I want to know where I can get them for a good price?
Also I would want to carry them with me, would the 60cm be to bulky/heavy to carry comferably?
I think I would want to get the mini's but are harder to find

In the second message here I have links to most of the less expensive BJD companies. Most include minis and large dolls. Minis are easier to carry around. Personally I like mature minis (I think most of the less expensive ones are mature though Bobobie does offer an immature version and a mature version).

The prices for specific dolls don't vary much but if you are in the US you can save on shipping if you can find the one you want at a North American retailer.

That's a great list BTW Carolyn!
I'd also recomend you take a gander at this into to BJD's. It answers all the newbie questions that I'm sure you're wanting to know.

Checking out the BJD_WTF (http://bjd_wtf.livejournal.com) might be a good idea too.

As far as getting a good price you should be scouring ebay everyday and the marketplace. Frequently things come up in peoples lives and they need money quickly and you can score a great deal on a doll you will love. That is how I got my SD16 Amelia for under a thousand dollars!

True - pretty much the only place you will ever get a bargain is at resale. I have never seen a doll manufacturer have a sale - instead they might give away something extra occasionally like an extra fur wig or enter you into a lottery for a head, etc. sometimes you have to buy much more than one doll to get the extra! And the US vendors who carry some of the dolls don't undercut the manufacturer (they might not even have enough profit built in to do so).
The lower price BJD's I listed at the link above are mostly made in China where labor and materials cost a lot less. Most other BJD's are made in Korea and cost high $200's to $500 for minis.

I carry around my SD kids a lot, and yes my arm gets really tired after awhile, but I enjoy having them around so it doesn't bother me too much.
I carry my MSD sometimes and she's so much lighter compared to the big guys, she doesn't bother my arm at all, but I do still prefer the feel of the SDs.

I moved my post about Low Priced mini/large BJD's and links to databases of others here:

My post was originally in a thread that got moved to Sewing. Sewing may be inaccessible if it is not one of your User Groups or if you don't have full forum access yet. But I moved my info to General Discussion (hope it can stay there)

I'm getting a doll ( actually, buying the head and body separately ) from another forum's marketplace. It definitely pays off to keep your eyes on the marketplace.
Sometimes when a new mold or new body comes out, people upgrade their dolls and sell off the parts they are replacing.
It's always fun to see how people think up ways to carry their dolls.
One girl made a coffin case/ backpack to carry her sd's around in.

Actually, sometimes manufacturers do have sales--I got my Soom Rian in a basic kit sale for $390 two years back. They've had another sale since then too. Notdoll Lab also had a sale a month or so back (as usual, I didn't have the money at the time) and Bobobie had a Christmas special going on their Charisma. So it does happen--but you have to keep your eyes open for them.
Still, I agree that the easiest way to get a good deal is the secondary market--prices seem to be very good for buyers right now.

Definitely, the marketplaces here and on DOA are the best way to get a great deal. Watch very carefully, because incredible deals go very swiftly, but you can really get amazing dolls that way. I've snatched up quite a few beauties from people who needed payment immediately. (So have your money ready!)

Sometimes you can actually get a good deal on Ebay too. Sometimes people who aren't on DoA don't realize the resale prices they could get for some dolls.
BTW - don't buy from Laura's Dream Doll (LDDoll) - it is believed that they sell copies of other company's dolls, including a Lati blue boy lookalike. I believe they are banned on DoA.

Just because the doll isn't available right now doesn't mean that it won't be available later. Just keep looking if you have specific doll in mind.
