Hello! I am new to the board and am very happy to have found you all! :dance

I have been trying for over a week now to gather as much information about the Pipos line of BJD's and other than the technical aspects of them, (size and such) I have not been able to glean much else about them.

The main questions I have are:

What are the production numbers of each doll? Since some I have seen are sold out, that means they are produced in a finite number.

Are there any sites devoted to them other than ones that sell them?

What is the history of them? Who created them and do they have a story?

Thanks so much for any information, no matter how small, anyone could provide.

When I do a search in the forum(s) here there seems to be only two topics devoted to them and neither of those answered any of my questions.

I look forward to any info provided.

Thanks again.

I'm not sure there are concrete answers to all of your questions, not that I know very much about Pipos at all either. :p Some of this maybe stuff you already know but I'll include links anyway...

The Pipos website is here http://www.piposdoll.com/ and it does have a link that says "Academy" but alas, I neither read nor understand Korean so can't really tell you much of what that's about, though there are a lot of interesting pictures of sculpting process and master casts and such.

Their English website shopping mall is here http://piposland.com/ where you can see some of the numbers for their limited dolls, or the unique one of Halloween Baha that sold on Ebay the other week. Other than that particular OOAK, though I'm don't think there are records released of actual production numbers. For instance, the Limited Dreaming Baha is only limited to 30 because of the particular faceup and costume; the actual headmold is nonlimited. This appears to be the case for the rest of their limited dolls: it's an unlimited mold that's specially painted and comes with a special outfit; the numbers of each limited doll are listed on their pages, I believe.

I hope the info helps. I'd like to know more too because they make such cute dolls. :)

thanks for your response. I had found the Pipos site but just like you, I can't read the info that is written in Korean. I asked the seller that I got my first Pipos from and she told me pretty much the same thing. That they are made to order...hand made and that there is no "limit" to the basic versions.

I am now the proud owner of one Kitty (CoCo Koo) and two bunnies who have yet to be named. There is such a limited amount of info and items to dress them in and such that it makes them even more "special" because one has to be creative to get all the info they can.

Here is a pic of my Coco! Thanks again!http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2040/1924686795_c305bac66e.jpg
