About the ABJD Art Group
For all of you current or aspiring artists out there who enjoy drawing, this is your little hideaway on the forum to come show of your artwork! There's no need to worry about your skill level, and everyone is quite welcome to come in from crits and advice on how to improve their art skills and find new art resources as well as sharing it.
If you don't draw yourself, but still enjoy seeing artwork that others have done, you're still very welcome to join and chat!
Hopefully when enough people join, we'll be able to start up character exchanges and art swaps, so I'll be looking forward to seeing you all in there! =D
If there's ever any questions, please feel free to ask them here in this thread. Thanks, and I hope everyone enjoys the group! ^_^

This sounds like a wonderful idea! I think I'll subscribe, and hopefully, put up work of my own in the near future!

is it just drawing, or could it be other mediums? dollie collages and trading cards would be neat.

I like the idea of dollie ATCs. Why not? :)

Yes I'm one of those who talk my dolls into modelling for my drawing. So yeah I really like this idea.

I'm not much of an artist, but I'm still looking forward to seeing all of the wonderful artistic talent this hobby has!

I draw and paint mine and other people's dolls, but I have a dumb question, how do you post art work? Photograph it and post that way?
Tereya Chan
10-28-2007, 02:37 AM
Well, a lot of people do digital painting and upload it that way. Most of the pieces I submit are scanned and uploaded with a scanner. I imagine if you were doing much larger pieces you'd either need to photograph it and upload that or have access to a very large scanner.

i'm also really liking the idea of trading cards, since most of my dolly art are just rough sketches the trading cards might have that extra umph to get me to finish and be happy about a doll picture.

Would gingerbread people cookies frosted as my dollies count as art?
I knew I should have taken a picture before I ate them... I'll vote for anything that moves!

Hello! I'm promoting a group that has been around for a while, but is always seeking new members. :)
The ABJD Writing Group focuses on the characters behind dolls and the stories around them. Members may share their original fiction in a creative and friendly environment. In addition, weekly 'themes' are posted for members to write short drabbles on to inspire new ideas.
The group promotes discussion and feedback on writing as well as developing a greater understanding of all the hard work that goes into creating a character and story around abjds.
Join us! (http://www.abjds.com/forum/profile.php?do=editusergroups)
I like reading backstories of owner's dolls. I'd like to join, this topic seems interesting to me and I'd like to work on my writing as well. :)

Here's another shameless promotion... and a bit of a glimpse into the group!
We feature such things as weekly writing themes based on a series of prompts provided by participants, open to all who wish to participate, as well as brainstorming, questions with answers... and some questions that all writers face!
Soon to come? Insight from professional writers such as Jim Butcher, Wen Spencer, Orson Scott Card and other authors.
Curious? Stop on by! We'll be happy to see you!

I would love to join... but English is not my mother tongue, so sometimes it takes time to describe something... :|

Don't let that stop you! We have a thread to discuss the language barrier, and overcoming it. :)

OH I would love to join! I am getting my first dolls and have stories already worked out for them...
Actually, would anybody be interested in reviving the weekly theme challenge (or bi-weekly if that would be easier)? I've been thinking about posting one, but I'm not sure who alls around that's interested.
*Edit: I suppose this might not be the right part of the forum to ask that. Feel free to move if need be :)

I'd totally be up for it, so please feel free to go ahead!! :yey I don't get anywhere near as much time to participate in Resinality since I moved and started working fulltime, but I really enjoyed the fic challenges and lately I want to write more, so I would love any little boost to encourage that. :D
Do you want to ask this in the writing group as well? Maybe start a new thread? If I yank this out and turn it into a new thread it might go more unnoticed than if you start a new thread. (I hope that makes sense. :oops)

I have joined this "group" but is THIS the group or is there some other site/board I have to go to?
I have started writing on my character Kane King and only have the concepts for my Perdita Raine, Cedar/Lightning and Willow/Thunder. So I do have much work to do on them and some good critiques would be helpful. I like to put my stories into rhyme! :oops :p

Did you join the group through the option in your control panel? If you did, you should be able to see that subsection of the forum on the main Resinality page under 'User Groups'--that's where the group exists :)

I would love to join this part of the forum. I don't have any dolls, sadly, but I have three that I want -based- off some drawn characters so I think that counts.

Does it have to be specifically ABJD dolls depicted? I did some Flower Fairy ATCs before...(they were Art Doll ATCs)
