Maybe it's just me, but this guy looks similar to a Volks boy (I think it's Chris, but can't remember)...but like his deranged younger brother, not an exact replica. Am I imagining things, or does this look like a clone?

School A, no doubt about it.
I'm very weary because they say it's a 'Loli boy' and that only makes me think of Lolidoll. >< Urgh, why are there so many rip-off companies popping up?

THATS IT! School A...I worked on one a few months ago, that was why the face popped out so immediately when I saw it. I can't believe I forgot the name, d'oh! So yes, that looks like School A's inbred cousin Lenny.

I would almost guarantee that's a LoliDoll, given that the head looks like a School A ripoff and the body like a CP ripoff. Sounds exactly like what LoliDoll offers to me. :mad
I'm in the process of putting together a sticky on known rip-off companies to go with our known scammers sticky.. just to make sure that nobody new gets ripped off by these damn companies either. They make me so mad. :angry

I thought that totally looked like a CP body (minus the double joint on the hip). Those dirty rat bastards...they have tainted the perfection that is the CP boy body!
*btw, totally O/T...I covet your #9. MAJORLY. :heart
It's like playing freaking whack-a-mole with these companies, I swear.

:barf I hate it. Clones suck. Nasty looking clones that don't do justice to the original really torque me. Notice how the pictures are incredibly small to purposely miss lead us. They think they are stealthy. Well we have trained angry fed up mob eyes, and we'll hunt them all down. :ninja

Well it's a good thing people frequent these BJD communities to make each other aware of obvious clones. I wonder why they haven't been shut down yet :\

It totally does make it worse, like adding insult to injury--like they could copy a sculpt, but only the ability to sculpt at the artistic level of a 7th grader.

I agree. It is like they have no talent of their own, which is why they don't have their own original sculpts. But also their talents are so lacking that they cannot even create a clean mold from a master. It is like a half inflated balloon - squashed and distorted so the beauty of the sculpt is no longer evident. Just cashing in on the people who either don't want to spend the money, or don't have it to begin with but want a doll.

Does anyone know why these bodies (http://cgi.ebay.com/Super-Dollfie-BJD-Female-Body-Only_W0QQitemZ200153745934QQihZ010QQcategoryZ84635 QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem) and all those other "LLDoll" rip-offs are still up on ebay? I remember reporting them a few months ago, along with a bunch of other people on DoA who were discussing them, but they've still got tons for sale.
I mean, I *know* what Volks' SD13 bodies look like. And I've had a Jun T. body, and *that* is undoubtedly her special hand. One pic has the high heel feet, the other the flat feet.
It pisses me off that they're blatantly recasting other companies' dolls (or maybe just using pictures of them and misrepresenting their product) and not only getting away with it, but somehow have 100% feedback. And people who obviously don't even know they're buying stolen goods... (or are just morally depraved... :mad)

Lolidoll is so notorious. :mad But i kinda feel sorry for those dolls they made... maybe they don't deserve so much discrimination?
:shifty maybe I'm starting to treat dolls too human, don't flame me please :wahwah

Whoops, missed this somehow when you posted it. :damnit It would probably more than anything have to do with the fact that the seller is in China. Prosecuting from one country to another is immensely difficult, and tenfold if the country is China and has dodgy copyright laws. In addition, I think Ebay only addresses a copyright problem if the copyright holder contacts them about it? Or did I mishear that information? :oops But if that's true they'd need Volks to contact them. Do you know if anyone reported this directly to Volks?
(I do totally agree that it's a blatant copy. :mad Thanks for the reminder about them, I'll be adding them to our sticky which I should be able to get done soon.)

I'm afraid that for however much human they seem, in the end they're still dolls; they're a commodity and that's it. And every time you buy a pirated doll, you're not only supporting the pirates, you're basically spitting in the face of the original creator of the sculpt.
Maybe that sounds a little harsh, but I have a lot of respect for the original doll sculptors and none whatsoever for those who make their living by ripping them off.
But i kinda feel sorry for those dolls they made... maybe they don't deserve so much discrimination?
Thieves and scammers deserve all the discrimination we can muster. The dolls they make aren't little beings that need love and rescuing - they're items stolen from the artists (who are human) in order to suck money from unsuspecting consumers (also human.)
This is not a flame, it's reason.

You know what pisses me off more than anything?
That people actually buy these things and see nothing wrong with it. As in this little gem, from the auction comments:
Question & Answer
Q: Hello, I was wondering if you could make a head similar to Luts Chiwoo elf and then sell it separately without the body?? Thanks, Lazuli
Jesus, people. If you're going into this hobby, why would you want cheap knockoffs? Save your pennies for the real thing, or don't buy at all. :/

Wow. That really takes the cake. :angry :mad :dead I understand those who aren't aware of the copy issue before buying, and while I disagree with it I at least understand the people who feel "sorry" for the copied dolls, but the people who just blatantly don't care even knowing full well that it's a copy -- that I don't get. And will never get. And actually don't care to want to get. Grrrr.

It's depressing how many people don't care about the quality of the dolls, or the original artists - I'm guessing they've never made any art themselves... otherwise I doubt they'd be so quick to suggest ripping it off to save a bit of money.

oh my goodness *_* having been caught up in the "clone wars" before, i was fully prepared to give Lolidoll the benefit of the doubt... but when i went to their site and saw the dolls' faces... wow. i could have sworn i was on Volks (except for whatsisname, Amilla- he looks just plain weird). i've been absent from the hobby for a while; how long has this been going on???
Lolidoll's been around for awhile and they seem to pop up every so often. They currently have some more dolls up on e-bay, but under the name baby doll.

As you can see by the dates on the original posts, this was discovered about half a year ago.

yeah, i noticed that... what i meant was, how long has Lolidoll been around? which question Taco pretty much answered, so it's all good (well, you know what i mean).

I donft know if itfs that they have no talent or more of a quick way to make a buck on an unsuspecting new person. At any rate these people are willing to charge a premium for a non premium product that is effectively worthless. I was fortunate to attend some panels and then stop here and at DoA before buying my first. If you just see one at a CON you might not know and get caught. Itfs a terrible way to learn a lesson.
