Tohya eye size?

I just did a major "bad" w/ the cc and bought myself my dream doll...

Anyways, he's no long er default and I think when he gets here I wants to get him some nice eyes...

I guess 14mm is default size. Has anyone used anything else in their Tohya/Kohya? How 'bout paperweights? He's kind of squinty and I know my Eun-u has trouble taking paperweight eyes of any kind.

Help me wait by picking out eyes. Pics most welcome!

I have 16mm paperweighted glass eyes in my Kohya. I don't think 18mm would sit right in his head.

I think I have some 15mm as well, and some 18/9mm (which looks rather like 16mm) but I don't know that I actually have any 16mm. :oops Still, I'm happy to swap his eyes around and take some pics of what I've got, he likes being admired. :doh Most of my stuff is low dome though, I've never been fond of high domed eyes.

My Kohya wears 18 mm glass eyes (probably from one of the many Luts dolls that have passed through my household), I really like the 18 mm 'cuz they give him a gentler look, but 14 mm work okay, he wore those for a little bit too.

Here he is in his usual defaults.. so Volks 14mm metallic acrylics. Funny, when I was putting them back in I noticed they're actually a teeny bit small for the eyewell space. I've never really noticed it before. *laugh* They look fine in though.

This was largely for amusement value, heh. Although sadly you can't actually see the colour of the pupils. :( These are black 'evil' eyes, with 'lapis lazuli' pupils, so a fairly dark blue. They're 15mm, an off-size, the seller makes them all by hand and sometimes does off sizes. Quite a good size for him as well, even if you can't see it so well in the pics. He makes a good creepy doll, heh.

These are Zoukeimura 18/9mm. If he looks pissed off it's because he is. The fit is awful. :( I couldn't recommend these at all. Visually the size is fine but the fit in the eyewell is crap. There's a huuuge amount of gappage between the eye itself and the back of the eyewell. It looks crappy. They just don't fit. I also popped in my Zoukeimura 18mm and they're even worse. If you wanted to go Zoukeimura at all you'll have to go 16mm. (Unfortunately I have none to test.)

These are both ED eyes in 18mm. Sorry for the colour mismatch, they're Rafariel's spares. These fit better than either of the Zoukeimura, but I still can't recommend them. They look okay I guess but there's a fair amount of gap again, they just don't fit comfortably in the eyewell at all. These are low domes so I expect high domes would be even worse.
I have some ED eyes in 14mm (low dome) that I can try in him if you'd like.. Ishki is currently using them so I didn't do it now but I don't mind if you'd like to see 14mm EDs. I don't have any 16mm though, sorry.

I was just testing sizes for you at this point, heh. Sorry again for the mismatch, they're both my Scarface's so he only owns odd eyes. The left (our left) with the pupil is Volks HG glass, 18mm. Again, totally can't recommend this, it's a really bad fit. I'd go 16mm or 14mm with those. The right without the pupil is 17mm, it's a handmade one-off type from Tsuki no Hakoniwa. 17mm is a better fit definitely, and this has quite a flat dome which works much better in him.

I also jammed some of my silicon eyes in, which work much more comfortably in his eyewell and I'd even put 17mm or 19mm in him comfortably with those I think, as they're squishy so can be jammed into the eyewell. I didn't take any pics because I have such trouble making my blu-tak hold silicon eyes in place that it drives me batty so I didn't bother. :oops SOrry!

Anyway overall -- if you're going with glass (or acrylic) I personally would go with 14mm to 16mm. If you really wanted to go 18mm, be careful what type you go with. Or else, be prepared to bevel the crap out of him, hee! I'm sure you could even get the Zoukeimuras to fit if you bevelled, it'd just be a lot of hassle.

I just bought a used pair of green glass in 14mm. they look nice and were cheap... We'll see how it goes...

I'll wait to post him when he gets here. I don't ahve any of my own pics of him yet. He was FS on DOA up until yesterday. If you do a search for Tohya in the marketplace he'll pop up although the seller took his name out of the thread once I completed the sale.

16mm Zoukeimura eyes fit perfectly. Here's Ichi in the ones he came in. (Just ignore my SwD Sch A, this was part of a photo set I did to show off the boys I got at the NY Dolpa. :p)

They're a little paperweighted and are a pretty snug fit - they don't really fill the eye sockets.

Ack! Janne -he's gorgeous. Aside from the fit, I like those eyes. I'm not sure about the color for my boy as he's very swarthy-looking in the face-up which i have no intention of changing unless I have to as its gorgeous. I'm already thinking I need a Kohya to go with Zander.:oops...

These are 16mm DropRops in Pastel Blue. :) I like both the fit and the look. Damnit, now I want to buy him DropRops myself, but she so rarely makes 16mm I always feel obligated to pass them along immediately to my 16mm hunters! :doh
