laying them out side-by-side in a box, each in a wig net to keep them tidy and grab-able.

I found it useful to wash out clear plastic boxes that hold larger amounts of spring-mix salad for sale in several of our local grocery stores. They're about 8" wide and 5" deep and maybe 10" long, I think. They're fairly sturdy, they stack well, the clear lids snap on pretty well, and you can see the contents. I try to keep things organized into different boxes for different categories. Drawbacks: They're somewhat crushable so they do pack easier in tight spaces such as hard-sided cases, but they won't stand up to major impact if you're trying to pad things that might break. I generally stack them together in some other carrier, such as fabric bags or backpacks, I don't let them run free in the entire car trunk for trips. It's also advisable to use big rubber bands as extra lid-holding insurance for trips.

For storage i started with a large hatbox but quickly out grew that. I have graduated to the sterilite plastic drawers. I have a total of seven drawers that i have divided everything into. Each to its own drawer-wigs, shoes, misc, and then 2 drawers for their clothes broken down by size (tinies and MSD/SD). When i need to carry them out i have a couple different bags that i use. I have 2 that i found at Ross in the luggage section that i can fit 2 SD's, my MSD and my tinies no problem. I have also been seen carrying several of them in a basket to conventions, though it does get a little heavy after a while and a bit awkward in crowds. If i just have my tinies i have a Hello Kitty make up bag that i carry them in.

I store my doll clothing and accessories in a drawer. When I travel with my dolls, I pack them in padded envelopes I made, called cozy sacks.

I use stackable plastic boxes with lid that attaches securely and a handle on top. I try to keep shoes/socks/undies/tights/jewelry in one box, clothing in one or two, and wigs in one. I usually only take a doll over a relative's house so a toss a few wigs and some shoes into a clothes box and bring that.

Currently for my crew I use clear small storage boxes for their clothes. Everyone has their own box. Shoes are kept in the lost boys' school trunks, Wigs are in a separate box, and jewelery is hidden in their chaise lounge. For traveling to meets and such I use a largeish picnic basket. It's big enough for 4 minis, or any combination of mini and tiny. It has a hard lid and is solid so nothing can bash into them. I lined it with my dolls pillows so it's also nice and sqooshy inside for them. ^_^ I recently aquired a second basket type thing for just the tinys. It still needs some pillow outfitting though.

Hmm, it's really interesting to hear people's different methods for storage and travel! :D

For storage, my dolls have pretty much taken over my room with their damn stuff, heh. :doh They have four drawers in one of my desks that are for their clothes -- all of which is carefully sorted, ie casual pants, leather pants, shorts, long-sleeved shirts, short-sleeved shirts, SD10 clothes, Unoa clothes, tinies clothes, etc, etc. :oops Then there's a drawer for wigs and shoes, and another drawer for accessories, spare parts, eyes and tolls. These are divided into various boxes within the drawer to make storage and access easier; for example there's a small box for general toys/accessories, a box for hair stuff (brushes, wig sprays, conditioner) and another box for eyes and body parts, which has the little eye boxes and spare parts boxes stacked up inside it.

On top of that the back half of one desk is entirely taken up with furniture and other spare accessories and such. (Some of their furniture has drawers which I also use for storing various accessories.) And under the desk is pretty much all their junk that won't fit elsewhere. I also store some of the larger furniture out in the main room because there's no room for it in my bedroom. >_>; They really have taken over... :lol

When travelling, I pack the dolls themselves in a Volks carrying case that I have, but I'm usually travelling with multiple dolls so I tend to cram as many of them in there as possible. So clothes, shoes, accessories etc tend to go in my check-in luggage. The dolls themselves are to me more important to get in as carry-on, so anything else just gets shoved in my suitcases, usually rather haphazardly. :damnit

That's if I'm actually travelling overseas, though. If I'm just going out for meets or the like, I just put a couple of dolls in the carrying case and then pack their clothes, shoes, accessories or whatever in the pockets. :) The tinies sometimes even get taken in my handbag (with their heads wrapped) as it's easier!

Gack.. everyone has drawers or boxes! I have little storage space so his stuff is put in any spare space I can find in my room - spare boxes, shelves, spare drawers, etc. I need to organise his stuff more. *_*

I have a drawer that I store all my random items and shoes in, and the outfits I buy pretty much stay organized in the boxes I buy them in.

A lot of my MSD's accessories are littered about in his room, like his backpack and plushies~

I have a large chest of drawers, and one drawer is devoted entirely to dolly things. It was really well organized in the beginning, with the shoes all lined up and the clothes neatly folded. But lately it has gotten pretty messy. D:
The wigs and other props are in boxes at the top of my bookshelf.

I suck at storage. Everything I own ends up in a box-- books, magazines, electronics equipment, miniature wargaming figures, hobby supplies... even my dolls' stuff. :wahwah I don't travel with my girls often, but when I go to see my sister Osaka in Virginia Beach everyone goes back into the boxes what they were shipped in. Their clothes and accessories are currently packed away rather neatly in 3-4 other boxes. I decide what I want to take with them, and rearrange as needed.

Wotan tells no lies...he is the king of boxes.

Here at home, my doll clothes and accessories generally live in the corner of my bedroom. I have wee chests of drawers, miniature trunks, and some pretty boxes that hold my dolls' clothes, split up by who they belong to. I try to keep the personal accessories and props in the same boxes. If there's too much overflow of props, then I have four shelves set up as "bunks" and store them in there, on the miniature shelves I put together in some of the extra peg holes.

For traveling, I pick out what outfits and shoes I want to take, and put them in whatever carrier bag I have. I'm currently using a pink tote that looks a bit like a bowling ball bag. It holds one doll and pillows in an seated position very comfortably, and there's still plenty of room for clothes and stuff. There's even a zippered pocket for jewelry and the like.

Sadly, as for the dolls themselves, they ride around in their boxes. XD I really need to invest in more carriers.

My dolls sit on their chairs and couches on a shelf in my sewing room. I hang their outfits up on hangers and then hang those up on people sized hangers in various spots in the room ( this is getting a little unwieldy, I'm trying to find a better, more organized space for their wardrobe). Their shoes are in shallow drawers in a plastic storage unit and some of their jewelry lives in those drawers too. I think I want to get a real jewelry box to store their jewelry, as it is accumulating ( and I will need the drawer space for more shoes - I love doll shoes!). The wigs live in a deep drawer of a plastic storage unit (see a theme here?) stored in wig nets and then in plastic bags. I keep their eye putty and cleaning supplies in here too.
To carry them around, I used my rolling tapestry sewing machine case. The four of them easily fit inside (sitting on each others laps) and there is room left over for supplies. I want to make a rigid support to set inside the case. That way I can sit them on top of it and pull them around at conventions (those 60cm resins get heavy after a couple hours!).

Latley Ive been designing carry-cases for my little guys. I just got my first msd sized one, its been much easier to figure out designs for that size than the SD sized fellows. I wish I had a scan of the drawings, Im really excited for the one Ive decided to finalize and make!

Otherwise, I use a small drawers.

you see I would prefer to take all my'n around in a normal back-pack when I go to cons, and meets. I take them in just a regular bag, due to the fact that dollfies often get targeted for theft, and a "top line" bag with the company's name on them are the first to get seen and wanted!!! Also I had always thought that the bags with there name, on them are a little to show offie....
What I do is just use a normal back pack, that have been stuffed with small pillows, or just the stuffing.....
I have found out that it keeps them safe, and out of harms way.....
Also you can put all your goodies throughout the day in there as well,
If you feeling extra cautious you can normally put a little lock or whatever to keep peering eyes, and sticky fingers out of your bag!!!

When I travel with one of the crew, I put them in my blue courier bag. I also have a double-sided zip-up case that was made for make-up and such that I pack their clothes and jewelry and such in, and that fits perfectly in the courier bag with one SD-sized doll. It's a little like they have their own suitcase. ^_^

Here at home, the dolls themselves stay out, posed in little groups all around the house. Spare eyes are kept in a little three-drawer box, their jewelry is in a 1/3-scale Japanese stair-step cabinet, extra wigs are in a large, bamboo box, and their clothes are kept in a pair of trunks and a couple of clear "flip-top" Rubbermaid boxes. The shoes are in a Rubbermaid shoebox, and props are stored in larger plastic storage bins in my upstairs closet. Hideo and Nightengale's swan-feather wings are in a box of their own up there.

I try to keep everything neat and organized. This stuff is all a little too pricey to leave laying around where it can get rumpled or used as a cat toy. :oops

Hee.. my boys' stuff isn't really that organized. I have all of their clothes, shoes, wigs, accessories and etc in one of those tupperware containers with the handle and the little lift-out compartment thing.. I don't think anyone knows what I'm talking about. XD But I must say, I wouldn't reccommend it to anyone else.. I still can't find lots of stuff. Including Karrian's glasses. >.>;

I have a big prop wardrobe with shelves, drawers and hangers to store my doll clothes. It was originally from an american girl doll, but it's the perfect size. It's about two feet tall, and I have it opened up in a corner of my room. I also have a few small trunks from the craft store for keeping stuff in. I try to keep things doll sized.
As for travel, I've yet to get a consistent method of carrying everything. I really need a doll carrier that can fit two 60cm dolls, or a perfectly sized suitcase. The one I last tried using was too short, and I had to bend their knees to fit. As for their clothing and accessories, I just keep them in bags or compartments in the suitcase. I don't bring much to meets and conventions. Just stuff I'm trying to swap or sell.

I'm horrible about storing clothes/accessories/wigs/etc ^^; I have three drawers in my computer desk, the Art Shit drawer, the Party Drawer (chock full of Skittles, Twizzlers, gummy bears, and banana bread muffins mmmm), and the Dolly Drawer. I just have tupperware to separate wigs from eyes and whatnot. It's mostly full of stuff that I don't use regularly and has all the customizing materials I need. For clothes/accessories, I have a Hello Kitty purse and a Hot Topic bag XD There's not much room in my dorm for anything big and/or permanent to store doll things though.

As for transporting my dolls, if it's just Madi I have a little cosmetic bag that I keep her in. It's perfect for her size and I can fit in an outfit or two and plenty of cushioning. I haven't found a bag that works for Natalie that isn't insanely huge, but I have a giant duffel bag that can fit both my BJDs and all of my Pullips comfortably, it's perfect for meet ups. I look really ridiculous when I go to a small meet up at a restaurant or something, but well it's not like I don't have a ton of dolls in that bag *shrug* I'm gonna get looks anyway XD

For little day excursions i have a smallishsuitcase with wheels. I can fit my 2 60cm girls in there comfy standing up and secure them down with the straps that keep your clothes still, dolly seatbelts!Normally cover them with a bit of fabric or a blanket.. ontop and underneath. a zip up makeup case (large one) is good for clothes and shoes. :) If I am just taking a tiny out, i put her in her box, in a backpack, or if I take out Miral, normally wrap her in a knitted dolly blanket and put her in a sitting position in my back pack.

Hmm let's see..I have a pretty little wooden box where I keep their eyes and jewelry, and a small closet, with the first two drawers for wigs, the second two for clothes and the last for shoes. My guys have so many clothes though(..*is always sewing)that those two drawers only contain their regular clothing, I have two bags with other stuff they don't wear all that often ^^;;

I have stackable plastic containers I put my guys' clothes and accessories in. The accessories are in a small bag in one of the containers. Because they stack and have lids, it's really easy to stick them anywhere and then pull them out quickly. ^^ If you fold the clothes they can store a lot as well; I currently have all my clothes in just one of them.

While traveling I normally stick the clothes I want to bring in a plastic ziplock bag and let out the air, so it's thin and can slip into tiny places.

Scrapbooking totes! I have several of those (for my scrapping hobby which eats money just as quickly as the dolls do). Never thought about using them for the dolls.
but at home I use this beast (http://www.target.com/White-Sterilite-4-Drawer-Plastic-Wheels/dp/B0006O0EE2/sr=1-12/qid=1201813663/ref=sr_1_12/601-2957661-1812106?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Asterilite&page=1).
I have two drawer units that are similar to that. For my crew's clothes, shoes & wigs I have a large 3 drawer unit (wider than the one in the link). for other things (toys, props, eyes, extra heads, hands and the like) in a skinnier unit with 4 drawers. XDD and the rest of my apartment is a complete and utter mess.. :|

i keep all my doll's clothes, shoes, wigs, props. and etc. in separate baggies and stored in a small vintage suitcase. i loves it. theres pouches on the sides for bits of fabric and my sewing neccessities in case i need to do any touchups on clothes. and its all nice and padded to boot so the breakable things i have shouldn't get messed up. =3

I'm very lucky to have a huge studio that houses my dollies and other creative items. Each dollie has her own bed and chest of drawers. Small things like jewelry and leggings and undies go in the chest of drawers. They have a separate chest for their shoes and a wardrobe to hang SD clothing and various vintage wicker colored sewing baskets house the tiny clothes and MSD clothes as there are too many to hang. My wigs each have a shallow flat plastic container. Each container contains a size for 8/9, 7/8, 6/7 and 5/6. All the smaller sizes under that are in one container together.

It helps to be organized if you have multiple size dollies.

I burn a lot (and I mean A LOT) of incense, so I store all of my dolls' clothing, wigs, and shoes in ziplock bags in sterilite tubs. I don't think there are many people that would object to an item of clothing they bought from me smelling of Nag Champa, but you can never be too careful. :p

Well my footstool has some space inside it, so my boys took over it as their personal wardrobe. It's big eough to fit all their clothes, wigs and accessories as well as the fabrics I plan to use for doll clothes.

I don't have an established pattern when going out with them. Clothes sometimes go into the Dollshe bag along with the boys, sometimes I carry them in my bag with the camera....I have yet to find the perfect way^^

When traveling with my dolls I have found my rollybag essential. Joann's, the fabric shop I love to frequent just put these Yarn rolly bags on clearance for $25 dollars!! The bag can fit two SDs in sitting position and then four minis sit in their lap along with my one tiny. It is a comfy fit! The twins travel in a seperate bag that I picked up at Borders bookstore (again in the clearance) and to hold any clothes and whatnot the rolly bag came with an extra roll up pouch for knitting needles and such.

At the home base my extra doll clothes and ones I'm working on have a drawer in the craft room, as well as a doll sized hope chest where we put all the frilly stuff. I'm still working on a place to keep all their small jewelry accessories, but all in due time.

Check out those rolly bags if you have a Joanns near you. That thing is awesome!

Hi.

My bjd things is in two old shoeboxes, one for the minifee size and a bigger box for the SD size - then there is the for sale clothes, they are in a drawer until I ship them off.

I could use a better system too :p

I transport them with a rolling scrapbooking cart I got at Tuesday Morning...I think it's by Crop N Style. It's about 1 ft x 1 ft, and I can fit a ton of dolls in there. It's padded/sturdy, with a collapsible handle like one of those hard plastic rolling carts, and it has huge pockets on the side. I love it!

I don't really travel with my BJDs much because they are too heavy and such.
I wouldn't even consider it as a travel.. but when I meet with my BJD owner friends, I would bring about 2 sets of clothing for each doll. (3 sets at max)
And because I only have big BJDs at the time, I don't bring more than 2 with me.
Short meet-ups don't really need extra clothes or accessories too much..
It's almost better not to bring them because what if you lose them??!?!?!!!?

As for storing BJD clothes and stuff, I have a drawer (cheap. plastic one I bought at walmart. It has 3 divisions.) that I keep their stuff in.
Each division of the drawer is devoted to each BJDs.
I recently reorganized it and I realized I have clothes and things I don't use anymore that are in great conditions..
So whenever I get a chance to take pictures, I'll probably sell them and buy my BJDs some new wardrobe :D

I usually just store my dolls' clothes, props and such in an empty drawer in my dresser. Its divided up according to my girls' clothes and my boys' clothes, shoes and then just whatever else there is.

When transporting my dolls, I usually just keep them in their boxes and their clothes, etc in either a small handbag or something like that. Usually depending on how many dolls I'm taking and how many outfits I'm taking for each.

At home, my dolls sit around my sewing area with new outfits awaiting photos or awaiting new outfits.
If I take them anywhere, I recently invested in a very large suitcase with a pull-up handle and wheels. The front completely zips open. I purchased 2 inch. foam from Joann's and have lined it (i need to make muslin covers for the foam), sides, top & bottom. I can put all my dolls in standing up. I plan to get some more 1 inch foam to make dividers and a separation for having two layers. Nude I can get 3 to 4 in a layer, so I've plenty of room for all my kids.
I have a good sized tool box for wig and hair supply storage. I try to keep all the wigs not in use in hair nets to keep the fliers down. I keep the combs and brushes in there, too. I have a makeup box for 60cm clothing. The tray it came with for jewelry is perfect for shoe storage, so some of my shoes are in there. I also have another tool box for taking outfits with that gives me plenty of room plus places for clips and stuff.
I usually choose who's going and then decide what clothes to take with.
At home, I've got three different sets of stacking drawers behind my sewing area that are partly for sewing supplies, partly for action figure gear and then I've a drawer each for shoes and eyes.
I really need to get a bigger toolbox type unit for clothes and shoes. Maybe down the road. I'd like to get more shelving so all my accessories (motorcycles, horses, chairs, dragons, etc.) can have a home while waiting to be good picture props.
I have a really small house and storage is always challenging at best. Because I sew, so I have bunches of bins for fabrics, books, laces, trims, buttons, etc. I added a file cabinet recently to hold files for my patterns (now, I just need one of those days when I can get a daughter to help me file everything). :)

I have a bag for the zip lock & plastic envelopes with clothes and boxes for the wigs, shoes and eyes. I keep a few special outfits in the doll boxes. I have a few large tins for only fabric so far, but I think i will have to do something different for the clothes soon.

I'll probably get some ideas from this thread. :-)

When my girls come with me on the bus I put my Delfs in a Karrimore. My SDF doesn't fit though so I bought a doll bag from dollmore. I'll be testing it out tomorrow.

for the tinies, I have a little carrying case from rubyredgalleria for my msd size dolls I use a large wooden chest that was handmade for dolls such as this from someone on ebay don't remember who... Also my tinies have two little suitcases of their own and they borrow a backpack from my msd's for their dollies, their toiletries and whatever else they want to bring such as skateboards, special blankets etc. I feel they can help out when we get to a hotel! lol!:lol:lol:lol

I use a small rolling suitcase to transport my doll. It is kind of big but it's a lot easier to roll the doll in the suitcase behind me than it is to carry a long bag on my shoulder. I can also take a lot of "stuff" with me so it's nice.

As for storage, I used to use a simple 100-yen basket but have upgraded to a larger box (stackable cloth-covered foldable boxes which fit in a small bookshelf). I also keep all my clothes, wigs and other items in plastic bags/boxes (not sealed) so that I can easily take the items with me if I'm taking the doll(s) out. I always keep those little plastic bags the clothes come in and the original tissue paper for wigs or shoes or whatever and use them for storage. :heart

I've recently started reorganizing my dolls' things. I used to keep them in little plastic boxes (my old roommate worked for a while at a plant that packaged candy, and she brought them home free). The little boxes worked fine for awhile, but as I got more dolls, their stuff really outgrew them, and I worried that their clothes were getting crunched up. So, I got some larger organizer boxes in different colors, got a little shelf to keep them on and put their clothes there instead. Probably as they end up with more and more stuff, I'll subdivide it further. If I want to keep a full outfit together, I'll usually put it in a plastic baggy. I don't bring a lot of items with me when I'm taking my dolls somewhere--I'll usually change their clothes before hand and just take a comb for their wigs.

I still have the original doll boxes, so I keep all the dolls' things in them. The dolls themselves are usually sitting on my computer table :) Only wonder what is going to happen when my dolls have too many things and I won't be able to put everything in those two boxes... but hope this will be solved when it comes to time :)

I carry mine in an old yoga bag and wrap the body in a long scarf, padding the area around him with extra scarves so he doesn't move around. Easier than lugging a doll box around.

As her collection grows, of course the transport method will change, but for now I have everything inside a small tupperware tote (complete with handle!). It fits half a dozen outfits, 2 pairs of boots, 2 pairs of shoes, her wig, the brushes, and her eyeballs. :)

When i do carry my dolls around i usually wrap them in their pillows them put them in their boxes... It makes it so much easier and i do not have to spend extra money for a bag or anything. All their clothing and accessories are put into baggies and stored in the bottom ofthe boxes, so it is easy for me to access them.

Well since I haven't gotten my first doll(s) yet, I can't really tell you how I travel with them or what I use but I do have this idea for clothes/shoes storage for when I do finally get my boy and girl home.

I have this slight obsession with using wooden wine crates to create storage for different items. So far I used them as book cases and art supply storage. Right now, I'm using them as DVD storage.

What I would love to do would be to design a doll clothing closet out of a couple of wine crates, complete with latching door. It would be pretty simple I think, to do and I can have all of the clothes that I make and/or buy hanging up all nice and organized. It's something to do while I try to save up.

I plan on making a carrier for Sorin, but I sewed a sleeping bag for my puki, Kit. It buttons closed. It's just a prototype, I have some ideas to improve it so I'm going to make another.

As for the extra clothes and stuff, Sorin's goes in his box and Kitya's stuff goes in a camera case type thing or in her puki box.

I have a tower of Target's "Itso" modular storage. I say "tower" because it's about my height. They're all organized and full of all of my dolls outfits. :)

If you like modular storage, get thee to target! The itso products are all really nice and convenient!

Well I store most of my dolly stuff in a three draw plastic draws. I have all my minis clothing in one draw and all my sd clothes in the next. I keep there wigs in the next draw all each. I put all there shoes and other stuffs in a mini plastic tote.

As far as travels goes with my dolls whether it be a con of meetup. I carry my dolls in a big tote bag with a towel on top of them and face shields for everyone.

I hope this helps anyone

For now I used various sizes of Really Useful Boxes to store stuff in. The really small ones are great for eyes, panties, and the such. The deep pencil case sized one is good for 1:6 and MSD clothing.

I will need better storage, but for now these are good things to store things away from cigarette smoke.

Tian's wardrobe lives in an old briefcase I got from a thrift store. His wig collection lives in an old makeup box, same source. Accessories are in his own personal jewelry box, which he's starting to outgrow... >.> Oh, and eyes live in one of those mini-lunchboxes. Makes everything nice and easily portable for when there are meets.

The boys themselves have one actual doll carrier (usually for Shaial) and I just bought a suitcase on wheels from the thrift store to transport the rest of them.

The only thing that doesn't have a nice convenient box-with-handle is the shoe collection. >.> I need another briefcase-esque thing...

All of my guys' clothes are piled in a straw box. 8) Their shoes are kind of everywhere... but generally are in a magazine... holder thing. Accessories and jewlery and the like are in the little drawers for the table they're all sat on. And all of those things are in my extended walk-in storage... room closet thing, ahaha, kept well out of light. :]b

I have like 5 doll carriers. 9u6b

Most of the boys' clothes are in cheap wooden jewelry boxes purchased at various craft stores. They have a few things like coats and cloaks that are lying in a heap on one of the boxes. The hubby says he'll make me a closet this spring.
I have a straw basket with a lid for their hats, beanies, turbans and head scarves. Shoes, sandals and boots are in a heap on the floor.

When we travel, I have a 70cm DZ carrying case that I can get the 2 mini's (DZ Megi 2 & AoD Wang Zi), the B&G Afra, Lati Aida, Buddydoll Julian, DZ fox and Elly, the FLCL action doll into. I carry the EID and DZ Yuu in my arms.

However I am getting another EID and a Unidoll so I think another case is in my future...:doh

My dolls' accessories and clothes are scattered around in storage boxes, with most of the clothes in one spot, wigs in another, eyes in a smaller box elsewhere, etc.

Travel:
By CAR--Doll Carrier with face-protectors.
By AIR--Soft padded sacks, like close-able dolly sleeping bags, face-protectors, and carry-on bag that will fit below the seats (doll in sitting position, if large-sized). I don't want overhead because others jam bags in there and bags will shift. Checked luggage can be lost. I always travel so I can keep an eye on my dolls. I do not take them out to travel--they can be damaged too easily that way.

Storage:
DOLLS-- usually in stands or sitting on shelf, but I worry about them falling during earthquakes (I live in SoCal), so this may not be all that safe. I'm thinking of rigging up some sort of tether to keep them from falling off the shelf as I prefer to see my dolls, not keep them stored away in boxes.
FURNITURE--On shelf--dolls sitting on chairs and couches, mostly.
CLOTHING--I keep the outfits individually in large zip-locked bags in large plastic storage bins. Currently, one for the girls, one for the boys.
WIGS--In baggies or original plastic bags with nets and tissue-paper forms in large plastic storage bins. Currently, one for girls wigs and one for boys... although they often share, so this system works mostly so I don't have one HUGE bin of wigs to paw through.
PROPS--No good system so far.
ACCESSORIES--No good system so far.
TOOLS--Same (just trying to keep in one place).
EYES--As above... currently all in their boxes and wrappings in a giant zip-lock bag.

I store Kit's things at home in a set of those plastic chest of drawers that you can get at discount stores. I keep things separated by what they are. Wigs are all in one drawer; shoes in one or two just for shoes; etc. Small items like jewelry, accessories, bjd food, etc. go in the smaller drawers you can buy. Usually these drawers come on casters and they are stackable which makes it easy to add on to and also very easy to move from one place to another.

For travel, I have a regular doll carrier if I am traveling locally. But if I am traveling by air or rail or need more than just a couple of clothing changes, I use a regular carry-on bag that I have for airtravel. I take as many clothes/accessories as I think Kit will need and everthing goes into the one carry-on bag. I never put Kit or any of his items in checked baggage. They are irreplaceable and besides, Kit likes to look out the window when we fly.

Well for now I have my boys stuff (SD 10) In a few drawers in my room (I have a bed and headboard that has drawers) I have a drawer for my paints and pastels, gloss, thinners, eyes and putty, And another one for clothes, shoes wigs and my ZM spray and Mr. Color thinner (the bigger ones) and a shoebox inside a drawer that has my tools My carving knife, head puller, eyelash tweezers, weathering sponge, magic eraser. and hemostats (sorry I forgot the dolly word for them, but thats what we call them in the dental office)
When I go out with my boy I just lay him in his carrier and when we get out of the apt. complex I take him out again, so I don't really use face protectors :oops

I've only traveled once with a doll and it wasn't very pleasant. Hahaha...the x-ray techs were kinda wtf when they scanned my bag and I had to step aside to get it searched. I keep most of my doll stuff in this under-the-bed container I got from the container store. It's not going to hold my doll stuff for long. *koff* Getting more and more stuff and it's rather full right now.

I don't travel with my dolls (yet). For storage, I bought a small cabinet and some padded storage boxes at Target. They're perfect for storing floating heads and wigs. I have spacial chest of drawers for my dollfie stuff (and sewing stuff).
On top some of my dolls sit and have something as a room.
And in the drawers I keep their shoes, wigs and outfits. Everything in it's original packings, or if I don't have it in sealed plastic bags.
Also all my outfits for sale which I sew are in special sealed bags in separate box :)

As for traveling, I usually keep everything in dollfie carriers. I have one old-style suitcase I got in Japan I also carry my dollfies and their stuff in.
They usually travel in clothe, but wigs are kept in their original bags, and I take them out at the destination point ;)

I havent done much traveling with my dolls yet, but with Resinsoul they give you a cool faux leather carrying case so I just tuck their clothing, wig and with Kitiblu her little stuffed panda in the bottom of the case and then wrap them in their pillow and ready to go. When I had them at the anime convention I bought a baset to carry them both in. I plan on making a bag though so that I can carry both with my, to cumbersome to carry 2 carrying cases around. And my other hooved girl that I should be receiving this week is not coming with a carrying case so I'll have to figure something out with her.
