This year was filled with a lot of new dolls and what seemed to be a huge wave of new doll companies and expansion of smaller companies. So, what doll
or dolls were your favorite for the year? It doesn't have to be a doll you bought. Please try and include a link.

I would have never even known of his existence if I hadn't read a post of someone talking about how ugly he was on another forum. He'll be my first doll purchase of the new year.

It's funny how the boys won out with me this year. I love the girls but I'm a huge fan of realistic molds and the boys seem to have a stellar year in that category.

So who is your pick for 2007?

The Minimee Project; all of them.

Minimees are a huge step for the BJD world; what once we could only customize so far, we can now have sculpted completely from scratch. Characters with inhuman characteristics can now be born in doll form, and we don't have to settle for 'close' anymore. It's a really amazing concept!

Dim Lloyd. Amakusa Shiro.

I like pouty dolls and Asian looking dolls, so Lloyd just kills me. He sold out real fast so I guess I'm not the only one.

Amakusa Shiro. I'm not sold on the head mold but the story he's based on and his costume are a killer.

Amakusa Shiro is a SD13 from Volks XD There's a page on him in Cassiel's database (http://www.angelden.net/volks/sd13/amakusa.php).

Call me biased, but the new MSD FCS headsculpts totally won me over this year. Especially the F-18, hehehe :p

But in other sizes, it's Yo-SD Lin and Honey DELF Pudding for tinies aaaand... I can't think of a winning bigger doll :oops my taste in bigger dolls goes to the older ones.

For me, it's a toss-up between the MiniFee Elf Shiwoos, which are entirely too cute, and my Amakusa... who really was the first Volks sculpt to get a " love at first sight" sort of reaction from me.

I'm happy to have ended up with both in my collection, so 2007 was definitely a good year. ^_^

Hmm... Definitely going with my Amakusa. I saw him and I just had to have him. And Iplehouse's Gentle Soo Ri... that boy has been a long-time coming!

There were some great moulds this year. I like the suggestions so far : - )

I've developed a sudden obsession with Yo-SDs, so most of the releases here. The stand out is Puff/Papi (released March '07 according to Where Angels Lie (http://www.angelden.net/volks/yosd/puff.php) ).

LUTS had some great stuff, like the Zuzu DELFs.

I throw in another vote for Batchix's Machina, too. :D And Unidoll Jace!

Looking back, this year was pretty fantastic :)

I think, out of all the dolls that blew my socks off this year, the real standouts for me personally were:

Iplehouse Barron--He's just such a serious, mature-looking man.

Souldoll Hye--A serious girl, and such a lovely, delicate body. ^o^

Souldoll Jinwoo--Oh, the agony that he was only available for such a short time. Beautiful and manly.

Soom Spinel--A very late entry in the year, but oh my gawd...he leaped to the top of my list.

How could I forget MSdoll? I love the scuplts they've discontinued the most. I definitely have to keep a better eye on them.


Supia's Rosy was the most beautiful new sculpt I have seen.

Of course I agree with you about Supia's Rosy. She's the most gorgeous girl who came out in 2007 in my opinion.

My personal favourites were Domuya Fin and Soom Sabik, Fin would be my prize winner for the year simply because of her sculpting and price. I also liked the new Unoa Zeros and wish I could have got one. Limhwa half elf came out in 2007 didn't she? Gosh, there were so many nice dolls, it was hard to keep up with them all.

Favorite dolls of '07? Hmmm... I'd have to say Volks Cristal and Elena hands down! Loved them so much that they both came to stay. And, apart from her outfit, Renee (Super Dollfie Cute) had a cute face.

Agreed on Cristal and Elena. I've never been a huge fan of Volks heads (especially the standard heads), so Elena was a pleasant surprise. And Cristal... :heart

Kudos to the appearance of the Manly Men bodies. It's nice to have some more choices in how dolls look; now, if Dollstown would just get the damn Dollstown 15 girl released, Unidoll would make the rumored Real girl, and SOOM's Dia is of the same body type as Spinel, I'll be a happy happy boy.

Even with the abrupt removal from the site, I've got to add Souldoll Zii. It kills me that they took him down. Lee Jun Ki's a nice doll, but he's still a pale substitute for Zii. Maybe I'll just send all the Zii pictures I saved to DIM for a Minimee... :p;)

I'm very happy with the appearance of the Manly bodies, as well. After young boys for so many years it's refreshing to see a change.

I'm with you on Dollstown. I've waited to buy Torre's Elysia because there are no bodies available.

Volks Amakusa Shiro, Elena and SDC Renee. And probably a couple of others, but those are the three that I'm currently most in love with.

Lets see.... the dolls that stood out in 2007 to me were: Unoa Zero, Volks SDC Renee, Fairyland PukiPuki, Limhwa Mano, and the SD17 body. (I ended up with three of the five! And if I had any spare money for a PukiPuki, it'd be four out of five!)

Edit: Oh and Peroth of course! There were quite a few nice artist's heads produced in 2007 if I recall correctly. :)

Of doll I personally got to own this year that came out. Volks Yo SD Puff is the top of my list, followed by the re-release of the migidoll Ryu head.

For the dolls I don't own, (yet), the pukipukis have amazing bodies. I'm really impressed by their poseability and how well the joints look. And Minoruworld junior minoru. I have big plans for that little guy. ^_^ But there were so many pretty pretty dolls this year.

There were so many nice dolls this year! My favorites are Luts Dion(duh, since I have one xD), Unoa Zero, Choya, Glorydoll Louis&Lucy, Limwha HalfElf, Sabik for the 'OMG 80 cm doll!' wow factor, Volks Yugiri, Christal, Ayumu and Suigintou.

I was completely taken with the new Pipos animal-headed tinies, the Baha and the Curo--I don't have either yet, but I suspect it's only a matter of time.

In a lesser sense I'm enjoying the flood of imitators that Pipos has unleashed, too! Particularly Alice Cherry Blossom, the little pig. :)

Baha? -- were the Piposdoll Bahas released in '07? I think? Darn if I cannot remember >_<;; Anyway, previous animal molds bothered me a little, but these guys are adorable! Hopefully Piposdoll will be able to re-release the black baha one day. ^_^

As far as girls go, SDC Renee was the only one created this year that I almost bought, but the new MSD F18 head is gorgeous. I would also have to say that Limhwa Mano was ueber hot and SD Dion (the Art Delf version) was breathtaking.

Alittle biased here, but definitely Amakusa Shiro and Reisner. Both very masculine and hot hot hot >_>
Though like all the other volks heads, they all took a little time to grow on me, so when the owner pics came out both of them were pretty much love at 'tenth' sight.

As for the latecomers, Suigintou is probably my favourite girl this year. Which might explain the skyrocketing prices on YJ! right now XD

For me it was Volks Reisner, hands down. Not just the headmold (which I loooove absolutely to bits!) but also the fantastic body that I absolutely cannot get enough of. He still gets molested on a daily basis here. :p

Also, the Unoa Zeroes, as I adoooore Araki's sculpts of anything, and Unoas in 60cm size is so full of win. (If he does 60cm boys I am so dead. :damnit) They're just so beautifully sculpted, like all of his dolls -- I always feel like Unoas are works of art.

And, the Pipos Curo as I just love bunnies! Bunnies in resin is so full of perfect and win and awesome.

Oh and I must throw in a vote for the Volks F-33 as well. It may not be popular but boy I love that face! He's one of the few must-get dolls that's left on my shrinking wishlist. :kisses (And Kim, your boy was a great helper in putting him on that wishlist. ;))

Limhwa Mano made a huge impression on me, he has such a lovely manly physique and a good natured, masculine face. I also loved Elfdoll Mir -- I always said that I loved Elfdoll Wu and Elfdoll K, Mir seemed like a fantastic combination of all the traits I love.

The Mecha Angel 80cm line really stood out as well...uhn, and I gotta say, the rerelease of Elysium's Hugo-N made me crazy happy, too.

Volks Cristal is my favorite by leaps and bounds this year. (And probably every year after -- I don't think I'll ever have another doll grab me like that!) But I also really like Yo-SD Papi and Puki Sugar, who both came home to me. Other dolls I liked but didn't buy are Migidoll Ryu, Supia Roda (did she come out in '06 or '07?), SD17 Alain, and a bunch of Souldolls.

My surprise favorite is Volks Amakusa. He ended up growing on me even though I was ambivalent at first. Now he's on his way here ^^;;.

I've got to agree with the crowds regarding Volks Cristal and Yugiri. Both are very distinctive and risky sculpts with really gorgeous default face-ups.

I'm not sure if the Senior Delf boys are from 2007, but I believe they may be. Their bodies are spectacular and not one of the head sculpts is less than beautiful.

The Senior Delf girl body is gorgeous. I particularly love Annette from this group.

Volks' re-release of Masha and Yuki was a really smart move. I think it made a lot of collectors happy. Now if only they'll re-release Tsukasa and Jun Tachibana in 2008.
