This was brought up else thread and I felt it was important enough to discuss in Q&A.

How should we format certain tags so to encourage a fairly consistent 'standard'? For instance, there are multiple ways to tag a Volks head mold: f16, f 16, f-16, etc. In Volks' case it could get even more confusing due to MSD carrying similar numbers so something tagged "msd, f16" would return if someone was searching for "f16" meaning the SD/13.

My personal preference is to drop underscores and hyphens when possible. I would also add a 0 in front of single digit head molds, ie...F09. In the case of the MSD tags, "MSD f16" would be the tag I'd use (since tags are comma-separated rather than space-separated).

However, since tags still don't fully support two letter searches some hypenation is necessary. In this case we are encouraging the use of the abbreviated company name, hyphen, and the doll name. For instance, Cerberus Project El would be "CP-El".

It should be noted that there typically won't be any hard and fast rule for tag formats. While we'd like to encourage fairly standard formatting it certainly won't be something that will be enforced.

So I started this topic so we could discuss tag formating and to help get an overview, as well as raise awareness, as to general preferences when it comes to tags and searches.

You can find more info on the tag system, two-letter searches and how we're suggesting to differentiate old/new FCS head molds in this thread. (http://www.abjds.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75)

Hyphens and spaces actually turn into the same thing on the backend of the tag system, so we just need to make sure we're putting them all in the same place when we type our tags. (E.g. the tag "CP El" is actually the same as the tag "CP-El".)

For MSD FCS heads, I think the tag should be "f16 msd" - it makes sense alongside the equivalent tag for the new SD/SD13 FCS system ("f16") and the old SD/SD13 FCS system ("f16 old"). I think that having the headmolds listed with no space/hyphen (as "f16" rather than "f 16") looks a little neater.

It's probably worth mentioning that if you see a tag that's glaringly different from all the other's you've seen, you can report the post so that the moderators can edit it. :)
