Okay here's the notice on Latidoll's board;
2007-12-18 ] Shipping schedule of Christmas Miel

Hello, this is Lati.

First of all, we are very sorry for troubles during
Christmas Special elf type Miel again.

We are afraid we had received many orders
in excess of our plan because of sudden temporary trouble
with order and settlement system.

As a result, We are afraid addtional preparing products
put some strain and delay on our shipping schedule, though
our doing best for adjustment of preparing products.

We will do our best to send Christmas Miel packages
in time-before christmas, but some packages would be shipped
after 20th December because of sending them on a first come
first served basis.

And we will start to prepare tanned skin Limited dolls and
Basic ver. dolls after sending all of Christmas Special ver.
elf type Miel, so they will be shipped from the middle of January
roughly.

We will post a notice again for more information about
shipping schedule of skin Limited dolls and Basic ver. dolls later.

Take care.

To me this means that because they had a problem with their check out process they accidentally took more than the LE 30 orders of each doll. Does that not make the doll less valuable then when it was so limited? They don't really say how many they are making but it's holding up their production for other dolls too.

Should Latidoll be offering some sort of discount or special wig, shoe or something to customers to make up for this? Good grief they are making more so they are making more $$ but we all are getting a less limited doll.

I guess it depends on how much you value having a LE doll but I know I thought I was paying more because of it and now I am not too happy. I sat for over 2 hours trying to order the doll.

I'd just like to hear other people's opinions.

I actually think it is admirable that Lati is owning up to their mistake and allowing everyone who thought they had won and bought the doll to receive them. I remember the Bermann fiasco where several people I personally know thought they had bought the doll, paid for it, and then were later informed that there was a website problem and sucks to be them, the doll was not theirs.

No one but Kim has an opinion on this? Gosh, I really did want to know what other's thought.

I'm with Kim in this one. Volks also did make a similar mistake during NY Dolpa 2 that they accidentally miscounted and ended up taking five more orders of Masha than the number stipulated. Rather than canceling the orders, they decided to make those five Mashas.

I don't think that quantity downgrades the value of a doll. They're making more money, sure, but is not that they're getting the money for nothing; they said they are making more dolls to fill in all orders taken and that means extra work for them too.

What difference do the numbers make? If you want the doll and the price suits you, it doesn't matter how many get made, does it?

Besides, I think its class on the part of Lati to own up to the error and do the proper thing.

Volks and other companies often don't even tell you the numbers of their limiteds--so limiteds usually just mean that they are limited to some unknown number! 30 is a pretty low number... I doubt having more than 30 will change the value of the doll. Right now, the doll is valued as the price people are paying for it--and if more or less want it, it's still that price. If someone is counting on the after-market price--that is SO hard to determine that it really doesn't matter...

But having the doll limited--not matter what the number, there will probably be a decent market for it--of those who couldn't get it at the time, etc. Because it's limited /no longer available, it should be fine. Numbers are more important just to the owners, really. Or perhaps for those who want to sell for a really high price???

I think Lati did the right thing. Can you imagine being excited about the doll you thought you bought only to find out that it was a mistake, you weren't getting one, and they were sold out? It'll still be an LE, and it's so hard to predict how much a doll might be worth down the road, that it isn't really worth worrying about (there are many more factors than just number made that contribute to doll value).

If you don't get the doll, do they offer a refund or make the doll for the person that paid for it? IF I were to think I was going to win or get a chance to purchase the doll, and then they make the oops mistake, hopefully they offer a refund or give the chance to give a doll to you the next time they make limiteds. At least Lati is taking responsibility for their mistakes and not keep the money.

I never knew this happened so frequently with the BJD companies. You'd think they would have better websites that control their checkout or inventories.

Yes, I agree with a lot of what has been said but now this has changed their ability to make the other special tanned dolls which cost less. This also means that the special lottery prize, a sleeping Pury, will have more lottery entires and thus, everyone will have less of a chance to obtain one.

The other special tan dolls were put up for sale late, and ended early. I ordered one of them too but this had to have disappointed people who were hoping to get Christmas $$ to use to order one. It seems that Lati know the special Elfs bring in more $$ so they honored the orders. But then they are in business to make $$.
